  1. 12 Hour Challenge FAQ:
  2.
  3. Q: What is the 12 Hour Challenge?
  4. A: This 12 Hour Challenge is a speedrunning challenge initiated by Golden in 2015. Happening bi-annually, the idea is that you pick up a game you've never run before, and try to get as good a time as you can within 12 hours.

  6. Due to the nature of the challenge, it's very inclusive, as there is no real pressure to be extremely good as you are just starting out in the game, and everyone can participate in any way they like. It gets people to branch out from the games they might normally run and potentially find something new they really like. It also highlights some of the learning phases of speedrunning, and deomnstrates that no one starts off being elite. There's over 450 people signed up, so if you wanna watch more people, there's plenty of options.

  8. I myself haven't participated since the first installation, where I ran Warioware Inc. It ended up being a really good pick for me, and I picked up the second game in that series and run them both pretty seriously now. The same thing might not happen this time though. The game I am running, is Sonic Jam for the Game.Com
  9.
  10. Q: ...What is this game?
  11. A: A very good question.
  12.
  13. Q: No, seriously?
  14. A: Alright. So Tiger Electronics made a handheld system in 1997 that changed the gaming world as we know it. It was called the Game.com. Featuring a touch screen and internet connectivity it was truly ahead of it's time. Purchasing the right to some well sort after licences, it's 20 game library features some genuinely well known hits, such as Duke Nukem 3D, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and Resident Evil 2. The one that really caught my eye however, was Sonic Jam.
  15.
  16. Not unlike it's Sega Saturn namesake, the game allows you to play some of the Genesis classics. Ditching the overworld, you jump straight into the games of Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. While all of this sounds wonderful, the problem is that outside of actually taking the sprites fairly decently, this game is a hot ass dunk-your-dick-in-a-sea-of-needles piece of shit. So naturally, speedrunning it seemed like the natural choice.
  17.
  18. Q: What is the record?
  19. A: https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Jam_Game.com | Only Sonic 3 (with Tails) has a run (I can't believe someone ran this before me)
  20.
  21. Q: So what's your goal?
  22. A: To complete runs of all the categories!
