  1. Note: This is possible for any language, but for speedrun purposes and simplicity I have written this guide with Japanese in mind, if you want to set your Splatoon to a different language outside your region, contact me on Twitter (@aceticke) or Discord (@aceticke#0001)!

  3. DISCLAIMER: As far as I know this is online-safe, so you shouldn't be banned, however, this may vary from person to person, so know the risks before you go online with this activated.

  12. !! This guide is intended for people who have a hacked Wii U already, if you do not please follow this guide: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/ (Do not use video guides as they can harm your console!) !!
  13.
  14. !! If you do not have SDCafiine already please install it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/sdcafiine.471360/ !!
  15.
  16. At the installing mods step, do the following -
  17.
  18. 1. Copy your Splatoon title ID, it will be one of these two depending on your region:
  19.
  20. 0005000010176A00 - Europe
  21. 0005000010176900 - America
  22.
  23. (Wii Us from Asia will have Japanese as an option in their System Settings already)
  24.
  25. 2. On the root of your SD card (without being in a folder ex. "D:/") make the following folders:
  26.
  27. Name one of them "sdcafiine" and then inside that, name one "[TITLEID]", and inside that, create one called "Splatoon JP Patch".
  28.
  29. Replace [TITLEID] with one of the options above, ex. for Europe create a folder called "0005000010176A00".
  30.
  31. You can name the last folder whatever you like but for simplicity naming it Splatoon JP Patch makes it easier to remember what it is later.
  32.
  33. 3. Download the files from the Splatoon Speedrunning Discord, inside #splatoon-1 in a pinned message. Extract them into the "Splatoon JP Patch" folder, you should have a folder called "content" and inside that two folders called "Font" and "Message".
  34.
  35. 4. Rename the font file inside the Font folder depending on your region, replace BmpFont_JP with one of the following:
  36.
  37. Europe - BmpFont_EU
  38. Americas - BmpFont_US
  39.
  40. e.g. BmpFont_EU.szs
  41.
  42. Rename the message files inside the Message folder depending on your region and current Wii U's language, replace CommonMsg_JPja, LayoutMsg_JPja, and Revision_JPja with one of the following:
  43.
  44. European Languages -
  45.
  46. English (UK) - CommonMsg_EUen, LayoutMsg_EUen, Revision_EUen
  47. Spanish (Spain) - CommonMsg_EUes, LayoutMsg_EUes, Revision_EUes
  48. French (France) - CommonMsg_EUfr, LayoutMsg_EUfr, Revision_EUfr
  49. German - CommonMsg_EUde, LayoutMsg_EUde, Revision_EUde
  50. Italian - CommonMsg_EUit, LayoutMsg_EUit, Revision_EUit
  51.
  52. American Languages :-
  53. English (US) - CommonMsg_USen, LayoutMsg_USen, Revision_USen
  54. Spanish (Mexico) - CommonMsg_USes, LayoutMsg_USes, Revision_USes
  55. French (Canada) - CommonMsg_USfr, LayoutMsg_USfr, Revision_USfr
  56.
  57. e.g. CommonMsg_EUen.szs, LayoutMsg_EUen.szs, Revision_EUen.txt
  58.
  59. 5. Put your SD back into your Wii U and if you set your Tiramisu up to autoboot, then open Mii Maker to access Homebrew Launcher and open SDCafiine. It should boot you back into the Home Menu like nothing happened, this is intended.
  60.
  61. 6. Boot up Splatoon and if all went well, it should now be in Japanese.
  62.
  63. !! Don't open the manual and try to Resume the game, it will freeze your Wii U. !!
