after installing this, you probably want to get songs to beat your keyboard to

For a complete beginner, Stepping Stones of Stepmania, Piano Minipack of Elegance and ODIPacks are recommended at least, then if you're a fucking weeb then Otaku's Dream packs and Alice's Step packs
these go into your songs folder. The structure should always be songs --> pack folder ---> song folder ---> song files
when starting a song, press enter again after selecting the song to enter SONG OPTIONS.
from here you can change your scroll speed and type (use c mod for your own sanity) and other various options such as noteskin, mines, scroll direction.....
if you go to your options and set select and effect up/down keys, holding down select and pressing effect up and down also lets you change the rate your song plays at. This will come into play much more with more experienced players, or later on if you want to play harder songs but don't have the speed or technique for them yet, you can slow songs down.

Here is a collection of noteskins I made. It has all kinds of skins. Skins in stepmania go to Noteskins ---> Dance.
and I think that's all you really need to know. In song options it's also helpful to set "screen filter" which makes it so that the playfield is full black, or if you don't want bgs just turn BG brightness to 0%.
Most relevant new packs are pinned in this channel, but most of them only have hard files :D
