Pokemon Battle Frontier Info

The Battle frontier is a post game addition in Pokemon Emerald which expands on the original battle tower introduced from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.

There are seven different buildings which have their own unique challenge and rule sets which requires successive wins to 'clear'

One of the mechanics introduced in the Battle Frontier are the symbols which comes in a Silver and Gold form. These symbols act as a gym badge and are rewarded for successive clears of each facility and require you to beat the Frontier Brain of that particular facility.

The battle frontier is one of the hardest challenges from a Gamefreak made Pokemon game as it requires considerable amount of successive clears to complete and a single loss will reset the streak. For example to obtain a gold symbol in the Battle Tower requires 70 wins in a row which is a significant time sink if you were to lose to the 68th trainer.

Obtaining each Gold symbol will allow you to receive the most important prize from Scott (its only a starf berry for gold and a Lansat berry for silver)

The team that we are using for this challenge is Swampert, Metagross and Latios which is also used by the speedrunning community. Honorable mention to Werster who has the first recorded run (https://youtu.be/59Z5PKLq_9s?si=HlgzC44iDJaPBNPP) from the start to completion of the facility which was achieved in 19 hours and 4 minutes and I highly recommend that if you enjoy the facility or enjoy watching my play though to watch this speedrun as its one of the most impressive feats.

There are multiple reasons for the team, firstly the use a dedicated special attacker, a dedicated physical attacker and one mixed attacker gives the team plenty variety to tackle various threats, namely pokemon with high defensive stats such as Blissey or the tank water types. The second reason is each of the pokemon listed have high Base Stat totals and are not banned. Finally and the most important reason is the IVs for all of these are predictable in that they can be easily manipulated utilising frame perfect tricks.

The general moveset differs from facility to facility (namely the RNG and survival based facilities) but the summary of the team is shown below:

Latios @ Lum Berry: Calm Mind, Psychic, Dragon Claw, Thunderbolt
Swampert @ Leftovers: Earthquake, Surf, Ice Beam, Counter
Metagross @ Choice Band: Meteor Mash, Earthquake, Shadow Ball, Explosion
