- >You are Anon.
- >And you nervously adjusted your tie again… for the fifth time.
- >God Anon, just calm down!
- >It’s just a date, you’ve been on them before.
- >Like one time and it was found out later that your mother bribed her into going out with you.
- >That stung.
- >And now here you were, getting ready to go out with the… woman… of your dreams.
- >Even though your friends were apprehensive, when they realized just how seriously you felt, they fell in line.
- >There was only one restaurant she requested to go to, it was called Tainted Love.
- >Funny, considering its regular customers.
- >Life was different then what you had been used to where you were from.
- >But then again, considering the differences in locale, it wasn’t too surprising.
- >Back home you had to deal with pollution, sarcastic assholes, and unfriendly crowds.
- >But here, you got to deal with friendly neighbors, clear air, reliable weather, and kind strangers.
- >Then again, you had to deal with the fact that all those neighbors and strangers were pastel colored ponies.
- >It just happened one night, you fell asleep in bed and when you awoke, you were lying in a fountain, in what you found out later was downtown Ponyville.
- >Two weeks and several confused conversations later, Princess Celestia offered you a job as her personal aide, considering your previous work at your state’s treasury department as a clerk.
- >You were so used to seeing things in debt that it was a pleasant surprise to deal with an entity with surplus.
- >You took your weekends off and spent them in Ponyville to relax with your friends.
- >Then, everything changed when the Changelings attacked…
- >They attacked the wedding and took everyone hostage, including you.
- >When Shining Armor and Cadence expelled them, the two changelings that had been pinning you down got blasted away too, you got pulled along for the ride as well.
- >From what you remember, you had been soaring in the sky with the Changelings desperately trying to support your weight.
- >Why they didn’t let go to save themselves, you didn't know, but the three of you were shooting through the sky like a rocket.
- >Suffice to say, you were just too heavy for the two small bugs to keep airborne, and the three of you crashed awkwardly into the ground.
- >You lost consciousness, probably because you landed on your head.
- >You awoke sometime later, it was dark and the stars were out in the sky.
- >There was a small fire being tended by one of the two changelings.
- >You tried to sit up, it was then you noticed that the other changeling was acting as your pillow.
- >Huh, felt softer then you expected.
- >When you tried to move your head however, you suddenly felt nauseous, like your brain was swimming in your stomach.
- “Oh man, that can’t be good.”
- The changeling by the fire snapped to attention, “You’re awake.”
- >You could not make out a gender, but it sounded slightly feminine.
- “Should I be?”
- >”You are lucky to be alive. You must be made of sterner stuff then ponies, I can guarantee you one of them wouldn’t have survived hitting their heads at that speed."
- >You decided that this changeling was definitely a girl, the tone was a dead giveaway now that you were focused.
- “I suppose I should be thanking you and your friend here for saving me, though it is your fault I am out here in the first place… what’s your name?”
- >She looked down at the ground, “I am drone 327.”
- >Wut?
- “Do you not have a real name?”
- >”No, us drones don’t have need for one so we just go by birthing order.”
- “Huh, that’s weird, and yet it kinda makes sense.”
- >She gave you a wry smile, “It’s still dark out, get some rest we have a long walk tomorrow and you will need your energy.”
- >You obliged, and laid back down, feeling the warmth of the changeling underneath you.
- >It was strange, even though it obviously had a carapace, there was much more give to it then you imagined it would have.
- >It was much more resistant then skin, and yet it was slightly flexible like plastic.
- >You drifted off to sleep with its soft breaths calming your mind.
- >You woke up the next morning with the smell of burning flesh on the wind.
- >Rolling over quickly in case the fire had spread to you, you relaxed when you felt no pain except the dull throbbing in your head for moving so fast.
- >The changeling looked at you with curiosity, “Are you ok?”
- “Yeah, just instincts I guess.”
- >She nodded, probably knew exactly what you meant, “Come and eat, you will need some sustenance.”
- >It was then you saw it, the snake on the fire.
- >The smell it was putting off was mouthwatering.
- >You don’t know how she managed to strip and prepare it, but that didn’t matter.
- >It had been a while since you had some meat.
- >It was when the griffons sent some diplomats over and Celestia had the kitchen offer up some meat for them.
- >You just piggybacked on their meals.
- >You quickly devoured the snake, noshing on it like a starving man being offered a T-bone steak.
- >Back home, your mom had once prepared a snake meal once, it tasted very similar just without the seasoning.
- >The changelings, both of whom were awake and were watching you wordlessly, seemed to be stunned by how you were eating.
- >If you could have seen yourself, as they saw you, you would have seen a large predator viciously tearing into its prey.
- >But this didn’t scare them, for they were predators too in a way.
- >To them, you were something more like them than the ponies they fed off of.
- >When you finished with your meal, you gave a great sigh of contentment and pulled a toothpick from your pocket.
- >You never left home without your homemade toothpicks, as dental hygiene was very important.
- >And because you didn’t want to give Colgate another excuse for her to examine your teeth again.
- “So… what now?”
- >The changeling you had been laying on all night spoke for the first time, “We will take you to the Queen to see what we should do with you.”
- >Alarm bells rang in your head and you rose to your feet,
- “And what if I refuse?”
- >You were not a small member of your species, standing at 6’5’’ you were a sizeable man, but they were not impressed it seemed by your display.
- >”You will be presented to Queen Chrysalis… one way or another.”
- >This one was a male, and there was no doubt in your mind he would hurt you if he had to get you to cooperate.
- >In peak condition, you could probably handle these two… but given your head injury, it was more likely fighting was going to end horribly.
- >Best to just cooperate for now.
- “Fine, you win. Lead the way.”
- >And so began your journey.
- >As the three of you walked through the wasteland, you decided to ask your changeling chaperones some questions to pass the time.
- "So, what's it like being a changeling if you don't mind my asking?"
- >The two of them looked at each other and shared a small chuckle, the girl responded with her own question, "What's it like being... whatever you are?"
- >Might as well answer her question, you had nothing better to do.
- "Well, back on Earth I was considered impressively normal. Here... well let's just say it was hard going in the beginning."
- >The Princess's had been pretty apprehensive when it came to trusting you.
- >It took them a few weeks of careful observation by the Royal Guard before they considered you safe for the general public.
- >You wound up becoming good friends with one of the cadets, he would talk for hours about himself and his dreams of becoming a famous Royal Guardsman.
