  1. The game actually made changes that I liked, turning the experience into a more streamlined one and less of time sinker. The potions have a long recovery time, and they don't offer immediate healing, just regeneration. Town portals and identifies don't require you to stock scrolls. Portals have a big startup which can be interrupted, so that you can't use them to escape from death.
  2. There are no mana potions, and each class regenerates its "mana" by either time or by attacking normally. Again it eliminates potion spam in favor of smarter resource managing.
  3. There are no permanent character builds anymore. You have no control over the stats (str dex etc.), and you can configure and swap the character's skills as you wish, so while there is no personal character development decision making for the long run, at least you don't get fucked by not following a super hardcore guide in advance. Since I don't like being punished for making mistakes I can't know they are mistakes when I made them ("lost forevers"?) I'd take that over the past systems.
  4. So what I didn't like? Well, that it's still Diablo with all the stuff I hate in the genre. (After all the years in development and the hype it got maybe I expected it to elevate the genre into new heights. A mistake on my part.) It still seems to reward luck and grind and not designed to allow skilled action play and/or smart decision making to shine. I also believe the primary reason for the game's existence is the real money auction house, so they'll build the game to "encourage" you to use that, by having good equipment make a big difference.
  5. Some more design problems I had with it-
  6. 1.The classic camera view and click to kill controls may define the series, but are still not something to be proud of, because they hurt immersion. Give me a closer-to-the-action angle and direct control over my character.
  7. 2.Multiplayer is supposed to be more fun but in this game it completely ruins the little immersion it did have and makes it look like an MMORPG. Talk to NPC->go raid a dungeon->kill ultimate force of destruction for the 50th time->get reward for quest->rinse repeat. I enjoyed it more when I played by myself, and it's also better to feel ALONE inside a dark, hostile dungeon.
  8. 3.You have to beat normal to unlock hard (hell?) and you have to beat hard to unlock very hard (inferno?) and that's even before they expect you to finish the game with every type of character.
  9. Single player video games should be designed with a single playthrough in mind. To give you the best one time experience. Forcing you to see everything at least 3 times is "fake content" and ruins the fun. Give me access to inferno from the get go! When I encounter something for the 1st time, I want it to be the best time, not in pussy boring normal mode!
  10. I hope you enjoyed my 3000 word "review" of D3.
