  1. How To Do Fire Red and Leaf Green RNG Stationary Abuse
  2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. Things You Need:
  4. VBA-RR (I used v23.6 svn480)
  5. FireRed or LeafGreen (duh)
  6. The Appropriate Lua Script
  7. RNG Reporter (Latest Version)
  8. PkHex, PokeGen or some other Gen 3 Save Editor (Just to check SID)
  9. Patience
  10. Recomended:
  11. RNG Experience (This is not a good first RNG, I HIGHLY recommend that you try Ruby Sapphire Live Battery and/or Dead Battery
  12. Emerald
  13. Cheat Codes (Walk Thru Walls, 100% Catch, Turn Skip, Movement Codes, etc)
  14. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  15. Things to Know Going Forward
  16. FRLG RNG is unlike the other forms of RNG. It has a RANDOM Initial Seed and as such, you have to keep Soft Resetting (Ctrl + R) to
  17. get a favorable initial seed, preferably close to your target. Different Methods are used for different Pokemon. Method H-x is for
  18. Wild Pokemon and Method 1 is for Stationary Pokemon.
  19. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20. Quick Note:
  21. The Roamers in Generation 3 (ALL OF THEM) are locked to have disgustingly low IVS and are generally not worth RNGing. You can get
  22. them in other games, where they get better balls (#balltism), better IVS and where its generally more enjoying to RNG. (All 5 are
  23. available in Generation 4 HGSS.)
  24. - Raikou (HGSS > FRLG)
  25. - Entei (HGSS > FRLG)
  26. - Suicune (HGSS > FRLG)
  27. - Latias (HGSS > RSE)
  28. - Latios (HGSS > RSE)
  29. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  30. Why Would I Do FRLG RNG? So Many 'Mons can be Found and RNG'd Elsewhere!
  31. For the most part, that is true. VERY few reasons can be found to justify FRLG RNG. (At least in my opinion) However, Gen 3 is the
  32. last Generation as of when this as written to have Soft-Boiled, Mimic, Seismic Toss, Counter and select others as tutor moves.
  33. Also, FRLG RNG can be used to differentiate your Pokemon from others, as most people don't have say.... Mimic on their Shiny
  34. Zapdos.
  35. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36. The Basic Steps of FRLG Stationary Abuse
  37. The basic steps of FRLG RNG are: Find a spread you like (And abuse the TID/SID), Soft Reset for a favorable initial seed, plug that
  38. init. seed into the RNG Reporter, calibrate, and advance frames. Sounds simple? Well. It is. This RNG is more tedious than hard to
  39. be honest. However, save states are recommended, as are cheat codes.
  40. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  41. Some Notable Spreads
  42. Spreads are a pain to find in Generation 3 and 4. Not every spread is possible, so be wary when trading G3/G4 'mons.
  43. Adamant: 31/31/31/7/31/31
  44. Timid: 31/7/31/31/31/31
  45. Bold: 31/14/31/31/31/31 or 31/10/30/31/31/31 for HP Ice
  46. Calm: 31/0/31/31/31/31
  47. Jolly: 31/31/31/0/31/31
  48. Careful: 31/31/31/7/31/31
  49. Impish: 31/31/31/7/31/31
  50. Hasty: 31/31/30/31/31/30
  51. Naive: 30/31/31/31/31/31 or 31/30/30/31/31/31 for HP Ice/If you value 1 HP
  52. Modest: 31/2/31/31/31/31
  53. Naughty: 31/31/31/31/27/31
  54. Quiet: 31/1/31/31/31/0
  55. Rash: 31/2/31/30/31/31
  56. Relaxed: 31/31/31/7/31/0
  57. Sassy: 31/31/31/2/31/0
  58. Lonely: 31/30/31/31/31/30
  59. One thing to know is that there are many more acceptable spreads, and many spreads usually involve a 7. (In my experience)
  60. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  61. The Process of RNGing FRLG (Finally)
  62. 1. Boot up RNG Reporter and VBA-RR
  63. - Enter your TID and SID
  64. - In VBA, open the Lua Script and get your initial seed.
  65. 2. Plug the initial seed into the RNG Reporter
  66. - Check to see how far away your spread is. I usually SR if it is more than 5 million frames away.
  67. - Once you have found the initial seed, pause just in case.
  68. - If the seed is good, move on to the next step and make a save state. Otherwise, keep SRing.
  69. - Once you have a good initial seed, you have just done the part that FRLG is most notorious for! Grats!
  70. 3. Time to calibrate!
  71. - If you haven't done so already, make a save state
  72. - To calibrate, make sure you are 1 button push away from the encounter!
  73. - Do Ctrl + P and write the frame you are on down.
  74. - Once you have, enter the battle
  75. - Copy the IVS, and find out what frame you hit
  76. - Subtract. Frame You Hit - Starting Frame
  77. 4. Reload your save state!
  78. 5. Time to start advancing frames!
  79. - Make sure you are 1 button push away from the encounter/when the IVS are locked. I have found that once you see Zapdos'
  80. dialogue, the IVS are locked.
  81. 6. Catch the Pokemon.
  82. - I use a Turn Skip cheat for Leaf Green because that is all I found. There may be a Turn Skip cheat for Fire Red, but I have
  83. not searched yet.
  84. 7. Teach your RNG'd 'mon cool Gen 3 tutors like Mimic and Mud-Slap!
