Once you've achieved the criteria for unlocking them (see below)), the monster will be added to the pool of possible investigation monsters of their respective region, which are

Zinogre: Ancient Forest and Coral Highlands
Garuga and Scarred Garuga: Ancient Forest
Brute Tigrex and metal raths: Elder Recess
Rajang and Ruiner Nergigante: everywhere, invasion monster
Stygian Zinogre: Hoarfrost Reach

Furious Rajang and Raging Brachydios are exceptions. They will never show up in investigations.

Simply farm up investigations for these locales like you'd always do: by completing quests, doing expeditions and sniffing tracks in that region. Alternatively if you don't want to and arent in a hurry, you can set your Tailraider Safari to these locales, and each safari progress will accumulate 1 investigation.

Just as a note; there's a lot of conflicting information from player experiences. Capcom has stated these investigations are unlocked the moment you've spotted the monster in the Guiding Lands, but if that's true they're actually really rare as an investigation. I suggest capturing the monster and then completing its Special Arena optional quest to be better safe than sorry until more data comes available.

As soon as you've hunted a certain monster in your personal guiding lands, that monster is "unlocked" globally for good. Note that most of these monsters have their own 6* special arena quest after capturing them, with the exception of Scarred Garuga. See below for more comprehensive unlocking criteria.

>Zinogre - MR24 required
Assignment straight after the final boss

>Garuga - MR24 required
Level the forest region to 3 to receive an assignment quest from the field team leader, in Seliana's command tent.

>Scarred Garuga - MR24 required
Unlocks for investigations as soon as you've hunted regular Garuga. The guiding lands variant only shows up in level 6 and 7 forest region, however.

>Rajang - MR24 required
Unlocks as 2 specials assignment (first a Kirin hunt called Sterling Pride, then a Rajang one called Reveal Thyself, Destroyer) from the Admiral near the command tent in Seliana after having visited the Guiding Lands at least once. Will show up in investigations and the guiding lands after completion

>Stygian Zinogre - MR24 required
Special assignment called Across the Lost Path. If it doesn't unlock after visiting the Guiding Lands once, you may have to clear the Rajang assignments first.

>Raging Brachydios - MR24 required
Special assignment called "...And My Rage for All". May have to clear the Rajang assignment first. Once completed, will unlock a repeatable optional quest.

>Furious Rajang - MR24 required
Special assignment called "The Fury Remains". May have to clear the Rajang assignment first. Once completed, will unlock a repeatable optional quest.

>Safi'Jiiva - MR24 Required
Complete the Safi'Jiiva recon mission.

>Alatreon - MR24 Required
Complete the Safi'Jiiva recon mission.

>Silver Rathalos - MR70 required
Level the Guiding Lands coral region to 6. To unlock Silver Rathalos investigations, you have to hunt him in your guiding lands once.

>Gold Rathian - MR70 required
Level the Guiding Lands wasteland region to 6.  To unlock Gold Rathian investigations, you have to hunt her in your guiding lands once.

>Brute Tigrex - MR70 required
Level the Guiding Lands rotted region to 6. To unlock Brute Tigrex investigations, you have to hunt him in your guiding lands once.

>Ruiner Nergigante - MR100 required
Reach MR99 to receive an assignment quest from the field team leader, in Seliana's command tent. Completing it makes Ruiner Nergi available in the Guiding Lands and in investigations.
