- 1. You were faxed about a visitor acting hostile towards the crew and station, sapping the power supply, stealing research data, and has threatened to kill their captive if security tries anything or ERT was called. It was also reported that they have military-grade technology capable of stealth and teleportation, armed with highly dangerous weapons. How would you respond?
- Schmuck LordToday at 5:40 PM
- Realistically speaking I would advise command staff to appraise the situation involving the captive in whether or not the net loss of the research data was worth attempting to preserve the life of the captive mentioned. Afterwhich they should maintain a position of negotiation and concessions proportional to the value of the hostage. If the demands are unreasonable Internal Security should act by means best determined by the command staff. Command staff would finally be informed that ERT Phoenix will be placed on standby due to the level of technology of the visitor and that they should be called by way of the RFID Scanners if the situation grows out of the control of Internal Security and the staff available.

- 2. You are faxed by Station Command about a team of mercenaries who have reported a band of pirates operating in the area. They wish to offer their services to the station as additional security. Command is asking you for your advice on the situation. How do you respond, and why?
- Schmuck LordToday at 5:49 PM
- Central Command would advise Command Staff that the stations budgetary allowance does not include the procuration of additional contracted security forces and that if the entity offering is seeking contracted work with NanoTrasen then they would have to go through the proper channels aboard the NTCC Odin or BALDR. The N.S.S Aurora is fully stocked with a complete armory and the means to repel pirates. The mercenaries should be informed of the location of the Odin if they wish contract work with the company and the station raised to Blue Alert in accordance with a potential pirate threat. The NDV Icarus will be placed on alert and will sweep the area for signs of pirate activity, if none our presented in an hour after the report, the station should resume normal operating procedures. These courses of action will ensure the safety of the station from both the mercenary group and these unnoticed pirates as well as maintain conservative budgetary restrictions for the companies bottom line

- 3. You receive an Emergency Broadcast System message from the station’s Artificial Intelligence. It claims that there is an emergency situation, and requests an immediate ERT deployment. How do you respond?
- Schmuck LordToday at 5:55 PM
- Depending on the circumstances leading up to the request for ERT Phoenix, an announcement would be made stating that if possible the command staff should attempt to follow normal ERT request procedures via the RFID scanners. If no command staff are available then the downloaded intelligence should procure a trusted NanoTrasen employee to sent a detailed situation report via Fax to the NTCC ODIN, if time constraints disallow for this then a summary from an organic crew member will be accepted if no command staff are available to make the request. A reminder will be given that abuse of the EBS system will result in pay reduction for all relevant staff and additional repercussions if persisted. If only one command staff member is available, they should be the one to make the relevant reports or summary

- 4. You receive a fax from your NanoTrasen Corporate Liaison about the Captain shutting down all of the vending machines, cutting off profits in expectation to have the crew go to the chef and bartender for their service, and disagrees with this action as profits are lost. How would you handle this situation.
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:02 PM
- An informative fax would be sent to the captain in regards to the Getmore Corp. and how they are a subsidiary of the greater NanoTrasen family. Any profit reduction to the NanoTrasen family is unacceptable and that the vending machines should be reactivated. A supply and demand policy is used in all things relating to both the vending machines and the on-station kitchen and bar. Resources will be allocated to the Aurora as people use them and if the goal is to make more use of the on-station kitchen and bar then they are informed that Central Command has already made relevant decisions on use based on the resources allocated to the Aurora. The Captain would be ordered to resume operation of all vending machines and be fined for the profits lost in the time they were inactive, failure to do so would result in further punitive action, up too but not including dismissal.
- Soultheif96Today at 6:04 PM
- The captain then responds with "I believe that the crew should be motivated to go down to the chef and bartender to get the sustenance they need and interact with the crew. It was proven to be good for getting to know your crew and help manage their break times. Although, I will do what you wish, Central."
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:12 PM
- A final fax confirming the order would be sent reminding the captain that Getmore Vending products are designed for on the go service and in many cases are w
- Quicker than the kitchen and bar. It is the staff's choice if on their break which services to make use of. If the Captain wishes to encourage break time management and crew interaction. It is advised command staff organize optional crew activities throughout the shift with the facilities and resources provided on the Aurora. Command staff should prioritize making better options more attractive than removing them, at minimal cost to the company.

- 5. In your opinion, how much of a role should Central Command play in the affairs of the station? When is it appropriate for them to directly intervene, and how much should they attempt to shape the round when they do?
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:17 PM
- I'd maintain the answer in my application that Central Command should provide reactionary interactive responses to the crew that make them feel as though they are in a living breathing world. If an action unnecessary accelerates a round, such as informing Command Staff that those mercenaries are in fact not here to act as additional security forces and we know nothing about them should not be sent unless it directly accelerates a round. Central Command should strive to strike a balance between realism and facilitation. Blockages stopping the round going forward should be cleared in the least intrusive way possible, and faxes should be responded too in a manner which is the most beneficial to the round. Central Command are not direct participants in the round but guides to make sure all the mice eventually leave the maze in a way that leaves everyone fulfilled and happy.

- 6. What do you believe is the purpose of the Incident Report system?
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:25 PM
- The incident report system purpose is twofold. The first and what I believe to be the more important purpose is to provide an IC method in which negative character growth is turned positive by providing realistic outcomes to the poor behavior of a character. The second reason is to police poorly designed or managed characters by showing that actions have consequences and that they can be punished even if they are not violating or skirting the line of the server rules. Both reasons go hand and hand in creating a more realistic environment for characters to exist in and ultimately lead to a better roleplaying environment for all players, old and new.
- Soultheif96Today at 6:26 PM
- 7. In resolving an Incident Report, when should a character receive significant disciplinary action (such as a demotion), as opposed to a lighter response such as a warning or retraining? Under what circumstances would you consider terminating a character's employment?
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:39 PM
- Its my personally opinion that this question isn't necessary phrased in the right way. Significant disciplinary action and lighter action should be proportional to the actions permitted yes. If one is reported for the sale of station goods, whether they be drugs, sensitive research data, etc., they should receive significant action. If one is reported because they are rude and insulting to members of the crew, that should exhibit light punishment. I think the question more pertinent here should be the existence of soft punishments and hard punishments, soft being ones that are there but can't be felt and hard being the opposite. In the cases of situations where an IR is made through the virtue of good roleplay, a soft punishment should be applied. For example a significant pay reduction or fine would be a soft punishment that a character who is punished could roleplay out well and consider not repeating an action. A hard punishment should be applied in cases of poor roleplay leading up to an IR, the only exception for this is if there is no other reasonable course to take for good roleplay.
- For this vein I cite an on-station characters actions, where a scientist is needlessly producing items from their research and using them around the station wantonly, they should be demoted for their actions, malpractice is another situation deserving in demotion. In the cases of firing someone however, as it is the hardest punishment, the direct cause going into someone being fired should be either the serious harm or death of other characters, behavior of which the extent is absurd and unreasonable, or at the result of multiple CCIAA actions resulting in no rehabilitation on the punished person. For example, the fool who plays with their gun next to a fuel tank in the bar, detonating it, killing two people and maiming himself, should be fired. The character, ritually sacrificing a cow in the journalists office surrounding by rats and other gore, should be fired. The character, consistently abusing other characters verbally, whether it be sexual, or purely hateful, should be fired if the behavior is consistent and unrectified by previous disciplinary action.
- (That one was a long one)

- 8. After taking an IR of your own and completing your interviews, you find that a Surgeon committed malpractice and has shown guilt in their actions, however the victim and the Chief Medical Officer is angry and wants drastic action for suspected intent of malpractice. Based on this, what would you do?
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:44 PM
- Malpractice is a serious charge and even if the perpetrator shows guilt, there should be drastic action taken. It looks bad on the company to show that we are tolerant of doctors who would harm their patients in unfortunate ways, whether or not there was clear premeditated intent. The Doctor assuming it was the first IR in their name, would be demoted and slotted for retraining in which would be completed by the decision of the Chief Medical Officer or standard NanoTrasen policies regarding the elevation of Medical Interns and Residents to full licensed physicians. Additionally, a fine will be levied against the person in which a portion goes toward the victim for their pain and suffering. Their reward for showing remorse and acknowledgement of their actions is not being fired from practicing in any NanoTrasen owned facility.
- Soultheif96Today at 6:47 PM
- If there is any suggestions that you like to share for CCIA, what would they be?
- Schmuck LordToday at 6:53 PM
- The one recommendation I would have, which may tread on the toes of Avery as event manager is to take more liberties in-round to simulate a living breathing world. Whether it be genuine surprise inspections or visits from CCIAA agents or other kinds of optional requests that can be made of the crew such as non-consequential test policies or even asking the command staff to actually act on the Central Command report when it asks them to raise the percentage of loyal NanoTrasen employees. Not everything needs to have a resounding impact and shouldn't, it isn't CCIAA's job, but there things that can be done that can simulate life in a world without seriously affecting the course of a round.
