  24. Traits:
  25. Xarya is a female zebra. Her fur is chestnut with rust colored stripes (her mane stylized in short dreadlocks), and has brown eyes. Xarya is a former slave of a subterranean mining camp ran by diamond dogs. She along with an assortment of other captured travellers worked night and day, toiling to mine gemstones for their brutish captors. Xarya, being very hot-headed and young, tried to escape and lead slave-revolts many times, resulting in multiple whip scars across her back and the eventual cutting out of her tongue. Still, the other slaves commemorated her efforts and loved her as a trusted friend and colleague. Although her captors refused to feed her, she was often given meals and words of encouragement by those who supported her. Still, there seemed there was no hope of escaping.
  26. This all changed one night when Xarya was meditating as she did every night. Some time during so, it seemed to Xarya that she fell asleep, for she began to dream (or what she thought was a dream, at least). She seemed to be floating in the cell that she was stuck in for that day's escape attempt, but the strangest thing was she could see herself meditating. As she looked in the reflection of a puddle in the cell, she saw herself in a wispy, almost fire-like form of a spirit. She traveled easily between the bars of the cell and explored the halls of the mines, approaching the living quarters of her captors. Upon entering, the diamond dogs inside panicked, as if they could see her. One approached her with a sword and attempted to stab her, but he passed right through her. She begun to feel her hatred of her captors pulling at her again, and she lifted up hooves, a flash emanating from her and fire filling her vision. She woke from her meditation suddenly, sweating profusely.
  27. She went to bed uneasily, but was woken suddenly by the voices of her companions unlocking her cell, informing her that something happened to the jailers, and that they were all free. Xarya was confused, until one of the slaves (an especially young sheep) noticed she had gained a cutiemark, the silhouette of two balls of flame encircling each other. Another slave noted the relation to her cutiemark and what had happened to the diamond dogs, apparently being burnt to crisped. After writing in the dirt about what happened in her dream, they were convinced that she had unlocked some hidden potential that had laid dormant until now. After meditating, she once again found herself in her astral form, and her friends had also seen her too. Thus, she became known to the as Xarya the Fire-Hearted, savior of slaves.
  28. Xarya and the slaves stayed together until they reached civilization, where they reluctantly split. There, she collected a bounty on the slavers and spent weeks in the wilderness honing her new skill, where she learned more fire and transformative magic. Still, she found it hard to sit still in one place for too long, and decided to use her powers for the good of ponykind. Thus, she took to adventuring, wanting to free all those oppressed and imprisoned across the world, still hot-headed as ever. She uses a chalkboard to communicate, and has become very adept at drawing.
