  6.
  7. >Tired, utterly exhausted after looking for over three hours in an abandoned warehouse, Lincoln took a look at his watch, 2:00 AM "Oh she's gonna hear one heck of a speech once I-"
  8.
  9. >Suddenly, there she was... A trembling white haired spot in the middle of the wreckage, surrounded by old oil tanks, unsuccessfully trying to light a cheap cigarette.
  10.
  11. >"You have no idea how much-! ...You know? I'm, just tired... Move" Said the 30 year old man as he sat aside his distressed daughter, while taking his coat and covering the shivering little figure at his side.
  12.
  13. >"Hey!" was the only thing the little girl said as her father took the mauled box of smokes and gave it a few hits against his knee to take one cigarette to his mouth. "That's not how you use a lighter" said with a stern, jagged look in his face "You need to cover it a lil with your palms, see?"
  14.
  15. >Lupa was speechless, she expected her goody two shoes Dad to give her the scold of her life.
  16. >After the number she did in the kitchen leaving her mother coughing for air after crying for the venomous words her daughter threw at her.
  17.
  18. >What was happening? Who is this man? He looked so done with the world, so done with life itself, so done...with her?
  19.
  20. >"You said you wanted to be treated like an adult back home right?" His voice had a monotone sound that felt almost like a mock to his wife, while releasing a thick cloud of smoke by his nose.
  21. >"Don't let me talking to myself here, did you really wa-"
  22. >"Yes... You guys always tried to hide stuff for me, always thinking I'll never see the pictures in the attic, or how clingy aunt Leni is with you when she comes for holidays, pretty bizarre demeanor for a sister in law right?"
  23. >He stared at nothing for the longest five seconds of his life.
  24. >It was time, the most awkward and uncomfortable talk he ever had to take part for more than a decade.
  25. >But his eyes reflected a sour mix of release and guilt. He was prepared, along with the anger build for a night long of paternal scold, he threw everything out the window; she wanted to be a foul-mouthed pseudo grown up? He was going to treat her like that.
  26.
  27. >He stood up and walked to a light spot made by a hole in the roof, what a beautiful cold night.
  28.
  29. >"You want the truth? Well, you have it" As he took a deep kiss of his almost scorched smoke; he sighed with an overflow of steam surrounding his figure.
  30.
  31. >"I was in my second year of college, and your mother was the only relative i had near to spent time with. Everyone else was doing their own thing; mom and Dad took your younger aunts for a trip and Lucy decided to stay with me to keep everything in check during spring break..."
  32.
  33. >It was notorious his shaking hand approximating his almost extinguished smoke for the last kiss, and as soon he took the last sigh of cloudy steam, the shaking palm turned into a fist, his eyes drilling the hole in the roof"
  34.
  35. >"We were watching a movie on the couch when I saw her sleeping, at least I thought she was... A simple good night kiss, nothing more... But she just turned her head to ask "What are you doing?"... and we kissed"
  36.
  37. >Lupa was speechless; her parents weren't exactly a lovely dovey couple, except for special occasions, in which she gladly accepted to go for a sleepover in the place of the obnoxiously bright ray of sunshine that is her aunt Leni, sparing her for any nightmare fuel noise from her parent's room.
  38.
  39. >"None of us recoiled... Everything went the way you might expect in a cheap R-rated midnight movie... The news about you had a mixture of responses... None of them good as you might expect"
  40. >The family went more than wide eyed to the implications of what transpired that weekend.
  41. >"So... It was true, you guys... I-I am... FUCK!" Her cry echoed across the abandoned building as her bag smashed against a rusted piece of machinery.
  42.
  43. >Her little hands were a shaking mess, a mix of cold, hunger and anger, even though she didn't understood why she was so angry about.
  44.
  45. >She have loving parents, a nice house to live, and a merry crew of weirdos she was proud to call friends.
  46. >Yet everything sunk to nothingness the second she found that cursed book covered in years worth of dust, and inside, pure madness, dressed as happy memories between siblings, and in almost all of them, a white haired boy living along her mother's sisters.
  47.
  48. >For Lucy, a cold glare from her family was the immediate response she got after dropping the bomb, even questions about abuse, things she hissed at the moment, dismissing every single disgusting and quite graphic idea her sibling and mother had in mind.
  49. >But for Lincoln, a far worse treatment fell upon him.
  50.
  51. >From a solid knuckle sandwich of his father, and subsequently Lynn; to the stern glare of all his sisters, looks of disgust and even fear stabbed him over and over.
  52.
  53. >The young man was a monster in the eyes of his own family, everyone except for her newfound lover.
  54.
  55. >"Y-You¦ Holy hell do you understand how fucked up this whole thing i-"
  56.
  57. >"YEAH! I get it! I fucked my sixteen year old little sister and seven or so months later you came out! Are you happy to know the lovely truth about why I lived every day of my life since then fearing this day would come!? Because it’s not a goddamn bedtime story!" the man yelled as he kicked a worn down oil tank.
  58.
  59. >An ominous silent engulfed the two albinos, the water works started to pile in the freckled cheeks of the disturbed girl. Who was this imposing terrifying man? She never thought she would miss her dork and funny Dad.
  60.
  61. >"I... I just can't... why did you even bothered to have me!? This is why i just saw grandma and grandpa when you are not at home?! Or why aunt Lynn face turns disgusted every time someone mentions you in a birthday party?! ...It was all because of me that you have no longer sis-"
  62.
  63. >"NO! Oh my God don't dare to finish that sentence!" Lincoln snapped and the blotchy face of his daughter, and as quick as he finished that sentence he grabbed her by the shoulders and gave her the most miserable look he had in decades, it was just like looking at a little kid after breaking a plate in front of his parents, his face was swollen and red as her, almost like a mirror.
  64.
  65. >"They forgave me!... It took time, a lot... Remember your fifth birthday party when aunt Luan performed with all your other aunts?"
  66.
  67. >"Yeah, that was the first time I knew I had family beyond you two"
  68.
  69. >"It was one of the best days of my life, they all hugged me! And we talked like nothing happened... They even apologized, for things I never knew they said... Things I was better not knowing to be honest"
  70.
  71. >His odd speech was broken by the small laughs of Lupa, bringing relief to the man's heart. He was doing his best to not tear like the fine example his child showed, and there she was, starting to smile at his Dad's embarrassing connotations, a smile from a girl known to be the embodiment of the nihilism and apathy.
  72.
  73. >"Never think for a second our lives went down the hill because of you... Yeah, it was a rough beginning... Hell like we went up and down a few times before your lil white scalp showed up between your mom's-"
  74.
  75. >"Holy fuck I get it Dad you can stop!"
  76. >Silent once again coated the conversation before Lincoln released the most sincere laugh he had in years, soon enough Lupa did the same, and both ended exhausted from the mix of heavy emotions and the late hours.
  77.
  78. >"Mom and Dad still need some time, also Lori and Lynn to be honest, I always felt like I disappointed them, or enraged them for what they believe I did to your mother"
  79.
  80. >"Well you fucked your sister"
  81.
  82. >"It was consensual JESUS FUCK!" He snapped as he covered his face with his cold hands and fell on his back.
  83.
  84. >For Lupa this was a whole new aspect of her nerdy father, one that she could respect, but never get used to.
  85.
  86. >"Listen, for better or worse, all of that happened because of our decisions ok? You were a reality and we accepted it, we didn't care for nothing more than you from that day until now... We love you Lupa, me, your mom, and the rest of our family" He said as he hugged the little frame of his daughter with his shivery arms.
  87.
  88. >You also owe your mother a serious apology, Lupa. And don't expect to get off easy after what you said. Understood?
  89. >Those were the reassuring words of a lovely and stern father that she is so used to feel both annoyance and love.
  90.
  91. >"It's ok, I said some serious shit back there, and even I would kick my own ass if I hear something like that"
  92.
  93. >Lincoln's face turned into his trademark tender goofball lovely look, as he buried his head in Lupa's hair.
  94.
  95. >"Hey stop that! Hahahaha ok... OK SERIOUSLY STOP"
  96.
  97. >And so he did, now both grabbing hands as they went to Lincoln's car. Lupa was still wearing the long trench coat of her Dad, dragging everything below the waist across the dirty floor.
  98.
  99. >"Thanks for... Y'know, not sugarcoat anything, it made me feel like you were taking me serious for once"
  100.
  101. >"I always take you seriously, you are so much clever than me when I was your age, heck even now and then you still surprise me"
  102.
  103. >The little girl felt like a huge boulder was taken out of her, since that morning she was connecting the dots of why some things were so weird between her Dad and the rest of her wacky family, always fearing the worst, fearing her existence was a sinful mistake that teared the relationships of her family.
  104.
  105. >And indeed was, yet she never felt so loved than now, knowing how much her parents went through for her, how much she meant even after a big fucked up like the one that night.
  106.
  107. >"Also, if I ever find you smoking again, I swear I'll slap the hell out of you to next Thursday"
  108.
  109. >"I love you too Dad"
