  1. So I just came back from my New Year's trip to Oslo with a few of my cousins which is why this comes out now, let's get right into it!
  2. The first part will be about me and what happend in 2019 IRL, the second part will be about speedrunning in 2019 and the third part will be a conclusion/my goals for 2020 as well as a shoutout people that I can remember of the top of my head (Which will be a lot of people given how many different communities I entered).
  3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Part I:
  5. 2019 started out like 2018: I felt pressured by college and retreated into speedrunning again. As that happend for the second time already I decided to move back to my parents and stop going to university for half a year. I decided to work on myself (Which I didn't really) and to work a bit while waiting for october to arrive so I can restart again.
  6. Before June nothing really happend at all, I just chilled and speedran a bit. Then I started working in retail and holy fuck was that terrible. A few people were fine, but 80% of the people there were toxic as shit and I could feel how no one gave a fuck about anyone or anything for the most part.
  7. In July I then went to ESA which was amazing! It's everything I ever wanted from a speedrun event and more and I'll definetely make it a yearly trip to Sweden now just for that. I met a bunch of people, even people I thought I'd never meet ever.
  8. Then I continued working until October, again, nothing special happend in that time.
  9. In October I started going to university again and it honestly doesn't feel like that's already 3 months ago. I've been having more fun that ever with university and found a proper group of friends as well as a few people I'd consider really good friends, even if they wouldn't say the same (yet). Things have been tough from there on out but it's been a blast.
  10. The last few days I've been to Oslo with a few family members and we had a very nice time there exploring parts of Norway.
  11. I'd say the only thing that really bothered me in 2019 was how strongly my parents are against videogames, anime etc. which bothers me quite a bit, especially as the only way of dealing with that is ignoring them and that obviously feels terrible every single time I have to do that.
  12. I am however looking into moving into a new appartement again eventually once I got a job that is sustainable alongside university so that I can get to uni quicker, be more connected to my friends living there and of course being able to stream more freely. But that might as well still happen in 2021 depending on when I find the time and money.
  13. That's for my IRL part, now for the interesting stuff :P
  14. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  15. Part II:
  16. So 2019 started in a weird fashion. I was derusting KHDDD Any% NG for the "Kingdom Hearts - Experience the Magic" Marathon and got a WR after 2 derust runs with a 2:11:02. Nowadays with a few improvements (And SSD lol) this should be beatable, but at that point that run seemed pretty good, eventhough I gained a lot of new timesaves seemingly out of nowhere.
  17. The next thing I did was improving in JJ 100% in 1FM and I ended with a time of 4:35:05. Nowadays pretty bad with the improvements made by Templeton, but a pretty great time for what it was back then.
  18. I continued running KH2FM JJ 100% together with Logic. I had a blast during that race and hope Logic did so as well as he had to hear my voice for 13 hours. It was amazing all the way through and I continued to improve that time into a 11:57:53. I had another run the day after paced for 11:1x:xx but died very late into Hades Cup, causing me to be depressed for a day about it. This is generally something I used to do a lot that has gotten better, but more for that later.
  19. My next game I tackled ended up in pretty big controversy. I ran Digimon World 3 on a 90k console (The only one with a slim at that time) and ended up getting a 10 minute WR on my first finished run. I did a lot of attempts before (At least 15) but I never finished. I knew what I was doing, I just didn't have a run finished yet due to various mistakes. This resulted into a few people antagonising me at that time but it got resolved somewhat quickly. It felt terrible, but we came clear about it and everything is fine now.
  20. After that came my All Bosses run for Digimon World 3 which I never ended up finishing, I stopped 14 hours in due to fatigue. I will return for it, but I have no idea when I will have the time and motivation for it.
  21. That marks my first part, after that I moved back to my parents place not knowing if I'll be able to stream again...
  22. But I did...not even a week later. And I started with KH3 Beginner Any%.
  23. I started out with decent times and started improving for a while until I had a 2:52. I felt good enough with that time so I continued to move on.
  24. The next run I tried was All Stories in KHBbS, my goal was sub 2:55 and I smashed that goal! The best part about that run was my 49:59 Terra Any% segment which is one of my first long time goals I ever met. I tried for sub 50 for a long time and I randomly get it on an All Stories run, who would've thought! I ended the All Stories run with a 2:49:43 which is fine, if I ever come back to this it would be once I get Top 3 in all individual Stories.
  25. My next few runs were Lilo & Stitch Any%. I did 2 runs and got 3rd place with 30:34. Once I have the disc for this I will go for WR, maybe even a 27:0x if I go crazy on it. Following that were a few All Trinity Runs for 1FM which ended in a 2:13:00. I'll definetely improve that one, but not now.
  26. In May is when I started to find interest in Undertale. It's a game I've neglected for a while but after playing it for the first time I fell in love with both the game and the speedrun. I ran Neutral Glitchless for a few days gaining a 1:07:20 after a few days, back then 15th place and less than 3 minutes away from WR. I continued with True Pacifist but I never really learned that one decently netting me a terrible time of 1:41:34. I'll definetely go for better times though.
  27. My next run was a single run of Hard Mode NG+ in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII to test a file I made for new runners and to fill out a newly created category. Ok run, could've definetely been better.
  28. After that is when things started to get interesting again. Me and iGreenDay started running a game called "Panty Party", a third person shooter which lets you control a...well, Panty. Interesting game, not as fun run, but I managed to get a time of 18:51 netting me WR in this game.
  29. Followed by that I did 2 back to back runs of MediEvil Any% on Console. I ran Emulator before and got WR there in 2018, but the run on console is different as you can glitch through most of the doors in the game saving ~25 minutes. My very first run was 1:47:13 with no practice, my second run right was a 47:19. A 1 hour pb as well as 50 second WR. I don't know how I did that, but I did it. The run was still pretty mediocre, but I am happy with it for now.
  30. Right before ESA I started running KH3 again and ultimately ended up with a 2:44:11, 3rd place at that time with only Mist and Swift in front of me. Solid run, but sooo much potential left.
  31. In ESA is where I met a lot of awesome people as well as running KH3 with my friend Kayarune as a race. We ended 2 seconds apart! Incredible race! Incredible event! One of the most fun I've had with a speedrun up until now.
  32. After that I ran 0.2 for a bit and got a 22:01. Not good, but not bad. However far away from my goal of sub 20:30.
  33. With the possibility of getting into AGDQ I started a few runs of KHFM Standard Any% in August with Wyatt. I got a 2:40:15 on my first run and that was it. Didn't continue, but also didn't get into AGDQ, so that wasn't the end of the world. However running Standard made me realise that grinding for a 2:12 in 2018 might've killed my love for 1FM. I like the game, but I can't look at it without being annoyed by it anymore outside of pure marathon runs.
  34. However that was also the time I started running Final Fantasy XIII-2. I picked up pace very quickly, fired up by SwiftShadow who started not long before me but got good very quickly. My goal was to beat him which I ultimately did by 45 seconds with a time of 2:52:10. The run is incredibly fun, but my PC unfortunately doesn't allow for a consistent and fun experience. If I come back to this it will be with a stronger PC or on PS3.
  35. In October is when I realised that my idea of Desathon (Inspired by Steriothon) won't be possible for the time I had. I wanted to run all the games I ran in the past back to back and started derusting a few of them, but I gave up after ~6/22 games knowing that I wouldn't make it in time. What I did instead was preparing for probably my best speedrun yet: The entire KH Series from start to finish. I started derusting all the games. I don't remember the order in which I did, but I managed to snag a few PB's along the way, these being:
  36. KH2FM: 3:02:12
  37. KHRe:Coded: 2:56:27 (First Run)
  38. And then, on 31st of October, it started what would be 28 hours of Kingdom Hearts. No breaks, just all the way through.
  39. Starting with BbS and ending with KH3, I ended with a final time of 27:55:33, gaining PB's in KH358/2 Days (3:59:07) and Sora' Story Re:CoM (2:48:39)
  40. I tried to beat that time and I arrived 14 hours into the run at Ruler of the Sky (Days) with a 1 hour lead, but then my PC crashed. Devastating, but nothing I can do about it.
  41. I also changed up the ruleset for this run a bit making BbS a bit longer, but it's nothing major.
  42. At the end of the year I then started to not really focus on anything anymore due to university, but this changes now again with FFXII: TZA and a few more games upcoming.
  43.
  44. One can tell that I'm getting tired of writing this as I got less and less detailed throughout, so this shall be it for Part 2.
  45. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  46. Part III:
  47. My goals for Speedrunning in 2020, even if I can't get them all due to time, are plenty:
  48.
  49. - Sub 25 in the KH Series Speedrun
  50. - Sub 3:15 in FFXII: TZA (Switch Version) and a similar time on PC
  51. - Sub 2:40 in KH3 Beginner Any%
  52. - Sub 2:55 in KH2FM Beginner Any%
  53. - Sub 2:50 in both Astral Chain Any% categories (Or WR if Swift beats me to it)
  54. - WR in KH 358/2 Days Proud Any% (Emulator and Console), maybe even 3:05:xx for either
  55. - Deathless KHBBSFM Aqua Crit Lv1 (PSP)
  56. - WR in KH2FM JJ Beginner, maybe even sub 10
  57. - Pioniering FFVII Remake and getting WR
  58. - 45:xx in MediEvil Resurrection Any%
  59. - Sub 5:40/5:35 in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Console
  60. - WR in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII JP
  61. - Sub 6:40/WR in Digimon World 3
  62. - 27:1x/27:0x in Lilo & Stitch
  63. - Sub 2:10 in KHDDDHD
  64. - Finishing an All Bosses run in DW3
  65. - Finishing another Crisis Core 100% Run
  66. - Sub 10:20 in KHDDD Plat%, maybe even sub 10
  67. - Sub 7:25 in Final Fantasy VII Any% No Slots
  68. - WR in MediEvil 2019
  69. - Sub 6:30 in Final Fantasy XII
  70.
  71. There are probably more things I want to run, but that's it for now.
  72. It's overambitious, I know, but I also know that I can theoretically pull all of that off. However as I want to take University seriously now I'll see what I can get done. There are no real priorities here either, I just try whatever I see fit.
  73. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  74. Part IV:
  75. I realised there are way to many people to shout them all out individually and it would take probably hours to write these up. I'll write a post for this individually as it really takes long.
  76. I will list everyone here that I care about, a "True Appreciation" post will follow soon.
