- Ableton and FL studio are among the most popular and considered standard for electronic and hip-hop music, with Ableton being more closely associated with experimental music and FL studio more with Hip-Hop.
- Pro Tools is considered the "industry standard" of the professional world, though this is increasingly subject to debate.
- Logic Pro X (Mac only) is the big brother of Garage Band.
- Renoise offers a different style of composition and is often favored by D&B producers.
