  1. The following was inspired by this anon's NDE http://imgur.com/XayyaKI and was written for NTT.
  2.
  3. ______________
  4.
  5. >You are an old man.
  6. >Your life is still miserable, but you're used to it.
  7. >You've done what you can so that you can die at peace with yourself. Fate could take you any day, and when you die, you'll go freely at peace with your conscience and with what you've given to the world.
  8. >One day, alone in your apartment, as you hobble to the fridge, you feel a painful tightness in your chest. This is it.
  9. >You try to hobble to your bed to lie down, but your heart begins to palpitate madly, and the tightness becomes crushing. You clasp your hands over your heart in pain as you collapse to the floor.
  10. >Your heart beats its last and everything goes black.
  11.
  12. >You are sitting against a tree.
  13. >You feel the grass beneath you. You feel the air in your nostrils. You see the colors of the world like you haven't seen since you were a child, vivid and bright and real.
  14. >You feel as if a veil has been lifted from your mind. You feel at peace like you've never known.
  15. >You inhale deeply and smile and breathe, swathed in this feeling of joyful peace.
  16.
  17. >You watch a pink pony with a smile approach you. A passing warm breeze slightly ripples her fur.
  18. >She sits beside you. She is real, more real than anything in life.
  19. >"Welcome to heaven, Nonny," she says. "I'm an angel, but the other ponies don't know that."
  20. >You're actually here. You made it. You begin to cry and weep with joy as she looks on compassionately.
  21. >Tears of joy still on your face, you look up to her and ask,
  22. "Why was the world of my life so miserable?"
  23. >"It wasn't unhappy for everyone," she replies, "and that world was someone's heaven. Every world is someone's heaven, and then each person from someone else's heaven, God willing, goes to a heaven of their own."
  24. >Taking this in, you finally ask,
  25. "Is Twilight here?"
  26. >"Twilight is as real in this world as you were in yours. Maybe it's even her heaven too. I just know you'll make her the happiest mare in the world."
  27. >After a joyful silence, you wonder and ask,
  28. "Will I grow old here?"
  29. >"You'll grow old with her and be joyful all your life. Then you'll join the choir of God after death and sing with the angels and all of creation to God's glory forever. You'll be so overwhelmed with joy and gratitude at the heaven you'll have here that you'll just want to sing and it'll be the most beautiful music you've ever heard as you and she and all of creation sing to the glory of God, and you'll just want to sing forever and ever and you'll sing forever and ever and it'll be the most beautiful music you've ever heard forever and ever."
  30. >You begin to cry. This is too good to be true. But it is true, glory be to God.
  31. >"Now go find her," she says. "Twilight doesn't know it yet, but she's waiting for you."
