- INT. CONNACHT HOUSE. EVENING.
- A poor winter home. MORRIGHAN is laid on a straw floor. Her wounds are bound in linen, save for open portions where a WOMAN empties a small jar of maggots. MORRIGHAN snaps back into the waking world but the WOMAN holds her down.
- WOMAN
- Don’t struggle! You’ll crush the maggots. They need to do their purpose.
- MORRIGHAN starts breathing heavily.
- MORRIGHAN
- Where is he?
- The WOMAN looks at MORRIGHAN, almost happy.
- WOMAN
- I saw him too. Looked like one of the Gods themselves plucked you out of the woods and brought you here. He even spoke, told me you’d live through the night.
- MORRIGHAN slows her breath and goes a little limp on the floor.
- MORRIGHAN
- Most kind of him.
- WOMAN
- And you were screaming awful fierce! We sent some young men out into the woods to try and kill whatever beast must’ve mauled you.
- The WOMAN waits for MORRIGHAN to say something, but MORRIGHAN remains silent. The WOMAN takes a few steps away.
- MORRIGHAN
- Do you know who I am?
- WOMAN
- No stranger, was rather hoping you’d tell me.
- MORRIGHAN
- ...Have you ever heard of Cichol of the Fomor?
- The woman looks at MORRIGHAN skeptically.
- WOMAN
- I think my great uncle used to tell stories about him. Killed some awful things, was a big hero or something yeah? One of the good ones?
- MORRIGHAN looks up at the ceiling, the winds outside howl.
- MORRIGHAN
- So it would seem.
- (End of Ch 10)
- (CH 11)INT. CONNACHT HOUSE. EVENING.
- Morrighan is sitting in front of a fire, clothed in her under armors, with a large cloth enveloping her the woman from the end of the last chapter sits down next to her, holding her hands out to warm herself. Morrighan is lost in thought, a pastime she finds herself engaging in more often since the beginning of this arc, and Reina decides to spark a conversation to get Morrighan out of her adrift gaze into the fire.
- REINA
- Winter’s been mighty harsh, hasn’t it? Been inside all day but you still look freezing!
- Morrighan turns and realizes she’s there for the first time, she readjusts herself in front of the fire.
- MORRIGHAN
- Aye, it’s really been something else. I’m managing. Thank you again so much for harboring me for the past few days, Reina, I’m ever so grateful.
- REINA
- Oh it’s no trouble at all. Gives me a chance to put my healing knowledge to good use. Nice having someone to talk to.
- Reina leans on Morrighan’s unhurt shoulder.
- REINA
- Do you mind?
- Morrighan shakes her head.
- MORRIGHAN
- In any case, your remedies have been working so far. I’ll have to go out and break in my body again though.
- Brynn, the young son of Reina, no older than seven walks into the room, holding and looking as if he’d been rolling around in mud for the past hour.
- MORRIGHAN
- Oh, hello again, you.
- REINA
- Brynn! What on earth did you do to your clothes? And you should be in bed, it’s awfully late.
