Chapter 11 - 1581 to 1600: Delaware

In 1581,  the future world order begins to take shape. Britain now has colonies in Africa and the Americas, but the empire is not the only pioneer. The Teutonic colony of Rio de Jenairo has grown, and Castile has founded a colony on the narrow stretch of land between the northern and southern continents.

In Delaware, the first few dozen settlers are busy making a home out of the wild landscape. Within days of landing, they encounter the Powhatan tribe just to the west. Despite their rather archaic and technology, the Powhatan still are a large tribe, able to marshal 19 thousand warriors when needed. Duke of Awesome is still sure that technology will trump numbers.

Europe is not fairing quite so well. A significant shift has taken place in Iberia. The once thought finished process of expelling the Muslims from the peninsula has reversed, and Alexandria has made significant strides to win new territory. Galicia, also once thought vanquished, has reemerged and reconquered their past lands. Soon after its successes in battle, Galicia becomes Britain's ally.

In the rest of Europe, Carinthia is invading Byzantine lands, opposed by Aquitaine and assisted by Hungary.

In Britain all seems peaceful. However, a rift has been growing between the Clergy and the government. Angry at their lack of representation, the clergy incite open rebellion throughout the Empire in January of 1584.

1st and 2nd armies are called back from Normandy. 2nd Army, led by Moosemac Konrad, a rather inexperienced commander, engages the rebel army in Wales. It is a quick victory.

The rest of the rebels are in Scotland and Ireland now, burning all that they find that does not belong to the church.

General Necro Ross leads 1st army north to defeat the rebels while 2nd army heads to Ireland. The two armies nearly simultaneously defeat the rebels in Ulster and Lothian. Now there is just one band of rebels in the Highlands to deal with, but that does not take long.

In September, the Rebellion of the Clergy is over. It accomplishes nothing. Duke of Awesome refuses to shift at all, and all that changed since the uprising is several thousand dead peasants.

Interesting news reaches Britain in 1587. The first Muslim colony was founded in Africa by Alexandria!

Meanwhile, the colony of Delaware has grown faster than anyone expected. Religious minorities not just from the Empire have been flocking to the New World. The colony now meets a new tribe, the Susquehannock, a smaller tribe that is in a federation with most of its neighbors, including the Powhatan. The new cities founded are called Philadelphia and Raritan.

In August of 1593, an Irish nationalist, named Chopak, rebels against the crown. He and thousands of followers lay siege to the fort of Meath.

The fort falls in a month, completely unprepared for such an attack. 1st army arrives in Leinster soon after. With the aid of the Royal Guard army, the rebels fall in November. The fort is retaken and the rebellion ends.

In 1595, The colonial governor in North America requests permission to conquer the bordering tribe. His reasoning is border raids by the Susquehannock (the Powhatan were conquered in 1590 by this tribe). Duke of Awesome grants his request.

The American Army, led by adventurer Qwerty Orabilia, defeats the enemy warriors headed towards Raritan. Then he leads them north into the enemy capital of Scahentowanen. The mass of enemy fighters throws the Brits back, and they retreat to Delaware to regroup.

In November, a Breton army of 5 thousand lands in Delaware, and the now combined army of Britain and Brittany engage the enemy once more and win.

The rest of the war is all victories fro Britain, and the Iroquois surrender in May of 1597, becoming the first protectorate of Britain. Soon after, Susquehannock surrenders. Its entire territory is incorporated into the Delaware colony.

In 1597, Aquitaine invades the Teutonic Order. When called to their aid, Britain refuses: Galicia, Britain's ally, comes to the Teutons' aid. For now, the alliance between Aquitaine and the Empire is severed.

On July 3rd, 1600, Emperor Duke of Awesome creates the Colonial Government of Delaware. It would eventually become known as the Thirteen Colonies.
