- Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) is an uptight FBI agent and has her eye on a promotion. She has closed more case than anybody else in the FBI, but the thing is none of her co-workers like her because she knows pretty much everything. She is sent to Boston to uncover the identity of a ruthless drug lord (Michael McDonald) and is paired up with a foul-mouthed Boston Cop (McCarthy), but they don't get along at all!

- The Heat is a really fun summer movie. A great movie to watch if you are looking for a good laugh. There really is not anything bad that I have to say about this movie it was fun had action good characters and it was also really funny. Thats not to say that I absolutely loved this movie though.<br/><br/>The actors in The Heat all work very well together they have great on screen chemistry. The story though fairly simple was pretty well done. We've all seen buddy cop films before and you realize watching this movie that you have seen this kind of thing before. For me though that did not make me like this movie any less. The people in the packed theater I was in were laughing from beginning to end. I really don't think this movie deserves the 6.7/10 rating it has it was very entertaining and very fun to watch. But I would say that if you know you do not like the actors in this movie then it is probably not for you.<br/><br/>I give The Heat an 8/10
- While I might give the film itself a seven, I am giving it an 8 here to help balance out these other reviews. When I clicked on user reviews, I expected to see a ton of great reviews, but saw 1 and 2 stars saying this movie was positively awful. I have to say, I am SHOCKED that those reviews exist.<br/><br/>First of all, have you SEEN any movie rated below a 5 on IMDb? Those are worthy of these complaining reviews. This movie is one that is absolutely not. <br/><br/>Melissa McCarthy's character was probably the funniest individual character I have seen in a movie in at least the last few years. I mean, I almost spit out my coke I laughed so hard sometimes. She is crude, but her insults and jokes are so fast and clever that you find yourself constantly laughing at the banter between her and anyone else. <br/><br/>I guess this is where people are divided. She is fat, loud, obnoxious, curses a lot, and can be gross. If you expect a PG safe and calm movie, why are you seeing this? If you saw Bridesmaids and liked her in that, you will enjoy her in this. If you have ever seen VEEP on HBO, where they drop witty insults constantly that have you falling off your chair, you will LOVE this movie. <br/><br/>If you are easily insulted, or can't stop complaining about cursing in a movie, you don't deserve to watch this film. I saw This Is The End, which was raved about, and it made me laugh probably one third of the times that this movie did. The type of humor in that movie is super gross out, and usually pretty immature, but The Heat humor ran along the lines of "WOW how did they think of these incredibly creative lines?" and they just kept coming and coming....When I watch something like Pineapple Express, I expect a few clever scenes every now and then to keep the movie afloat, but in The Heat, Melissa McCarthy just carried the whole thing on her shoulders. Everyone else does a fine job, but replace Melissa McCarthy with ANYONE else, and this movie would be very mediocre.<br/><br/>If you are looking for a hilarious film that is clever, witty, and occasionally a little gross, check this out. It is in my top 10 comedies at this point, and I love a good comedy!
- Every foul-mouthed joke [McCarthy] cracks, every unexpected physical gag she underplays, is so funny you forget how often we’ve seen this setup. Or, when it comes to women, how rarely.
- The US Blu-ray features two versions of the film. Next to the R-rated theatrical version, we have an unrated cut that doesn't offer a substantially better film. If you liked the theatrical version, you might enjoy some of the plot extension that the longer cut introduces since they add a little humor but they are not necessary to alter the film's overall impression. In total the Unrated Version runs approx. three minutes longer than the Theatrical Version. a5c7b9f00b
