- I donated my eggs to a man I was dating in 2018. He offered me a large sum of money to do the egg donation, which I was hesitant about being an egg donor. He offered me a large chunk of the egg donation compensation weeks before the egg donation, but due to multiple reasons, I asked him to postpone payment. 3 months after the egg donation, he is under a federal investigation. His budget changes dramatically for the worse and our relationship is more difficult due to the stress of the investigation, but I hold onto the hope that things will get better.
- In January 2019, our surrogate becomes pregnant with what we assume is my egg. I keep putting off accepting the payment because I devised a plan of asking if I can be with the child after birth. If he lets me be with the child, I would severely decrease my egg donation compensation. He would frequently change his mind on if I would be with the child - First, he wasn't going to tell the children they were donor conceived, then saying I could help raise them, to saying I couldn't see the children until they're 18 years old. It was all over the map. Weeks before the baby's birth, I planned on bringing up the plan to him due to his constant changing mind. I schedule a meeting to tell him. 5 days before the meeting, I am told the child is not genetically mine after all and it was another egg donor of his I didn't know about. He forgot he put her embryo in the surrogate since he secretly had so many egg donors. I was shocked. I had no plan B. All I could do then was hope at the next meeting he would give me the promised egg donation compensation in full.
- Because I waited too long, he is now broke. His house has no furniture inside and he's selling everything. The chance of me being paid for the egg donation is slim to none. And the kicker? He's going to federal prison and this is only the tip of the iceberg for his legal issues.
- TL;DR: Postponed egg donation compensation and now the person who is supposed to pay me is too broke.
