- | (Updated 6/20) IMPORTANT UPDATE PLEASE READ: The teams and order of the categories has been officially determined. As of this post date, I remind you all that you have just over one week to practice and prepare your saves for the relay. I am instituting a mandatory 3 saves that you must use during your run. This applies to all categories, all players. You may chose where to save, but just to make sure that everything runs smoothly, everyone must follow this rule. Additionally, I ask that you make additional safety saves on another cart, rom, flashcart, or whatever so that in the event of a catastrophe, the relay can move on without a problem. The teams are as follows, and the runners of each will be listed in the order that the categories will be run. The order will be GT Classic, 100% Item Collection, Any% KPDR, and Low% Ice Beam.
+ | I have been getting a lot of questions about how the race would actually work, so here is a rough explanation. There will be 5 teams of 8 people, each person on the team will run one entire category from start to finish. Once this person has completed their category and ITEM COLLECTION PERCENT has shown up, the next person on their team will begin to run their assigned category. For example, if the order of the categories is as shown below, for example if someone is running GT Classic, the first category of the relay, their teammate that is running 100% will start their run as soon as the final item collection percent shows up on the credits scene.
- | Team 1: leodox, lildingus, kojakt, and twocat.
+ |
- | Team 2: nintoaster_81, just_defend, aircheese, and foosda.
+ | VOD from ludendi of the last Relay Race, held in 2015: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/6710479
- | Team 3: guru_of_reason, feviolet, cygrade, zoasty.
+ |
- | Team 4: sweetnumb, straevaras, henyk, caznode
+ | Rules regarding playing:
|
- | I have been unable to find someone to host the stream and stream it to the Ludendi channel for me, so I will be streaming it there myself. Because of this, I am instituting a mandatory MAXIMUM bitrate of 600 that everyone must abide by during the relay so I would be able to keep all 4 streams going without buffering. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Sacrifices must be made to make this happen so I appreciate you all chipping in to help. Just remember... this game doesn't look any better past 600 and since that's all you will be streaming, this shouldn't be an issue. Also, I realize that I did not specify this before, but please make sure that when you are streaming, the only thing you stream is the game capture in the correct resolution (640x480).
+ | Important Note: For ALL categories during the relay, regardless of skill level or confidence in your abilities, deaths or major setbacks happen. Because of this, and to have the relay run as smoothly as possible, I am requesting that ALL runners make backup saves, either on a separate cart or flashcart, or something so that in case of death or some other catastrophe, there is a quick way to jump back into the relay without having to completely restart. This does not mean savestates are allowed or are to be used. You are also required to make a minimum of 3 saves during the run. Every category (randomizer will not have backup saves, for obvious reasons) and every runner is subject to these rules. There will be a 1 minute time penalty assessed for each save not taken.
|
- | I have been getting a lot of questions about how the race would actually work, so here is a rough explanation. There will be 4 teams of 4, each person on the team will run one entire category, from start to finish. Once this person has completed their category, the next person on their team will begin to run their assigned category. For example, if the order of the categories is as shown below, for example I run any%, then when I finish, JackBeNimble starts to run 100%, etc. The currently posted order of categories and runners has no relation to the order the categories will be ran nor the teams.
+ | Rules regarding streaming:
You will be streaming to an RTMP server that will be restreaming your gameplay content to twitch.tv/speedgaming2. Please stream only game audio and only game feed. if you have follower/sub/donation alerts, please turn them off for the duration of your run. Please available up to an hour before your run is scheduled to start. The time estimates I've established for this relay are VERY generous, and it is VERY likely your team will be ahead of estimated start times. Hopefully we can get this all set up and working correctly before saturday, so it'll be a breeze to get going on that day. |
- | Important Note: For ALL categories during the relay, regardless of skill level or confidence in your abilities, deaths or major setbacks happen. You don't have to make saves in the middle of the run, but having the backups is a strongly advised.

- | 100% Item Collection - straevaras, feviolet, just_defend, lildingus
+ | Must run with the romhack that I've created that displays map tiles collected in the HUD. This is to help you, the runner, ensure you have all the tiles, and to make it easy for people watching and commentating to be sure you are getting all the tiles. The number you're looking for at the end is 1244 when the ship starts moving up to escape Zebes. A time penalty of 10 seconds will be assessed for each UNINTENTIONAL map square missed. Intentional squares missed will be assessed as the situation calls for.

- | Excluding my vote for July 12th, June 28th is the most requested date. I am pleased to hear that many of you are available for any of these, and that is great. However, I request that you try your very best to make the date chosen work, even if it is slightly inconvenient. I am setting the date and time of the relay race for June 28th, starting at 12 pm PDT (3 pm EDT). If circumstances arise that makes you absolutely unable to participate on the given date, please contact me as soon as possible (twitch.tv/wildanaconda69 or any other medium you can) and we will try to resolve the issue. Make sure to check back to this pastebin for all updates regarding the Relay.
