  2.
  3. Acetone - Every Kiss: 8 They need to take a time machine to right now asap cause this is what's hot amongst the people today, Acetone would be placing a strong 13th in the IH AOTY rankings
  4.
  5. Adeem the Artist - Reclaim My Name: 7 That doesn't sound like any time machine I've ever heard
  6.
  7. Amanda - Worship Me: 8 The indieheads to Daddy Says No's popheads
  8.
  9. The Armed - An Iteration: 9 Amanda hurt my ears worse so it maxed out at 9. Great album though, saw one of those himbos do a frog splash into the crowd at P4K
  10.
  11. Bartees Strange - Mustang: 10 The tragedy of sending one of my favorite songs to 11 only to someone to send an even bigger 11. Anyway, everyone always talks about Boomer with its switchups but this is easily my favorite, an all-time bangs in the whip track. Love that oh so brief sound drop in the bridge, love Bartees's voice straining to hold one hell of a note, especially love that only running through the chorus once makes me wanna replay it immediately after to reach that high. Idk might be my favorite song of the decade so far
  12.
  13. Birds In Row - Noah: 7 Needed more of that section with those thunderous drums, loved that bit
  14.
  15. Brown Eyed Girls - Abracadabra: 7 That first verse rubbed my ears the wrong way, but the catchy chorus brings it back
  16.
  17. Bruiser and Bicycle - Woods: 8 My fears about it being boring stomp-clap completely allayed, got such a fun momentum and some super crisp sounds
  18.
  19. City and Colour - The Girl: 7 Need to see the score split of those who listened to the four minute one in the Youtube playlist and the six minute one on streaming (six minute, for the record). This is the type of song that can soundtrack a million high school relationships. I don't actually mean that as an insult lol, I might've been one of them if I had this. There's just a real potency in such a young feeling optimistic love song, but that makes it catnip for dudes to put on their playlists & feel vulnerable hearing in the dark of their room, feeling waaay too emotional about snuggling with their s.o. at a friend's bonfire three weeks before the end of junior year
  20.
  21. The Constantines - The Long Distance Four: 8 Wish I had a college radio station, this would sound so good there
  22.
  23. Courtney Barnett - Charity: 8 Just some solid indie rock that makes me do a lil Stone Cold "oh hell yeah"
  24.
  25. Demilich - The Planet That Once Used to Absorb Flesh in Order to Achieve Divinity and Immortality: 7 What do you mean, "used to"
  26.
  27. Emiliana Torrini - To Be Free: 5 Trip hop isn't really my thing but it does have a good sound
  28.
  29. Eric B. & Rakim - Juice (Know the Ledge): 9 Mmmm baby that bass
  30.
  31. Fk Buttons - Olympians: 8 This should play in a loop when all the countries come walking out
  32.
  33. Ginger Root - Weather: 9 "Aggressive elevator soul" lmao. Ngl this is prime "artist I'm really into for a year due to a music festival" music but bad news y'all when it's good that's my JAM
  34.
  35. Girl Talk - Triple Double: 9 There is something so special about a Girl Talk mashup. Paint It Black & Yellow? That's poetry. And if Luda was actually on 1901 it would've swept IPR rate no doubt. That said, all Good Day mashups pale in comparison to K.K. Good Day
  36.
  37. Goldfrapp - Strict Machine: 8 I just know this probably advertised a laptop or something lol. But it's a great version of that! Rather a good commercial song than a bad one
  38.
  39. Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel - White Lines (Don't Do It): 8 "In 2023, rapper Pusha T remade the song in promotion for the film, Cocaine Bear, retitling it 'White Lines (Cocaine Bear Remix)', keeping the chorus, but replacing the original verses with his personally written lyrics."
  40.
  41. Grouper - Headache: 9 Danny Devito wide eyed and crying gif
  42.
  43. Hikaru Utada - Somewhere Near Marseilles: 9 Here we are, back again, in the aquarium for eleven whole minutes with Hikaru Utada. Anyway sorry for not saying anything & silently having a sensible chuckle when everyone kept thinking Roxie sent this
  44.
  45. The Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations: 10 As someone heavily influenced by some of Pitchfork's late 00s opinions I looove this album. Just a weird sounding dude sing-talking to some incredible heartland rock. Had one of the best sounding pianos in the biz on this
  46.
  47. Hot Action Cop - Fever for the Flava: 5 If this was in the soundtrack of a video game I had actually played I would probably give this a higher score. But it wasn't, so I'm not
  48.
  49. Invisible - Perdonado (Niño Condenado): 8 Was vibing a bit too hard to the intro which made me a little surprised when the dude came in. Guitar emote out in full force here
  50.
  51. Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love’s Refrain: 9 Bro.
  52.
  53. Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing: 7 That's a crisp ass glockenspiel
  54.
  55. Johnny Yeast and the Infections - Tyler Derden Was a Mother Fng P: 9 And it's right here that I realize that I can't remember what happens in Fight Club. Did chemical burns factor into the plot at all or?
  56.
  57. K. Hand - Eternal: 8 Need a bunch of glow sticks on my person rn
  58.
  59. Kelsey Lu - I'm Not In Love: 6 The ASMR for Big Boys section though
  60.
  61. kendall﹕3 - blue shift: 7 I don't really know Owl City at all and someone will prob correct me on this but my mind's making the comparison anyway, at the very least the wave of 10s altish synthpop
  62.
  63. Kessoku Band - Seishun Complex: 9 Watching anime just to hear some J-rock that you enjoy
  64.
  65. kittydog - Bees in My Head (ADHD): 5 Beez nuts
  66.
  67. The KLF - Justified & Ancient: 9 So which Nintendo platformer is Mu Mu Land from?
  68.
  69. Les Panties - Diving: 7 This is exactly the sound I would expect out of an act described as a "Brussels cold wave band" (complimentary). Also what accent is this
  70.
  71. Linda Smith - I So Liked Spring: 7 Lovely guitar tone
  72.
  73. Lisa Germano - Puppet: 7 Really solid 90s alt
  74.
  75. Mallrat - Charlie: 9 Basic bedroom pop for basic bitches like me
  76.
  77. Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack: 8 Hit a little overplay recently that dings it slightly for me but still a smooth bop of the highest order
  78.
  79. Michael Hurley - Slurf Song: 8 Now that's some mighty fine slurfin'
  80.
  81. The Mountain Goats - This Year: 10 Extra marks for timeliness!
  82.
  83. Neko Case - Star Witness: 9 Never gotten hugely into Neko Case solo but god I love her voice
  84.
  85. ODESZA - Higher Ground: 6 Pretty good, but not the same without the giant EDM stage behind it
  86.
  87. Paul McCartney & Wings - Band on the Run: 10 S-tier first notes, and great first two parts that switch up right when they need to & finishes with an ace second half
  88.
  89. Pearl Jam - Jeremy (MTV Live Unplugged): 8 Sir, a second Jeremy has hit indieheads rates
  90.
  91. Perfume - Edge (triangle mix): 10 After this got submitted I watched the live performances of this so much, I was OBSESSED. Those ladies know how to work an onstage trio of giant screen towers
  92.
  93. Porter Robinson - Musician: 10 If this wasn't already a rate winner it'd be a much bigger 11 contender for me this time around, anyway I'm gonna run through a sunny grass field rn see ya later
  94.
  95. r-906 - Panopticon: 8 Of all the things Covid took from us, Hatsune Miku set on the 2020 Coachella live stream no doubt has to be number one
  96.
  97. Rilo Kiley - A Better Son/Daughter: 10 Maybe this is finally the year I do a full go-through of this album
  98.
  99. Rita Lee - Erva Venenosa: 8 Oh, that's a bigger groove that I thought
  100.
  101. Rizzle Kicks - Down with the Trumpets: 6 Uh-oh, brief grade school crush on Rachel Bilson immediately re-activated
  102.
  103. Robbie Williams - Me and My Monkey: 8 Not looking up the meaning of this, I refuse to believe this monkey is a metaphor for anything
  104.
  105. Robyn - Konichiwa Bitches: 3 You're a few songs too late for the weeb section
  106.
  107. RXKNephew - American tterroristt: 8 The way the lines occasionally run over each other makes this somehow feel even more like a fever dream than it already does
  108.
  109. Say Sue Me - Old Town: 10 Ah hell, this one hit me bad. Should eventually get into their older work, this is very much in my wheelhouse. Can't wait to see what Say Sue Me song we send to Charity next time
  110.
  111. Scatman John - Scatman's World: 9 All rise for the global anthem of Scatland
  112.
  113. Serengeti - Dennehy: 10 Favorite discovery: Dennehy. Incredible wordplay and asolutely perfect at telling the story of a very specific kind of Guy. Bears. Hawks. Sox. Bulls.
  114.
  115. Sir Lord Baltimore - Helium Head (I Got a Love): 7 A nice, wild, rockin cut
  116.
  117. Sofia Portanet - Menschen und Mächte: 7 Pleasing voice, nice steady pace
  118.
  119. St. Lenox - Nixon: 6 Honestly love the chorus even if (or maybe because?) it sounds weirdly like it could come from a musical. At the very least a theater kid writing music vibes, if the kid really idolized like Lin Manuel Miranda & Father John Misty. Writing that and realizing I just created a kid many of you immediately hate so I will step away
  120.
  121. Sukpatch - Mexico City Big Vacation: 8 So grainy, but adds to the summer band vibes
  122.
  123. Teenage Head - Disgusteen: 8 Keep thinking he's singing "Im Disco Steve" like f off no you're not. Legit extra point for this little skit in the bridge what is this
  124.
  125. Tegan and Sara - The Con: 9 A third artist in this rate that I should really work on getting through the important parts of their catalogue sometime
  126.
  127. Thin Lizzy - The Boys are Back in Town: 11 The boys are back baybeeeeeeeee!!! The way my last second ballot helped put this in indieheads favorite songs of the 70s list. Absolute all-timer riff, one of the most feel good guitar parts ever created. If you don't shout sing along to this what are you even doing??? Was planning to eventually send this to either of the Charity Rates eventually, so I'm so glad to see it here. A true classic in need of a jukebox to play it on and some boys (preferably in leather jackets) to play it
  128.
  129. Toy Love - Squeeze: 8 Love the chorus, the way the guitar melody and the singer intertwine just works
  130.
  131. Tøyen Holding - Frisk Kapital: 8 If this was on a GTA Radio Station it would kill. That said tbh the outro was the best part even if it hurt my ears a little
  132.
  133. Westelaken - Pink Lights, and the Dixieland Band: 8 The horns
  134.
  135. Wolfmother - High on My Own Supply: 7 This isn't good at all, but I think I got Wane-pilled & the music video being such blatant Influencer-core made me give this a way higher score than I would in a vacuum
  136.
  137. Xinlisupreme - I Am Not Shinzo Abe: 9 A likely story
  138.
  139. Yuki Saito - Itsuka: 9 A beautiful flower placed in between I Am Not Shinzo Abe & Jesus is the One (I Got Depression)
  140.
  141. Zack Fox - Jesus is the One (I Got Depression): 10 Insane amount of quotables, just wall-to-wall. I feel the need to watch the making-of vid every so often too. Praise 🙌
  142.
  143. END
