- It was just a normal day for me, well, perhaps not so normal. Today was the release date for the newest pokemon game, Pokemon Mustard! Despite the weird naming, the devs seem to have gotten their stuff together and put real soul into this one. Luckily, I didn't have to mess around in lines, thank you pre orders!
- Of course, I could not bear the wait much longer, so I immediately popped it in my handheld console, hoping to get through character creation by the time I got home.
- It was too late to look up at the truck barreling towards me, a brief reminder of why you shouldn't walk around with your nose in a screen...
- Surprisingly, that was painless.
- And now I am falling. You know, I don't do too well with heights, but this doesn't feel so bad. It's like getting a full body massage ... which for some reason I now can't feel my toes. Oh well, just keep calm and carry on, whatever is happening to me I suppose. Closing my eyes, I embrace a surge of power over my body.
- Who knows how long I was asleep for, but I think I finally woke up to some wind blowing on my ... back? It doesn't exactly feel like that, more like, fins? Opening my eyes, I awaken to see another stare back.
- "Aaaaeeeeeeeiiiiiiii!"
- "Ah! You're finally awake I see! It's not everyday you run across such a rare sight in these lands! I was afraid to find a colorful corpse!"
- "W-w-who are y-you?"
- "Me? Just a humble survivor in these desolate lands who luckily found another!"
- "W-what?"
- Taking a look around, I see what they mean. The sky is dark and stagnant. The trees around us seem pretty much frozen. A stream next to us looks to be flowing, yet no sound can be heard nor water splashing is felt. Wait, were they breathing down my neck just a second ago?!
- "You see now? The world is dead. Nothing but a few like us can move about. But you, your special. I think you have to the power to restore life to this world, even if its just a bit."
- "O-ok, so what can I do?"
- "What can you do? What can you do?! Ha! I think what you can do is even more than you realize!"
- "That doesn't really answer my question."
- I don't even get my question off before they run off. It also doesn't help its so dark I can barely make them out.
- "Follow me! I know of a great place to make a village!"
- "Alright! Coming!"
- Slowly, I levitate off the ground...
- Wait a minute this doesn't seem right. I can levitate? Where are my legs?
- Looking behind me, with more ease that I would've thought, answers that, and opens so many more questions.
- "What the-!"
- "Oh? Are you having trouble?"
- "Umm, sorta? But I don't think you can help..."
- With the fact I've turned into a Latias!
- Alright man, just try and stay cool. Should I play it off as I'm a natural, or should I just come clean? Ugh, there are goods and bads to both. Hmm.
- Wait. A truck hit me as I was distracted playing a video game. I barely have a social life. I mostly stay in my cave and play video games. And I've got a blank personality!
- Has isekaitus finally gotten me?!
- Alright, just gotta stay cool! Totally disregard the fact that mystery mon over there is watching you descend into a panic attack! Just remember that PSA!
- Alright, prevention is beyond my means at this point, so it's best to find which type it is! A? No, it's pokemon dumbutt. B? I'm not seeing anybody else, but I can't deny the game was grimdark at first glance. C? Possible.
- D? Grimdark world? Check. Delusions of grandeur? Not yet. Genre awareness? Check check. General lack of physical ability? I'll have to say yes. Asshole? I don't think I am.
- Ugh, of course I get the strain known to kill!
- Alright, now that that's out of the way, what are the rules of this world? Well, no gods showed up but I think I have a good enough idea with mystery mon helping. Looks like I'm solo, but better try to remember Lord of the Bees or whatever should it become relevant.
- So is there a tavern nearby? No idiot, it's freaking doomsday out here. Still might meet a pokemon equivalent demon lord. Dangit. Well, at least I should develop cool powers, right? Right.
- Ahh, enough dilly dallying. I guess last thing to remember is don't fuck with wizards.
- "Sorry for that, mind showing me where the village spot you had in mind is now?"
- "Of course! Follow me."
- ==================================================================================================================
- So over the course of many seasons, a village was raised.
- We started with the location, an abandoned town that Hyginus (finally learned his name!) remembered fondly. There was fertile soil nearby with a little stream, not too far from the sea.
- The buildings in the town looked pretty run down, but I guess that's what happens when near wild animal run around without care, and nobody takes care of them.
- Looks like there's still some old technology left, but neither Hyginus nor I know how to fix, or even operate some of them. What is interesting is that this town suggests this was once like a traditional pokemon town, with quite a few humans would've been living here. The town even has a tavern. I'm sure that would've been useful another time.
- Ah well, no use worrying about what can't be done. I pick one of the nicer homes, still even has a bed, and make it my own.
- At first it was just me and Hyginus. Then other pokemon slowly trickled in. Some found us, some were found by us, and a few literally dropped down on us!
- Luckily for us, one of the first ones we found was a Torterra who knew who to grow berries! That saved our food supply more times than I could count!
- And then the merchants Milton and Mismagius moved in. They're a funny couple with how they bicker over prices, but at least they both knew good places to find equipment and started fixing up a little of the technology. Milton even got his lights to turn on!
- Finally, it was the guilds that were setup last. Legs and Shield are pretty eccentric characters, but I can't complain with how they keep the other explorers safe! Who knew that a gang of gastlys were going to ambush Galahad and Otto?
- Oh yeah, better explain my power as well.
- I don't know exactly what happened, but it seems that me settling down has brought a little light back to this world. Literally!
- The village and a bit of the surrounding area has the sun shining on it again! The wind blows, the water flows, the grass is green, and everyone seems so much happier!
- The people here have even started regarding me as a deity! I don't know how that came about, but if that's what makes them happy, more power to them I suppose. I do wish they weren't as nosey as they are though. It would also help if Crest stopped posting weird theories about me, but at least the others don't take him seriously, especially not the part where I can transformed into a human. That would totally be sill, ha ha!
- Unfortunately, making a little slice of heaven in this hell attracts quite a bit of attention.
- Bad apples come to us, either looking to kick us out and take the spot for themselves, or sometimes even try to kidnap me!
- Well, at least the explorers are good about kicking them out.
- Things were going pretty well for the time being, at least until the explorers found a part of a cryptic message in a ruin:
- "And with the duo of eon, the way will be revealed."
- And why does it seem like it's talking about me?!
