saboom

A brief summation of my presence on the internet.

Early 2000s, StarCraft/Diablo II, maybe some other sh*t. (That was online, but not shared through any broadcasting platforms)

Nov 2007: chance-recorded some Super smash bros. melee stuff with a friend like blackhole glitch, filming my TV with a camcorder. Uploaded it to YT under the acct name "SSBMstuff" (how imaginative)

Nov/Dec 2007-roughly Summer of 2012:
Mostly all Home-Run contest videos. Super smash bros melee and brawl. A few Ape Escape (original/PS1) Time Attacks sprinkled in.

Summer 2012:
Started livestreaming speedruns to twitch
... This went pretty steady until some point in probably 2016 or 2017, featuring Spyro 1, 2, and 3; Crash 1(barely), 2, and 3; Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories; Ape Escape; Frogger; maybe some others. ... like Pong (saboom golden era)

2017~: Somehow kinda spiraled into a rut. Mostly only would stream Spyro 1 120%, made claims to having "add*ction problems" having to do with twitch/speedrunning... in general, my streams began what would be a long, long arc of becoming pretty weirdvibes.

2020+,
I mean...attempted a pretty silly cheat code in life to turn me into a singer, or rapper, or something along those lines, coming from a life of gaming. Must've gotten the inputs wrong.

2020+++?..,
What can I say? Just started acting the part. Began to live in full p*ranoia, fearing being watched by int*lligence ag*ncies or whatever, after a few times or so of some questionable and dr*g influenced streams. Figured, everyone thinks I'm cr*zy, might as well have a little fun with it and push the envelopes.

2026, summer:
So the deal is, I'm only working 3 days/w, and I'm just not bringing in enough money to keep paying my rent. I figure, 1 or 2 days a week being saboom beats 1 or 2 days/w at Walmart or Starbucks on a second job, so. Gonna hit twitch again. Thanks for watching. My streams will be threefold in unshakably DISCIPLINED format. Spyro 1, Music, Reading. Every time you see me live for now, that's what the stream will be. That's what the show will be. That is what is being offered. No amount of criticism, disapproval, or anything will shake me. Spyro 1, Music, Reading.

FAQ:
____

Basic FAQ:

• What game is this?
Spyro the Dragon/(Spyro 1) (1998) for Playstation 1. If my game on twitch is set to reignited trilogy, that's a glitch.

• What's a speedrun?
A speedrun is a 'run' through a video game intended to achieve the category requirements within the shortest amount of time, often but not always with our own addition of a timer, to games originally with no time-incentive.

• What's a category, or category requirements?
Most games have an ending that can be achieved ~without~ 100%ing the game. So, two main speedrun categories for most games: Beat the game, which we almost always call any%, and Complete the game, which is usually called 100%, however there was a trend around the PS1 era to make extra percentage beyond 100 attainable, and Spyro 1 happens to go to 120%. That's what I'm running.

• What do you play on? Are emulators acceptable for speedruns?
I play on a Playstation 2 using the original Playstation 1 disc. This is the fastest option for loading the game using the PS2 Fast Disc Speed option at bootup. I use an original Dual shock 2/(PS2) controller. Yes emulator is accepted to most games leaderboards, where players' times are tracked.
