- Fox vs. Sheik (as Fox)
- •Your counter-picks are Final Destination and Pokémon Stadium
- o YS is a good option for more aggressive Foxes
- o FD and PS help to give Fox the upper hand in Bo3 sets
- •Sheiks tend to play defensively against Fox
- o They prod for openings via grabs and knockdowns
- o They space against approaches with reverse WDs into set-up jabs/grabs
- o Be wary of the options given to Sheik by her needle cancelling via platforms
- •Fox’s punish game typically starts from N-air and D-air approaches into follow-ups
- o Shine combos into U-air and U-smash finishers
- o U-throw doesn’t combo into U-air or U-smash at 0% (U-tilt can work with no DI)
- o When Sheik is sent airborne via U-air or U-smash, Fox’s best bet for approaching is from her front with a B-air
- o U-tilt also functions as an effective anti-air against Sheik
- •Against Sheik’s F-tilt, Fox can bait it out and punish it due to his speed and mobility
- o You can also run up and shield in anticipation of the move, buffer your shield DI towards the Sheik and punish OoS
- o Similarly, you can draw out dash attacks in Sheik’s neutral game, as well
- o Fox can CC a Sheik’s wall of F-tilts and punish with D-tilt/U-smash
- •Ideally, you would rather not get stuck in shield against a Sheik
- o Sheik’s innate flow of moves against shield can be difficult to break
- o Against U-smash on hard shield, Fox can WD into a shine or grab
- o Spot-dodging can clear a Sheik for a D-smash\
- o Overall, learn your opponent’s style of pressure
- •Against a shielding Sheik, aim for aerials placed low and deep into the opponent’s shield to mitigate getting grabbed OoS
- o Be mindful of crossing up the shield with D-air due to the fickle L-cancel timing
- o Grabs out of shine are particularly useful against a shielding Sheik
- •Survival DI against Sheik’s F-air is generally upwards
- o However, this is not advisable at higher percentages
- o At higher percentages, DI downwards and attempt to tech on the stage
- •Focus play at the center of the stage, as Fox cannot afford to take risks at the ledge
- o Don’t not be afraid to revert to defensive laser zoning
- o Play it safe against opponents that Shino stall on the ledge
