  3. Still not sure about this
  4.
  5. >You, perhaps unwisely, appear right in the middle of Celestia's throne room
  6. >She looks up at you in shock as green energy discharges around you, disappearing into the walls
  7. >You weren't quite used to the entire "Super-magically-powerful" thing yet
  8. >"G- Guards!"
  9. >Celestia's face loses its surprise almost immediately
  10. >She was a ruler
  11. >And even your appearance couldn't shock her
  12. >"At the ready! Our enemy is not satisfied!"
  13. >You hear the noise of crossbows being pulled back
  14. >Behind you
  15. >Right where you know the doors to her room are
  16. >Of course, the guard would still be on high alert so soon after the invasion
  17. >It only made sense
  18. >"Fire when ready!"
  19. >You can see pain in her eyes
  20. >Tense neck muscles
  21. >She knows that it's you
  22. >She just doesn't know that you're still in control
  23. >The guards fire
  24. >You only bother to stop one arrow
  25. >The other flies right over your left shoulder, like you knew it would
  26. >"Celestia-"
  27. >"AGAIN"
  28. >You stop both this time
  29. >They probably didn't even have the force to penetrate your chitin, but they might scratch it
  30. >You can't have that
  31. >"Again!"
  32. >You sigh and turn around, waving your arms
  33. >Both guards freeze in place, surrounded by a green aura
  34. >You move back to Celestia
  35. >"Celestia-"
  36. >A blast of magic hits you in the face
  37. >It would have vaporized you
  38. >If it could effect you
  39. >"Ce-"
  40. >Again, magic
  41. >And again
  42. >"No!"
  43. >More blasts, increasing in violence
  44. >"I- I'm not letting her do this to you!"
  45. >You stare at her
  46. >Green eyes unblinking
  47. >She had to get it out of her system
  48. >"Not after you saved us!"
  49. >A final burst
  50. >More powerful than the others combined
  51. >You don't even feel it
  52. >"Not after... not..."
  53. >Celestia's panting
  54. >That used up all her magic
  55. >You take a few steps towards her
  56. >"Celly..."
  57. >"You- Oh, Anonymous. That monster... As if killing you wasn't bad enough... Creating this- This perversion..."
  58. >Her teeth are gritted
  59. >She looks like she's about to cry
  60. >You continue walking, stopping a foot away.
  61. >"Celestia"
  62. >"I am not a perversion."
  63. >She remains silent
  64. >"She tried to create one, but... Her plans backfired."
  65. >She looks up
  66. >"I'm Anonymous. Not the drone she wanted."
  67. >You flutter your wings slightly
  68. >She studies your face
  69. >"I'm supposed to believe that?"
  70. >"Celestia."
  71. >You smile
  72. >Then quickly close your lips
  73. >Right, you have fucking fangs and shit now
  74. >Smiling was no longer reassuring
  75. >"If you want, I could bring her here for you, in chains, to tell you herself."
  76. >She raises an eyebrow
  77. >"I'm... Well, okay. Maybe I'm not entirely 'me,' so to speak. My body has been completely altered. I'm not exactly a Changeling, but I don't think I'm a human anymore. My mind is normal, of course, but most other things are different. Including my new magical abilities."
  78. >You lift her throne up about a foot to demonstrate
  79. >"I can also feed on love, I think. I don't have to, unlike normal Changelings, but it..."
  80. >You struggle to find the words
  81. >"...Empowers me. And I'm feeling a hell of a lot of it right now. So I'm pretty much unstoppable."
  82. >She just stares at you
  83. >"How am I supposed to believe..."
  84. >"Celestia. You can't really consider gaining magical and shape-shifting abilities harmful, right?"
  85. >"I suppose not, but-"
  86. >"Right. So, no matter how much it hurt, that kind of magic helped me. Now, her trying to hurt my mind -- That causes objective harm. So that had no effect."
  87. >You smile again
  88. >"You should have seen the look on her face."
  89. >Celestia nods
  90. >"Plausible, I suppose, but... Look at you, Anonymous."
  91. >You look downwards, examining your body
  92. >You just not realize that you have clothes on
  93. >A dark green suit to go with your jet-black skin
  94. >Chitin
  95. >Whatever the fuck was on the outside of your body
  96. >"I know the spells that do this. I didn't think even she would stoop so low. I just-"
  97. >She bites her lip
  98. >"Anonymous. Going through that..."
  99. >You can't stand this shit anymore
  100. >You pull her into a hug
  101. >"I'm fine."
  102. >Her fur feels weird against your chitin
  103. >But good
  104. >Soft
  105. >"Anonymous..."
  106. >You keep her close, eyes shut
  107. >You were fucking alive
  108. >Alive and... Well, different, but way better
  109. >After that agony
  110. >It was a fucking miracle
  111. >Eventually, you pull back
  112. >Celestia's expression is still downtrodden at best
  113. >"It's good that you are alive, but she caused so much harm to you already... You kept your mind, but lost your body. I can't imagine going through that."
  114. >"Eh."
  115. >You shrug, wings fluttering slightly
  116. >"No so bad, really."
  117. >"Anonymous-"
  118. >She bites her lip, looking you over again
  119. >"It's understandable that you're having a bit of trouble reacting to this."
  120. >"I'm still getting used to it, yeah."
  121. >You glance behind you, at the still-frozen guards
  122. >"I wish I could help you, but-- Well, if your immunity decided to let the change happen in the first place, I doubt it would let us reverse it."
  123. >You nod
  124. >"I'm fine with it. Really."
  125. >The look on your face tells you that she doesn't believe you
  126. >Ah well
  127. >She'd come around eventually
  128. >"Now, uh... How long have I been gone, exactly?"
  129. >"The invasion was about a month and a week ago. It's June 5th." Made up this date at random
  130. >Holy fuck
  131. >You were being converted for a month
  132. >How the fuck did you not go insane?
  133. >Maybe you'd lost consciousness at some point
  134. >Or something
  135. >"I'm guessing that, legally, I died in that battle?"
  136. >Celestia hesitates, then nods
  137. >"I- I sensed that you were alive for some time after the battle, but you were fading fast. I wanted to mount a rescue mission but I didn't have the resources, and-"
  138. >She shuts her mouth
  139. >All the muscles in her body are tense, as if bracing herself for something
  140. >"Go on."
  141. >You try to make your voice seem gentle
  142. >Which was fucking difficult, now that it was all bug-like
  143. >"At some point, you just disappeared. Very suddenly. I thought she'd... Ended it."
  144. >You shrug
  145. >"Probably when she swallowed me whole. There was all kinds of fucked-up magic going on in there. I mean-"
  146. >You gesture down at yourself
  147. >"Heavy shit, right?"
  148. >"Still, Anonymous. I should have done everything I could to prevent this. I fully understand your position if you are angry with me."
  149. >You shrug
  150. >"It all turned out okay."
  151. >"No, it didn't. Not for you. You're alive, but you're not you, anymore."
  152. >You raise an eyebrow
  153. >"I dunno. I still feel like me."
  154. >"Anonymous-"
  155. >She stops herself again
  156. >You realize with some surprise that she's trying to go easy on you
  157. >She isn't speaking her mind, but not out of politeness
  158. >Out of concern
  159. >As if-
  160. >"I'm not in denial, Celestia."
  161. >A sad smile forms at the corners of her mouth
  162. >"Anonymous..."
  163. >"No, really."
  164. >You hover a few inches off the ground, wings flying to work
  165. >"I'm not. I'm a giant, freaky abomination of nature. I have wings, fangs, and fucking magical powers. I see everything differently, I feel everything differently, my hearing is alien to me, and I can turn love into energy for myself. I'm not a human anymore, Celestia. I'm fully aware of it."
  166. >You touch down, and feel water moving through you again
  167. >Soon, the old you stands there
  168. >Scruffy hair and all
  169. >"I'm not this anymore. I mean... I've obviously retained some characteristics, but this body is dead."
  170. >You snap back to your true form
  171. >"But I'm not a body. I'm a person. And that person is alive and kickin'."
  172. >You attempt a smile, then close it again
  173. >Okay
  174. >So your new body did have one downside
  175. >Those scary-ass teeth
  176. >It made emoting fucking impossible
  177. >"You seem awfully okay with this, Anonymous."
  178. >There's just the hint of an edge to her voice
  179. >Some degree of distrust
  180. >"I am okay with it."
  181. >"Forgive me, but that makes me question your motives."
  182. >You shrug again
  183. >"I don't really see the big deal. I mean, I was a freak before. Now I'm a freak with badass magic and fucking wings. I see that as a straight upgrade."
  184. >"But to throw your biology away..."
  185. >She's still not believing you
  186. >"Biology is irrelevant to who I am."
  187. >You're both silent for a moment
  188. >Just looking at each other
  189. >You can see the reflection of your black face in her eyes
  190. >Your own eyes are a bit bigger than usual
  191. >And they look almost exactly like Chrysalis'
  192. >It's a bit weird
  193. >But they're yours
  194. >"Anonymous. Would you be willing to meet with the other Princesses on this matter?"
  195. >"I don't see why it would be necessary."
  196. >"Anonymous."
  197. >Her voice is firm
  198. >"You stand in front of me, telling me that you are perfectly okay with the fact that Chrysalis permanently altered your body beyond recognition. While you may be truthful, it's suspicious, to say the least. Normally, I would allow you to live in my Kingdom, and determine how truthful you are about your motivations over time. But, in this case, the consequences for an error on my part are far too great. So I must establish that you are being honest as quickly as possible."
  199. >"So... It's like a trial, basically."
  200. >"Correct."
  201. >You can't hide your disappointment
  202. >"Sure. Yeah, I guess."
  203. >"Thank you. I will gather them as soon as possible."
  204. >You nod
  205. >"Also. Can you please release my guards?"
  206. >You do as she asks
  207. >They hit the ground pretty hard
  208. >Oops
  209. >Whatever
  210. >"Thank you. Wait here, Anonymous. It will only be a few minutes."
  211. >You nod, sitting down on the floor
  212. >Hm.
  213. >You didn't want to say that Chrysalis was right, but at the very least, you were wrong
  214. >This wasn't really a hero's welcome.
  215. >Celestia isn't gone long
  216. >Give minutes at most
  217. >"Okay, Anonymous. They're on their way, but we can't really meet here. Perhaps the Starswirl conference room?"
  218. >You remembered the Starswirl conference room
  219. >You'd stood in it, just behind Celestia, a few times
  220. >You didn't talk
  221. >You just stood there and looked intimidating
  222. >Well, not intimidating
  223. >Just weird
  224. >But you served your intended purpose: To soften up whomever Celestia was negotiating with
  225. >You knew what she used that room for
  226. >"Really, Celestia? The Starswirl conference room?"
  227. >You couldn't hide the pain in your voice
  228. >"I'm gone for a month, I get back, and you want me to go into the fucking war room to talk with my friends?"
  229. >"I can't take any chances."
  230. >You briefly consider telling her no
  231. >You were immune to her magic
  232. >And you had a lot of your own
  233. >She couldn't really resist you
  234. >But that wouldn't help your image
  235. >"Fine"
  236. >You walk to the room in a rage
  237. >Fuck this
  238. >Really, fuck this
  239. >The end result was awesome, but being in that cave -- not to mention her fucking stomach -- was pure hell
  240. >And you get back
  241. >And she's fucking questioning you?
  242. >You already proved that she was useless against you in a fight
  243. >She'd used all the magic that she had on you and you were unscratched
  244. >You could have fucking--
  245. >Did whatever she thought you were going to her, right then
  246. >In that instant
  247. >And you hadn't
  248. >You'd given her a fucking hug
  249. >And now you were on your way to a fucking war negotiation room
  250. >To be fucking interviewed by people who were your friends
  251. >You take a few deep breaths, trying to keep in control
  252. >You were beyond happy with your new body
  253. >Yeah, it was weird, but it was certainly better than the old one
  254. >But the process to get there fucking sucked
  255. >And your return fucking sucked
  256. >And-
  257. >"Anonymous."
  258. >You look up, your thought interrupted
  259. >"You walked past the door."
  260. >You turn
  261. >"Sorry."
  262. >Soon, you're sitting in a chair, opposite Celestia
  263. >You look at the desk, trying to cool off
  264. >Celestia isn't gone long
  265. >Give minutes at most
  266. >"Okay, Anonymous. They're on their way, but we can't really meet here. Perhaps the Starswirl conference room?"
  267. >You remembered the Starswirl conference room
  268. >You'd stood in it, just behind Celestia, a few times
  269. >You didn't talk
  270. >You just stood there and looked intimidating
  271. >Well, not intimidating
  272. >Just weird
  273. >But you served your intended purpose: To soften up whomever Celestia was negotiating with
  274. >You knew what she used that room for
  275. >"Really, Celestia? The Starswirl conference room?"
  276. >You couldn't hide the pain in your voice
  277. >"I'm gone for a month, I get back, and you want me to go into the fucking war room to talk with my friends?"
  278. >"I can't take any chances."
  279. >You briefly consider telling her no
  280. >You were immune to her magic
  281. >And you had a lot of your own
  282. >She couldn't really resist you
  283. >But that wouldn't help your image
  284. >"Fine"
  285. >You walk to the room in a rage
  286. >Fuck this
  287. >Really, fuck this
  288. >The end result was awesome, but being in that cave -- not to mention her fucking stomach -- was pure hell
  289. >And you get back
  290. >And she's fucking questioning you?
  291. >You already proved that she was useless against you in a fight
  292. >She'd used all the magic that she had on you and you were unscratched
  293. >You could have fucking--
  294. >Did whatever she thought you were going to her, right then
  295. >In that instant
  296. >And you hadn't
  297. >You'd given her a fucking hug
  298. >And now you were on your way to a fucking war negotiation room
  299. >To be fucking interviewed by people who were your friends
  300. >You take a few deep breaths, trying to keep in control
  301. >You were beyond happy with your new body
  302. >Yeah, it was weird, but it was certainly better than the old one
  303. >But the process to get there fucking sucked
  304. >And your return fucking sucked
  305. >And-
  306. >"Anonymous."
  307. >You look up, your thought interrupted
  308. >"You walked past the door."
  309. >You turn
  310. >"Sorry."
  311. >Soon, you're sitting in a chair, opposite Celestia
  312. >You look at the desk, trying to cool off
  313. >You hear the door open
  314. >"Sister! I came as soon as I-"
  315. >She stops, wings instantly unfurling as she notices you
  316. >"Anonymous! He's-"
  317. >"Yeah."
  318. >You give her a little wave
  319. >"I'm alive."
  320. >"But... His mind-"
  321. >"100% fine. Just the body changed."
  322. >She stamps her hoof
  323. >"Oh, curse Chrysalis! Only a complete monster would do such things!"
  324. >She stands tall
  325. >"I understand, Anonymous. You were completely at our service when we required it. I shall be completely at yours in your time of need. I shall not rest until we have restored you to your natural form!"
  326. >"Sister..."
  327. >Celestia's talking in a whisper
  328. >Far too quiet for you to normally here
  329. >But, with your new senses, you easily picked it up
  330. >"Yes?"
  331. >"He's not willing to change."
  332. >You see a muscle below her neck twitch
  333. >"What?"
  334. >"Wait until the others are here."
  335. >As if on cue, the door opens again
  336. >"Aunti-"
  337. >Cadence freezes in fear when she sees you
  338. >You give her another wave
  339. >"Hello."
  340. >"You- you--"
  341. >"Totally sapient, not under that bitch's control. Trust me."
  342. >She nods, silently
  343. >"I knew she was a monster, but this..."
  344. >"Look. Before Celestia has to whisper the rest of the info at you-"
  345. >You shoot Celestia a pointed look as a tinge of red shoots across her face
  346. >"I think you should sit down and wait for Twilight. Gotcha?"
  347. >She looks annoyed, but does as you ask
  348. >You go back to examining the wood of the table
  349. >Twilight shows up last, in a bust of magic
  350. >She's standing on the table, facing away from you
  351. >"Sorry for taking so long Princess. I had to deal with some issues in my own kingdom."
  352. >She looks down
  353. >"Oh, horsefeathers. I overshot. I meant to be in the doorway. Sorry, Princess..."
  354. >"She won't mind."
  355. >Twilight freezes when she hears your voice
  356. >It was different, yes, but still recognizable
  357. >Slowly, she turns around
  358. >"Anonymous?"
  359. >Her eyes lock on your body
  360. >You can't help but smile
  361. >She tackle-hugs you
  362. >"Oh my Celestia, you're alive! You're alive!"
  363. >You nod, leaning your head down slightly
  364. >You can feel her starting to cry
  365. >"You- You survived-"
  366. >You press your head into her fur, feeling her warmth
  367. >This is what you fucking wanted
  368. >"Even after- After I-"
  369. >"I told you to, Twilight."
  370. >You remember the day clearly
  371. >Well, clearly according to your old definition of "clear"
  372. >It paled in comparison to what you could perceive now, but still, it was well-preserved
  373. >Like a low-resolution but high-bitrate video
  374. >You and Twilight were being distracted by an issue involving a Cockatrice in the Everfree when Twilight finally got Celestia's message
  375. >By the time you got to Canterlot, it was almost fully taken
  376. >Chrysalis was standing on a ridiculous floating platform, next to some kind of black ray gun
  377. >It looked stupid, but it was doing fucking work
  378. >Each blast left a crater ten feet in diameter
  379. >You hadn't hesitated when you said "Put me up there"
  380. >Twilight obliged
  381. >The next thing you knew, you were hugging the blast head of the thing as Chrysalis laughed at your "futile sacrifice"
  382. >She had another thing coming when all the magic from it ricocheted off you and back into whatever kind of power source it used, causing a massive explosion
  383. >You hit your head on something as you flew
  384. >Everything after that was dark
  385. >"I- I should have done more to protect you! I should have known it would-"
  386. >"Ssshhhh..."
  387. >You stroke her back, closing your eyes
  388. >"It's fine now. I'm fine."
  389. >You pull back and look her in the eyes, grinning
  390. >"C'mon. Did you really think a stupid-ass bug could actually hurt me?"
  391. >"But... Anonymous..."
  392. >She looks down your body, each inch her eyes travel increasing the utter despair on her face
  393. >"Look what she did to you!"
  394. >"I know. That's the reason this meeting's going on, actually."
  395. >"Twilight."
  396. >Celestia's voice is stern, but not cruel
  397. >Her student looks back at the mentor
  398. >"Sit down."
  399. >Twilight looks at you, confused
  400. >You tilt your head downwards about 5 degrees (0.0872664626 radians)
  401. >She hops down off your chair, and quickly trots to hers
  402. >"Rulers of Equestria. We are here today to discuss Anonymous, and his current situation."
  403. >You look around you
  404. >"What, are you doing this for the minutes that nobody's taking? Just cut to it."
  405. >You can't hide the bitterness in your voice
  406. >"Very well."
  407. >Celestia glances at her sister
  408. >"Anonymous has been converted to a Changeling-"
  409. >"Human-ling, actually. I don't have the 'requires love to live' thing."
  410. >Celestia glares at you, then continues:
  411. >"A human-ling, by the dark magic of the evil Queen Chrysalis. He claims that his mind has been unaltered. Correct?"
  412. >"Yeah."
  413. >"However..."
  414. >Celestia leans forward, almost imperceptibly
  415. >"He also claims that he has no issues with his change. That is, if given the option, he would prefer to stay altered. Is that correct, Anonymous?"
  416. >You sigh, then flick both of your hands outwards
  417. >The word "YES" appears in bold green letters above you
  418. >The three alicorns in the room who weren't introduced to your magic before stare at the words, confused
  419. >You roll your eyes and subtitle the message with "Yes, I'm generating this with my own magic" in smaller letters beneath it
  420. >You even add a helpful arrow that points at yourself
  421. >Celestia nods, almost smugly
  422. >"So, fellow Equestrian rulers. I saw fit to call you here, so we may better understand the reasoning behind his feelings, and so we may determine the proper course of action once that reasoning is determined."
  423. >Luna nods, immediately
  424. >Cadence is slightly more hesitant
  425. >Twilight looks at you for a moment
  426. >You look back, unblinking
  427. >Slowly, her head bobs, like the others
  428. >Although hers stays tilted downwards in sadness
  429. >"Gotcha. Okay."
  430. >You lean back in your chair, resisting the urge to put your feet up on the table
  431. >Your hands are up at both sides of you, fingers outstretched as if about to grasp something
  432. >"So before we start, can we just get a handle on the situation?"
  433. >Celestia is silent in response, so you just keep going
  434. >"I drop in here like a year ago. You guys become friends with me almost fucking instantly. I go to stay in Princess Twilight's castle, for god's sake. She does a bunch of research on me, and accidentally discovers that no magical harm can come to me."
  435. >You give Twilight a look before moving on
  436. >"So ever since that day, I've been at every function you ask me to. Every fucking magical creature that gets out, every time there's 'dangerous magical radiation' in a cave you guys need something from, shit, I even helped Shining train some recruits how to use fucking offensive spells by painting a target on my chest one time. You guys remember all that happening, right?"
  437. >Luna nods, as does Cadence
  438. >Twilight just looks at the wood
  439. >And Celestia looks at you
  440. >"So I help you guys out for about six months. Then, some fucking bug-monster-shapeshifter-love-eaters decide to invade, and bring a fucking canon. And without hesitation, I save your sorry asses, again. But this time, I don't come out of it alright."
  441. >You pause for effect
  442. >"No. No, I spend a fucking week in a dark cave, getting drugged out of my mind, and not eating. Now, I don't know if the rest of you understand how that feels, but Cadence, you were kidnapped by her before. Not a good deal, right?"
  443. >"It was... unpleasant."
  444. >"Yeah. Yeah, fucking 'unpleasant.' Except, you, you just got kidnapped. Me, she fucking *swallows me whole* and *transforms my entire body with fucking dark magic.*"
  445. >Your voice is raising slightly in volume
  446. >You can't hide your anger
  447. >"And, when I get out, it turns out that her fucking crazy plan backfires. It turns out, that I really *can't* be hurt by magic, so my mind -- which she tried to destroy -- is totally fine. All she really did was give me bad-ass magic powers, and, well, some other new biological things. But I'm okay."
  448. >Celestia opens her mouth to speak, but you just keep going
  449. >"I wake up in a better body, and she expects me to serve her. I tell her to fuck off, and immediately go back to see my friends, who (in this new body) I can sense are really hurting because they think I'm fucking *dead*. And I get back, and the next thing I know I'm in the fucking war room, and you guys are grilling me for the fate of Equestria."
  450. >"Anonymous! Enoug-"
  451. >You wave your arms and silence Celestia
  452. >"No, No, it's not fucking enough! It really isn't!"
  453. >You're screaming at this point
  454. >"I was willing to give my LIFE for you assholes, and I somehow survive. And not only do I survive, I'm fucking USEFUL now."
  455. >You slam your fist on the table
  456. >You're just screaming at this point
  457. >"I'm not just- just a fucking magical shield, who can't work the fucking earth for shit, who can't fucking fly, and who can't fucking cast spells. Now..."
  458. >"I have fucking MAGIC."
  459. >You hit the table again
  460. >The oak wood cracks where your black hand hits it, and green sparks fly in the air
  461. >"And YOU PEOPLE-"
  462. >You don't even notice as you lift their chairs into the air
  463. >"FUCKING INTERVIEW ME LIKE A FUCKING CRIMINAL, WHEN IF I WANTED TO HARM EQUESTRIA, I WOULD HAVE JUST FUCKING DONE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!"
  464. >Your words echo about the palace
  465. >Maybe their volume was magically enhanced
  466. >You take a few shaky breaths, teeth still clenched
  467. >You look up, expecting a response
  468. >You don't get one
  469. >The Alicorns are encased in green bubbles, floating gently in the air in front of you
  470. >You can see them visibly struggle, their horns alight, but it's no use
  471. >You have the love of a fucking nation behind you
  472. >They're useless
  473. >You could do whatever you wanted to them right now and they would be completely powerless to stop you
  474. >So, naturally, you put them down
  475. >You were ashamed of yourself for lifting them at all
  476. >Of course they were fucking interviewing you
  477. >Look at what you just did
  478. >They'd be stupid not to
  479. >Chrysalis had made you specifically to hurt them, and-
  480. >And you were okay with it
  481. >Of course that's suspicious
  482. >You gently re-arrange their chairs, then let them go
  483. >They all stand there, motionless
  484. >Fear on their faces
  485. >"I-"
  486. >You close your eyes
  487. >"I'm sorry."
  488. >Your voice is hollow
  489. >As if you used it up screaming at them
  490. >"I just..."
  491. >You exhale, opening your eyes and looking up
  492. >"In the cave she said that you wouldn't accept me. I told her to shut up. I gave her a speech about how Friendship would transcend what she did to me."
  493. >You shrug, sadly
  494. >"I didn't... I didn't want her to be right, you know? Because she's evil. Because she helped me, but to do it, she hurt me. She really, really hurt me. And..."
  495. >You look down again
  496. >"The thought of her being right was just-- it hurt so much more, I guess."
  497. >Well
  498. >You fucked up
  499. >"Look. Whatever. You want me to get the hell out of your country, I'll do it. I understand."
  500.
  501. >The room is totally silent
  502. >You know you should look up at them, but you can't
  503. >You just close your eyes
  504. >"Anonymous..."
  505. >Twilight's voice trails off
  506. >You just shake your head in response, face clenching even harder
  507. >What the fuck were you doing?
  508. >"Twilight."
  509. >Celestia's voice is warmer now
  510. >Fuck
  511. >Probably trying to let her down easily when she banished your ass
  512. >"Let me speak to him."
  513. >You take a deep breath and look up
  514. >There's not a trace of fear on her visage
  515. >"You have shown to us-"
  516. >"Sister."
  517. >Surprised, you turn to Luna
  518. >She's staring daggers at her sister's face
  519. >"Remember the last time a powerful being had an outburst."
  520. >"Sister. The situations aren't even close to comparable-"
  521. >"No, they are not."
  522. >She points to you
  523. >"He stopped himself. There were no elements of harmony here."
  524. >"He could not-"
  525. >"He could, sister."
  526. >Her hoof jabs in your direction, emphasizing her point
  527. >"He could have. You know as well as I. Chrysalis was easily able to defeat you based off the fraudulent love of just Shining Armor. He has the justified love of a nation."
  528. >"Which is why we must-"
  529. >"He STOPPED, sister."
  530. >She slips into the Royal Canterlot Voice
  531. >Just for a moment
  532. >But it's enough to make her sister draw her attention away from you
  533. >"This wasn't a sudden outburst. This is the product of immense pain and suffering."
  534. >"He might be-"
  535. >"Sister."
  536. >Luna's voice is the most dangerous kind of quiet
  537. >"I know more than thee about this matter. Do not let your own fears cloud your judgement."
  538. >For a moment, a battle of gazes happens in the air in front of you
  539. >Eventually, the sister of the day steps down, her head bobbing in grudging agreement
  540. >Satisfied, Luna turns to you
  541. >You keep moving as you listen to the clicking with intense hatred
  542. >You wanted to stomp this bug into oblivion, and when you died, follow it into oblivion and keep pounding it into the ground
  543. >An eternity of retribution sounded nice in your head
  544. >You stop to take another break and listen to the clicking echo through the tunnel
  545. >It sounds like you are about to reach it again
  546. >You sit there listening and slowly refueling with rage when the clicking stops
  547. >There's silence for about a minute, then it starts up again
  548. >You keep listening as you hear the clicking stop again as a loud crunch echoes throughout the tunnel
  549. >You keep listening
  550. >Silence
  551. >Now you're praying for it to start clicking again as you start to break out into a cold sweat
  552. >Nothing but silence, except for the faint pounding of your own heart
  553. >Whatever just killed that rad roach had to be as big as you at least
  554. >A more terrifying thought is realizing that you're not alone in this tunnel anymore, something is waiting in the darkness
  555. >You quietly sit in the dark and try to steady your breathing, whatever it is, it might leave eventually if given enough time
  556. >You lay there in the dark for about 5 minutes
  557. >It takes all your will power to start moving again, you have to at least get out of this tunnel
  558. >You keep moving on and feel what might be another curve in the tunnel
  559. >As you slowly turn left, you start to see something
  560. >"Anonymous. As somebody with considerable experience in the area, I know that this outburst was not a sudden flare-up. You are angry at events in recent memory, but that anger has simply ignited a much larger charge within th- you."
  561. >You suppressed a smile
  562. >She'd came a long way, but she still occasionally slipped into her old "thee"s and "thou"s.
  563. >It was kind of cute
  564. >In both the "Cute Girl" and "Cute kitten" sense of the word
  565. >"So. What are you upset about?"
  566. >You think back
  567. >Yeah, you were fucking pissed at the situation, but...
  568. >You find yourself talking
  569. >"I'm not from here."
  570. >You take a brief moment to collect your thoughts
  571. >"I'm not... I don't belong here. And no, it's not you guys. You guys welcomed me better than I could ever imagine. Well, besides recently, but I guess that's more my fault than yours. But... I'm not supposed to be here."
  572. >You stand up
  573. >"Look at this chair. It's not designed for me to sit on it. It's designed for a quadruped. I'm supposed to sit like this."
  574. >You try to approximate how they're sitting, with your feet on the chair
  575. >"But that's not how I sit, is it?"
  576. >You move back to your initial position
  577. >"And when I go to a restaurant, they offer stuff like barely and daisy sandwiches. But I don't eat that stuff."
  578. >They look more confused than before
  579. >Hopefully this would start making sense eventually
  580. >"All around me are reminders that I'm totally alien. I don't- I shouldn't be here. I am the only member of my species. And you guys are awesome about it, you really are. Really accepting. But that doesn't change the fact that I shouldn't exist here. Every time I use a restroom, every time I try to get something to eat, every time I sit down, I'm reminded that I'm living in a world that isn't designed for me. I mean, fuck."
  581. >You point at your chest
  582. >"Even before the entire Human-ling thing, I was immune to magic, but only selectively. Which isn't something any other creature in Equestria has. It doesn't make any sense."
  583. >"I- I like it here, but it's not home. I know it's not. In fact..."
  584. >You look at them in turn
  585. >"You guys are the only thing that made me feel at home. Everything else just-- It screams rejection at me. And sometimes that's nice. I mean, being able to take literally any kind of spell to the face and be fine is nice, I guess. But it still lets me know that I don't belong."
  586. >You can see Twilight nod, and even Celestia's face is softening
  587. >"Except you guys. So, when I got changed, I thought -- I mean, fuck, I'm an abomination of nature anyway, right? Might as well have magic powers and shit with it. I mean--"
  588. >You look at Twilight
  589. >"When you got your wings it was scary, right? I mean, great, but scary. Because suddenly you're a Princess, and you're not really 'normal' anymore. Right?"
  590. >She nods
  591. >"I didn't feel that. For me, it's a straight upgrade. Because I was never normal. So, I mean, add black skin -- really chitin, I guess -- and bug wings, and magic, and that comes with no downsides. So when you guys got all scared, I..."
  592. >You shrug
  593. >"I thought that maybe it wasn't. That maybe it was going to rip away the only thing that made me feel like I belonged. And I was just..."
  594. >You look at Celestia
  595. >"I was so scared of that happening that I kind of lost control. I promise, it won't happen again."
  596. >"Thank you for your explanation, Anonymous."
  597. >Luna's eyes drift towards her sister, although her face remains pointed at you
  598. >You tilt your head toward the Princess of the Sun
  599. >"Hmmmm..."
  600. >She believes you
  601. >Or, at least, she partially believes you
  602. >That much you can tell
  603. >"I suppose that your anger is, to an extent, understandable."
  604. >You can feel your heart racing in your chest
  605. >"And, perhaps I have treated you unfairly."
  606. >Come on
  607. >Please
  608. >"But I cannot allow you to live in my kingdom..."
  609. >It feels like the blood is draining out of you
  610. >You half-expect there to be a red puddle around your feet
  611. >Or, well, whatever color you bled now
  612. >"...unless you submit to extensive magical testing and psychological evaluations."
  613. >You exhale in relief
  614. >Thank god
  615. >"I accept those terms."
  616. >"Outside of the kingdom."
  617. >"As in...?"
  618. >"A special facility."
  619. >You consider it for a moment
  620. >Well
  621. >It couldn't be too bad, could it?
  622. >"Sure."
  623. >"For at least four months. Preferably as long as six, or even a year."
  624. >You freeze
  625. >That long, without seeing any of your friends?
  626. >You didn't know if you could take it
  627. >"Who's going to be monitoring me?"
  628. >"The top psychologists and magicians in Equestria. Including us."
  629. >Well
  630. >At least that's four of your friends
  631. >Or maybe three
  632. >You aren't really sure about Celestia anymore
  633. >"I... I can deal with that."
  634. >"Good. Twilight, do you know of a suitable place for this facility?"
  635. >"Well... the Everfree has many miles of totally unexplored territory, and it's quite possible to magically construct a building with great speed."
  636. >You gesture with a hand
  637. >"I could help, if need be. I mean, we need to construct it pretty quickly, right?"
  638. >"Yes. As soon as possible."
  639. >"Well, yeah."
  640. >You look at Twilight
  641. >"I know how good you are with magic, and, again, I'm love-supercharged over here. We can do it tomorrow, or something."
  642. >"No."
  643. >Your head rotates back to Celestia
  644. >"Anonymous. I do believe you. But, after that outburst, I do not feel comfortable having you in my kingdom."
  645. >You stay silent
  646. >"We shall build you a facility. Today. You will live in it until I know for sure I can trust you."
  647. >You look down at the crack in the table, tracing along it with a finger
  648. >"Fine."
  649. - - -
  650. >Lavender walls
  651. >Kind of tacky, but it worked
  652. >Matched the bedsheet, at least
  653. >And it kind of reminded you of Twilight.
  654. >Maybe she did that intentionally
  655. >You slump down on your new bed, staring at the ceiling
  656. >Well
  657. >It's better than a fucking cave, at least
  658. >And you're there voluntarily
  659. >You can leave at any time
  660. >You won't, though.
  661. >If you leave, you will never get the chance to be with your friends again
  662. >Well, unless you just overthrow Celestia and install yourself as dictator of Equestria
  663. >But you kinda doubt they'll still be friends with you after that
  664. >You close your eyes
  665. >It's late
  666. >You should sleep
  667. - - -
  668. >You're standing over Celestia, a huge grin on your face
  669. >"You want to lock me up, huh?"
  670. >She shakes her head vigorously, desperately scrambling towards the ruins of her throne
  671. >You keep advancing on her
  672. >"Put me in another fucking cage? That's your idea? Well, shit, Princess. That's not gonna fly."
  673. >You grab her with magic and lift her into the air, her broken wing splayed out at an awkward angle
  674. >She sobs in pain as you jostle it
  675. >"Idiot. Most of Equestria still loves me. Of course, Canterlot doesn't, but who needs them?"
  676. >You draw her close to your face, and relax, exhaling deeply
  677. >Green smoke flows from your mouth
  678. >"And soon... I won't need love at all. Not after this."
  679. >Celestia's mouth opens to scream, but nothing comes out except smoke of her own
  680. >You inhale it, feeling it empower you as she slowly shrivels away
  681. >You discard her corpse after you're finished, feeling the love of the Sun-Goddess flowing through your veins
  682. >"Ahhhhh..."
  683. >You step over the ruins of her throne, gazing at the hole you blasted in Canterlot castle
  684. >Below you are hundreds of guards and citizens, desperate to protect their princess
  685. >They failed, of course. Their Princess is gone
  686. >What's left is you
  687. >King Anonymous
  688. >Has a nice ring to it
  689. >First, though, you have to deal with her former citizens
  690. >They'd make a nice meal
  691. >You see some of the pegasi taking off, flying in your direction at breakneck speeds
  692. >A smile twitches at the corners of your lips
  693. >"Well."
  694. >You feel magic swirling around you as they near you
  695. >"Come up and get me!"
  696. >You jump down at them, green lightning swirling around you
  697. - - -
  698. >Your eyes snap open
  699. >Your whole body is tense as you slowly sit up, rubbing your hands over your face
  700. >Black hands
  701. >Human-ling hands
  702. >So you didn't dream that part
  703. >But the rest...
  704. >You light up the room with a dull green glow
  705. >Purple walls
  706. >So that part wasn't, either
  707. >Thankfully the rest was
  708. >You try to calm your racing heart as you lay back down
  709. >It was just a nightmare
  710. >It's not like you could actually-
  711. >No
  712. >No way
  713. >You couldn't-
  714. >You struggle for the concept for the next few hours, before, slowly, drifting back to a troubled sleep
