The Liberation of the Self

Why do I see the iron door beside my mind
Why do I see the golden chains beside my hands
Why do I see the silver cage placed on my lap

Why do I feel so forlorn
Why do I feel oh so alone
I wish I could go back
Go back a million times
Change almost everything
And yet I know I can't

It's just my life
It's all I have
And yet I cannot seem to merely be happy at myself

Life is rough
It's hard and constant bumps are the norm
But knowing doesn't make dealing with it any better

To learn to cope and grow within
That is the struggle we all face in life

The golden key
The iron hammer that breaks the bounded chains
The silver bird flying off into the sky
Leads to the liberation of the mind
Yet at this moment, that liberation seems so far
Yet so close....
