  1. Agnes woke up with a bang. Her brain was still too groggy from sleep to identify the sudden noise that had just woken her, and was just about to write it off as a bad dream when it was suddenly followed by a clang from the kitchen.
  2. She groaned and instinctively grabbed her glasses from the nightstand, throwing a glance at her comlink that laid beside them. The dim, blue-hued display shamelessly declared the time was 03:42. Someone was going to pay for this.
  3. With a grunt, the ork woman sat up in the bed and ran a hand through her normally well kept chestnut-coloured hair. On top of it all, she had a bad case of bed-hair now. More noises were heard, this time from the living room. Loud laughing.
  4. Someone was in her apartment, but honestly Agnes was more pissed than scared. It had been a long, dull day at the office, and now some asshole had the nerve to disturb her well-deserved rest.
  5.
  6. Swearing under her breath, she pulled a hold-out pistol from the nightstand's drawer and hastily put on a white shirt that laid draped over a chair. Agnes didn't consider herself a prude, but confronting a burglar while wearing only her glasses and panties was out of the question. She didn't even bother with the light switch,
  7. the yellow glow of the streetlights shining through the slits in the blinds was more than her orkish eyes needed to avoid bumping into the furniture as she made her way out into the hallway. Light was clearly visible from under the living room door. These were some exceptionally dumb burglars. Agnes slammed the door open and stormed into the room, pointing the gun in the random direction.
  8. As her eyes quickly adapted to the light, she stopped in her tracks. A blonde, human man clad in a sooty ballistic body armour stared down the gun like a deer in headlights.
  9. The human man smiled sheepishly, and broke the silence.
  10. "Eh... good evening, Doc!"
  11.
  12. Agnes lowered the gun and buried her face in her hand. "Evening? It's fragging four in the morning! I thought someone had broken in, but it's just you idiots."
