  1. Summers in Royal Woods are always brutal. Since the town is located within 20 miles of the Great Lakes, it meant more humidity then you would see compared to the rest of Michigan.
  2.
  3. Due to constantly being in use, the air conditioning at the Loud House had started leaking, meaning it was barely cooling the house at all. As usual, the Loud children would gather in front of the refrigerator and cool while they waited for their father to finish fixing the air conditioning, since they're still banned from every swimming pool in the Detroit area.
  4.
  5. Usually hot days like these were a blessing for Lincoln, as it gave him an excuse to be only in his underwear and socks without having to hear his sisters nag him about being "gross". However, it was one of the hottest days in decades, and even almost completely naked isn't keeping himself cool. Suddenly, Lincoln remembered the A/C was still on, but barely any cool air was coming out of the vents.
  6.
  7. "I know, I'll just stay in the vents until Dad fixes the A/C!"
  8.
  9. The 11 year old made his way into the vents, where he defiantly felt a huge drop in temperature compared to the rest of the house. Lincoln considered himself lucky, he was still at the age and height where he could still fit inside the vents. The only other people who could fit up in the vents where all his little sisters, pets and Lynn, but she doesn't go up in them as far as he knew.
  10.
  11. He was just about to open up his latest issue of Ace Savvy when he heard sobbing from further in the vents. Knowing all his sisters were in the kitchen, he came to the conclusion it was Lucy. Lincoln made his way further into the vents to make sure his suspicions were correct. They were when he turned the corner and found his 8 year old sister sobbing her unseen eyes onto her legs.
  12.
  13. "Lucy, are you okay?"
  14.
  15. The emo child lifted her head up to find her big brother laying right next to her.
  16.
  17. "O-oh hi Lincoln." *sobs* "no, I'm not okay."
  18.
  19. Lincoln grabbed Lucy and pulled her in a hug.
  20.
  21. "Come on Luc, your big brother is here. Now tell me what's wrong?"
  22.
  23. Lucy felt at peace being in her brothers arms, enough to help her relax and tell him what has been troubling her all day.
  24.
  25. *sniffle* "Well while I was here working on my poems about my dark soul, I had a super realistic vision that 4 idiots summoned the ancient lake troll Mustakrakish. He began terrorizing the town and killed you all before making his way for Downtown." *sobbing* "The way he killed you all was too much for me to handle, so I've been sitting here traumatized for a while now."
  26.
  27. Lincoln couldn't believe any of this he was hearing. "Damn it she's watching Metalocalypse again, Mom and Dad are going to be pissed if they find out." He pulled his sister even closer and began stroking her hair.
  28.
  29. "Its okay Lucy, you likely had a bad hallucination from the heat, I'm here now, everything's okay now."
  30.
  31. Lucy knew that Lincoln wouldn't stand a chance against a 200 foot tall ancient lake troll from Finland bent on world destruction, but his loving affection was enough to calm her down and make her feel save and warm to forget about that.
  32.
  33. "How's about I read you a little bit of Ace Savvy and then we head downstairs for lunch?"
  34.
  35. "I-I would like that."
  36.
  37. She really didn't want to, she hated Ace Savvy, but she didn't want the comfyness and affection she was receiving to stop. She wrapped herself around Lincoln as he began reading the first few pages of his comic. Lucy gave him a small kiss on the cheek, catching him off guard.
  38.
  39. "Thank you Lincoln, you really are a good brother."
  40.
  41. Lincoln was blushing at what just happened, but continued on reading to avoid making things awkward. Lucy felt she might've just made Lincoln feel uncomfortable due to his sudden reaction, but she paid no attention and snuggled her head into his chest as he continued reading on.
