Elevator

Her voice comes as a surprise in the quiet elevator. You had almost forgotten the short haired, blonde woman was even there behind you.  You have to manoeuvre your ungainly body carefully in the cramped space just to turn enough to hear her, your backside pressed uncomfortably against the elevator wall and the metal bar handhold.

She watches your effort with amusement, and you ask her to repeat herself.

"I said do you ever worry about this thing coming down?"  she says with a smirk

You have no idea what she is talking about at first, then she nods at the sign next to you. "The weight limit" she laughs, blushing now.

You aren't really sure how to respond to that. You're not sure what kind of response she is expecting, but decide to chalk it up to bad humour or some nerves,  and not as something mean spirited.  Besides, you barely weigh half the listed weight limit. 520 lbs isn't that big.

"Well, maybe if there were enough people in here with you, I mean." she eyes you up and down, "but I guess that wouldn't be a problem, you can barely even fit in here with just the two of us." she cracks another smile at you. For a moment annoyance threatens to make you go silent but her smile is very pretty and genuine.  She looks very small and delicate trapped between your bulk and the back wall of the elevator. As you turn to face her fully she has to take a step back, pressing herself up small against the wall, your body threatening to pin her there. Still, she keeps smiling at you, a glimmer in her eye. Neither of you look away.

Then with a shudder the elevator comes to a stop, and you find yourself dissapointed that the moment has come to an end. You shuffle to the side to make room - not that it makes much difference. A few people are waiting impatiently on this floor, but they all take one look at you and politely step away, allowing the doors to close.

Suddenly you hear the girl beside you start laughing, and as she smiles at you, you find yourself laughing too.
