- ####Criminal3x vs Ridtom:
- ###Ridtom 1:
- * John is a gestalt of soldier ghosts and has all of their accumulated skills. Is immortal and fully willing to blow himself up to win.
- * John repeatedly revives from lethal headshots. Resists psychic emotional attacks.
- * Makes no noise when he walks, can't be traced by supernatural senses.
- * Owen can summon John at any time using his dogtag.
- * John can use his powers to find Owen a weapon.
- This says John always "knows the direction to walk" to find a gun in his environment, but you'd still need to show there's a gun on Pier 39.
- * John can improvise traps.
- Will he have time to? Also some of these pastebin links are much longer than they need to be to showcase the feat, which detracts from the argument when I can't find what's being argued.
- * John will use his war senses to detect the opponents.
- I'm not sure how to read these quotes. One talks about his back prickling with hostility, but that could be supernatural or metaphorical. The other one is much much too long and I can't seem to find the relevant portion despite scanning it a few times.
- * John can tell the moment Yuta lets his guard down that'll be optimal to strike.
- * John can track rapid teleporters and hear people from outside the building they're in.
- * John can channel his dog tags to stagger a monster that's unslowed dragging hundreds of inch thick steel cables restraining it through buildings until they snap. Normally heavy cal bullets "don't destroy the flesh the way they should."
- ###Crim 1:
- * Concedes stealth and senses to John.
- * Yuta & Rika are extremely strong for the tier.
- * Yuta can withstand Sukuna's dismantle attack and huge cratering impacts and instantly heal fatal wounds and a bunch of stuff.
- * John isn't particularly superhuman.
- * Rika can safely store the VIP in a bubble.
- * Yuta can use Cursed Speech to order the VIP out of cover to their deaths.
- All of this is really really pushing it. I'd assumed going in that you'd be more conservative arguing this character which is why I hadn't brought it up until now, but all of this together feels like Baymax is going to greatly struggle to do…. I mean anything in the tiersetter fight.
- ###Ridtom 2:
- * Rika can't put the VIP in a bubble without breaking the BFR rules.
- I'd have to see if the bubble was like, a pocket dimension, or more like just a magical sack. The spirit of the no BFR rule is that bodyguards shouldn't just be able to send their VIPs somewhere else forever where opponents can't touch them. If Kuga Yuma is in the bag but can still be injured through it, that's okay by me.
- * Questions about the magic bubble---can Rika use it as stipped? Can people breathe in there? Do they need to be KO'd to go in?
- * John's senses means he always has the initiative given he can choose to attack when opponent is least prepared.
- * Restating how unstoppable the Wolf is. John makes it stagger twice where hundreds of steel cables dragging through shitloads of concrete couldn't.
- If we take this at face value that John's channeled bullets have much much greater stopping power than anything Rika or Yuta take. I can think of one or two lines of questioning to possibly undermine it but we'll see.
- * Yuta's self-healing is limited to superficial wounds.
- * John will repeatedly get back up from any death, be summoned to Owen's position w/ the dog tag, play possum to catch opponents off guard.
- * Cursed Speech is imperfect, John won't understand Yuta's commands, John is resistant to mental attacks anyway, and he can just rupture his own ear drums to avoid it.
- ###Crim 2:
- * Rika's bag is just a bag.
- * The bullets puncture the Wolf's flesh and break his bones, he's not resistant to piercing, just high regen.
- * Walking through the steel cables isn't relevant to his ability to resist bullets.
- I think it implies a level of juggernaut esque unstoppability where making him stagger is impressive.
- * Yuta wouldn't drop his guard at any point so that a bullet could pierce his cursed energy shield.
- * Yuta resists blades that cut through buildings. Rika is bulletproof to tanks.
- * Rika's megaphone lets Cursed Speech reach anywhere on the map. Covering your ears doesn't work. Owen will be effected no matter what.
- * Rika makes craters with grip alone. Hugely manhandles John.
- * John and Rika can just split up and have one hunt VIP while the other fighhts John.
- ###Ridtom Conclusion:
- * The bag appears in Rika's hand meaning she had it stashed in a pocket dimension.
- Could she just choose not to stash it and have it out the whole time?
- * Restating how good the Wolf feat is.
- * Wolf being penetrated by the bullets doesn't matter since it's a puppet for a higher power?
- I think the problem is we need a method of determining how resistant to "sharp" things the Wolf is in order to gauge how well the bullets could pierce Yuta's piercing resistant cursed energy infused flesh. I kind of believe the stopping power component of it where the bullet has supernatural momentum behind it,to act as essentially a very strong ranged "punch," but as for its ability to pierce Yuta, we can't really judge it well off Wolf alone.
- * Yuta / Rika never actually get hit by tank shells, and bleed from the Dismantle hits.
- * Neither Owen nor John will understand Yuta's Japanese commands.
- * The pier is too big for even a megaphone to cover.
- ###Conclusion:
- This is a formality, since conferring with other GMs we've decided that for the health of the tourney, Yuta needs to be removed by OOT, but I'd like to give some feedback anyway.
- Starsight; this was a really uphill battle and I think you met the challenge valiantly. I appreciated the creativity in even your unsuccessful arguments putting up layers of wincon between trying to lean on the pocket dimension rules, the language barrier and self-deafening arguments against Cursed Speech, and the ability of John to play possum and surprise Yuta using his war sense to determine when he was off-guard.
- My major advice for you going forward would be to consider your arguments from the perspectives of judges. It be more convenient to have these huge pastebins with all the batch feats in them, but for judges having to cover multiple rounds at once, it's a good way for them to get confused to miss the actually important details in the one or two sentences that matter. Consider trimming the sections of text you link to narrow in on the particular relevant feat that you're highlighting rather than dumping whole extended fight scenes at once.
- A second piece of advice I have is more specific; I also think it might benefit you going forward to consider that while John's bullets may have high stopping power off of staggering the Wolf, stopping power and penetrative force are different qualities. The latter is hard to gauge off of just that interaction with the Wolf, since they do in fact enter his skin and break his bones like normal bullets would against an ordinary person---even if he heals off the damage too quickly for it to matter. Consider the classic survivability onion; a completely bulletproof character like Superman falls in the "don't be penetrated" layer while someone with a healing factor like Deadpool or the Wolf sits at the core at "don't be killed."
