Before the outset of this plan, Nagito gained access to basically every weapon a murderous sociopath could ask for, and used that to sneak multiple bombs, a bottle of poison that diluted in water, and a knife into his cabin. From there, he began to set up his plan. First, he took a fire grenade from a military base, along with a gas mask and gloves, back to his cabin, and filled the grenade with poison instead of fire extinguisher. He took the grenade back to where he found it, and put it with lots of other grenades. Then, after announcing that he had hid a bomb somewhere that could kill everyone on the island, he made his way to a warehouse, where he set up a way to have someone else light a fire in the room he was in. Then, he proceeded to hang a spear from a ceiling girder, directly above him, that would fall if he let go of a cord attached to it. He obfuscated what happened afterwards, but he was setting it up to have someone specific kill him: a traitor within the remaining students.

When all of the students arrived at where he was, the fire was set, which caused them to rush for and throw the fire grenades at the fire, where he was. This caused the poison to vaporize, which if it did not kill him, caused him to let go of the cord, causing the spear to plunge into his stomach. He had trusted his luck to have the traitor be the person to throw the fire grenade, which would result in their execution as per the rules of the killing game. That person did, and was executed for killing him.
