- "ugh..."
- He looked around, finding it odd that he was in someone's home. Luke should have been in the hospital given how badly he fell. Yet here he was in a quaint and quiet country home from the sound. Everything ached and felt odd. His feet felt like they were permanently asleep and his chest felt heavy. Luke got up from the couch he was on and walked around. Luke stopped for what felt like an eternity, but was really five minutes. His attention was caught by a shiny surface where he got his new reflection. A scared yelp left his lips as Luke stood frozen.
- "I'M A GIRL! HOLY CRAP!...and well, umm naked by the looks of it. Lovely."
- A stereo chirp sounded, and a white tiger head topped by bright-pink hair leaned out to look. Luke's new ears swiveled when he heard the chirps, which caused him to blink then scream. He backs himself against a couch, shaking and tensing up.
- "TIGERS! HOLY SHIT! TIGERS! HELP! I HAVE TO GO TELL EVERYONE..."
- "Wha... you okay?
- He was breathing heavy. Luke was in a new place, and if the technology was any indication a new time His body was now female and covered in fur. His breathing was reaching the point of anxiety attack
- "Why..why would I..waitaminute..you can talk?"
- "Of course I can talk. A good chunk of the population does! Are you okay?
- "Why would I be okay? I fell from...somewhere and tigers can talk..how is that okay?"
- "Ooooh boy..." a matching voice says "Terry, it's worse than I thought."
- He blinks again, still shocked at seeing a talking tiger and now he was seeing a turtle. "Woa, Testudo is real too? Come on..take off the costumes!"
- "At risk of blowing your mind..."
- The tiger comes fully out... a two headed, three breasted tiger/skunk combo, 12 feet tall. He looked her over and at first was freaked out as evidenced by the look in his eyes. But then as he kept staring, which was quite rude but at the moment he didn't care, it turned to clear attraction.
- "oh..umm..umm...I...umm..."
- The door leading out opened up to a four-armed tigerdragon, carrying a medic kit... and said "Sandra, dear, I've heard of jaw dropping good looks but this is getting смешной."
- Luke staggered back a bit, shocked. "I'm...I'm" He heard the Russian accent, distracted and then looks up.
- "whoa momma...very nice....woah..I'm bisexual now apparently. And female apparently, and a...fellow tigerr?"
- The turtle appears and said "Oh, Doctor Markov! Yeah, can you check this fuzzball out? Sandra here found her collapsed on the front stoop."
- "Fuzzball?" He looked down. "oh..right..and yeah, umm..did anyone let my date know I'm late? and uh..not male or human anymore..? I was supposed to meet here on Sunday."
- Sandra spared a head for her and Dr. Markov to look at each other, a bit confused. Shi said “A date? Here?”
- "wait..okay, peeps. What year is this anyway?" He--she, luke decided they'd have to get used to that--looked around. Everything looked so different yet so similar. It was very odd for her to get used to. "Can I have a mirror first? Please? I need to see myself. And no, not here...where is here? We were meeting at Point State Park in Pittsburgh.”
- “Ooooh goy…” Sandra said. “Mikey, you better check if she’s okay. Terry, I think I’m liable for this.”
- “Not the first time this has happened and I had to help out, Sandra,” the turtle said. “Let me get some gloves.”
- Luke, still nervous as the multiarmed tigerdragon performed a clinical examination, watched as the what he thought was a conjoined twin left the room. The turtle checked what remained of the personal effects Luke had on him. The tiger came back with a full length mirror.
- “Радость моя, you are far from Pittsburgh. This is College Park, Maryland.”
- The newly minted female could only nod in shock. She was a far way from home, though not far enough that she couldn’t hop on a train. She nodded and sighed. It wouldn’t be that bad, she could stay here till she regained some self of herself and get the money.
- The two-headed tiger purred with one head “Before we go too much farther, I better introduce ourselves. I’m Sandra Felis. Don’t worry about which head is me, it doesn’t matter. The doctor over there is Captain Mikail Markov of the Canmephian Medical Corps. The terrapin looking at what you came with is Terry Pinn, a lawyer.” Sandra then asked with the other “You mentioned a date? Do you even know what day it is?”
- “Well, sure. It’s the third of April two thousand sixteen.”
- The others stood in shock, Terry looking over her personal items nearly dropped them. All that was left was a crispy wallet that contained a hundred dollars, a singed ID, and some melted plastic, probably a credit card or two.
- Sandra sit back into a seat and rolled hir eyes. "I knew I shouldn't of fired up that new engine on the Valkarie without more testing..." The other two tried not to snort and chuckle, as the new woman on the block choked back a scream
- "So what you're saying," the tigress said after taking a drink of her water to the tiger..skunk..woman? "is that you're the reason I'm like this?" The woman motioned to her body, the fat breasts sitting on her chest and the nicely shaped toosh. All of it on a muscular frame. "I was human..do they even exist here? I was a male! And becoming a doctor. Now I look like I belong on the cover of a Miss Universe magazine talking to a two headed alien with a chest that looks like it belongs in Total Recall!" The venom there was unintentional but it was clear the former human was angry and demanding answers. She stared at the person in front of her, trying to decide if she was friend or enem
- Shi then continued "Yes, there's humans here still. The fuzzballs and such came out of the woodwork about a century ago. The world is just getting over the fact that they're here... and that there's actual aliens as well too.
- "I don't know about the resulting chaos, if any, but this is 2516.” Sandra dropped hir heads, putting hir hands on the back of hir head. "FUCK" shi said in stereo.
- Luke’s jaw drops and her eyes are so bugged out that they look like they're about to fall out of her head. The former human tried to mentally do the math. "MOTHER..." That caused a shiver to go down her spine. "I'm about to be five hundred thirty three years old...give or take. I mean my birthday’s not till October and it’s only April. So, five hundred thirty two and a half years. Wow..not bad looking. I’m taking this a little well, I think, but what can ya do. Sometimes you have to roll with the punches.”
- Hir ears drooping, hir other head speaks up. "You can blame me for bring you here and in this state. I think my experimental transwarp engine really messed with two realities."
- “I see. Well, I...don't think I want to go back." She stated cautiously at first. "I mean yeah, I was going to be a writer, pretty famous too, but I can do that here too. I had mountains of debt, my family hated me and I really had no friends. So there's no rush." At this point, her stomach growled loudly, causing her to blush and laugh. "So...umm....let's say I believe all this stuff that's straight out of a science fiction novel. Am I new person? Did I like swap minds with someone? or is this who I would have been in this reality or something?"
- "That's other questions I need help with. I--Terry--will get you those answers.”
- This time the turtle looked up and blinked. He walked over as he grabbed a chair and turned it around to examine the girl. She covered up a little, subconsciously, as she wasn’t wearing any clothes.
- “What was your name? As a male I mean.”
- “Luke.”
- The turtle gave a look, “Full name, hon. I have a rather long memory."
- She gulps, "Lukas Daniel Gaither.”
- Terry thinks a minute... "Pittsburgh area, right?"
- She nods. "Born in Jeannette and raised in Greensburg, Vandergrift and Hempfield." She sighs. "I was in foster care. My parents were abusive."
- "I think I remember that case from my earlier years. A former student came and asked about filing a missing person's report up there. Had to tell him to do it in person. Took him that summer to get it done. It's been on the back burner ever since."
- She tilts her head. "So..uh...hmm...no, in my reality." her sweet voice still held a note of disbelief, "I lived with my disabled mother and stepdad. Though, they were less than enthusiastic about it. Some of that may have been my brother though.”
- “Yeah, they were no help to the police. And your brother died from a heroin overdose.”
- "I’m not surprised. In other words, my life is as sucky here as it was there. Fantastic." She sighed, slumped over in defeat as she did her best not to sound angry
- Terry shakes his head. "Nope, you're getting a reboot. I'll push the paperwork. Got your old ID?
- She shakes her head no then stopped and nodded “Yes, you were looking at it on the table. Well, what’s left of it.”
- Sandra points to the desk. "The clothes were tattered but you still had your wallet and some cash.”
- Terry went back over and looked through them, carefully picking them up and inspecting them. “How much in money was here?” He asked, not bothered to look up from what he was doing.
- “You’re my lawyer now, I’m assuming. Either way, just a couple of hundred. I wasn’t rich.”
- "You might be now. But yes, I’m your lawyer and I own part of the house you're in now. Sandra's mate RedWolf owns the other half. Where is shi, by the way Sandra?"
- Sandra came back with a glass of pop for Luke and handed it to her.
- "Shi?" She tilts her head. "umm.." She gulps. "I'm guessing you're not..uh.." She rubbed the back of her head, trying to put the words together. "completely woman. ohgodnooffensedonthateme!"
- "Oh dear," Sandra purrs, "Don't be afraid. No, I'm genetically a herm, so I got both, and with the different anatomy both are fully operational. There's a few other oddities I have, but it’s probably best not to answer all of them now.”
- The girl nodded at the herm, not quite sure she herself was ready for the answers anyway. She sat there, pop in hand, not sure what to do or say at this point. It was a lot to take in this early in the morning. Luke did feel incredibly comfortable around Sandra and the rest even for this short period of time.
- Terry pulls out a rather intact ID. "Heh, this is rather a few years old at the most. Let me see..."
- "Wait, it’s intact? ewww...please don’t look at the picture! And a few? From what Sandy told me, it's five hundred something years old in this timeline.”
- "The cash is actually worth more than face value. I think you're a bit of a billionaire now if you just jumped in time. The Smithsonian would pay a premium for 21st century cash. Besides, a court order can adjust that age back down. Not the first time it’s been done."
- “Oh, Sandra, Terry tells me I'm probably a billionaire. So..I guess things are looking up!" She laughs. "Okay, seriously though am I a healthy five hundred year old, Doc?"
- Mikail purrs "Nah, you're a time-displaced 33 year old who's going to be disappointed in what happened over the past 500 years. But other than that, and some discomfort over the food as your body readjusts, you'll be fine."
- She blinks. "That bad? and almost thirty-three. my birthday wasn't until October. Any chance the future can de-age m...what discomfort?"
- “Well, heavy meat diet, plus all sodas are sugar based instead of HFCS based." He says as Mikhail put all of his medical equipment away. It seems that part of the day was finished, so Luke sat back and tried to relax given everything.
- She raises an eyebrow. "hey yinz guys..er..gir...what the hell pronouns do I use!?"
- Mikail purred. Luke was surprised when he did that and sat straight up. "If you want to match your body, she/her/hers. You're genetically all female."
- “I meant for Sandra here."
- Terry checks the rest of the wallet, while Sandra says "Shi/hir/hirs. Takes some time to practice. It took me some, but that's a long story."
- She just huffs. "okay, so what important things should I know?"
- Terry said "I'll need that time to get her set up and back into society with a bit of a traveler's fund. I have a few ideas."
- Sandra purrrs "Guess I gotta teach a fur how to be female."
- “Well, and a fur Sandra. I was human, remember? I also need to be brought up to speed on five hundred years of history.” Luke said, in the kitchen since she worked out where it was. “Ah! Food! "Whatever you do, Terry, you do." She sighs. "So I'm basically persona non grata at the moment. A horse without a home or country."
- Terry grins "Oh no. You're still a US Citizen. I just gotta file the paperwork and make sure I can even file your taxes for 2016. I think the IRS will throw a fit, but they threw one for ages on other folk."
- Luke nodded and looked around, trying to figure out what room was what "Well, that's a relief. I don't want to go back to Pittsburgh, that's for sure. I love my city an'at, but too many bad memories. I think I’ll stay in this area. And here for now, if that’s okay? I almost forgot..who is this Redwolf? And will she or shi” The mare tried to make a difference in how it sounded, “mind if I stay here for a bit?”
- Sandra hands a photo of hir and RedWolf together. "My mate, and Admiral in the Canmephian Space Command, Ambassador to Earth. The way they do ambassadors is weird. And no, shi won’t.”
- "Earth? yeah, we're pretty stupid."
- "Nah, Earth is halfway sane in that regard. Canmephia sent just one for all of the planet, and they're slowly sending out 'Assistant Ambassadors'.”
- She nods. "I see. Well, I don't know then." She looks at the picture. "YOWZA! That's a lot of woman..."
- “A lot of herm, actually."
- Luke laughed, "I shoulda guessed."
- "Reddie's on vacation somewhere. Don't know where."
- Luke, nods. "Terry, when you get a chance also tell the museum about my money please. and take a share for yourself since I'll have to pay you somehow." She smiles. "And see if they want the ID too. well..what's left of it."
- Terry, who's on the phone, leans over to look at Luke and says "What? I'm on the phone with the curator now."
- "Nevermind then! He's fast for a turtle..."
- "TERRAPIN!"
- “SORRY, Testudo" The tiger gave a grumbled growl and huffed.
- Terry gave a small chortle and resumes the phone call. His hands are latex gloved, strangely enough.
- Sandra laughed as well, "Oh, you'll find out soon enough as far as history goes. I think you'll be up in room 2B."
- Luke huffs. "not fair. I need to know these things if I'm going to acclimate myself right? 2B? so second floor..."
- “Yep. I have all my old clothes there, which fit you strangely enough. This was before I grew into this, but as I said, it's another story."
- She raises an eyebrow. "it's a wonder I wasn't a feline with all of the curiosity you're putting into me."
- "There's a laptop up there too that you can use, but be careful. The Internet hasn't changed much."
- "Rule 34...got it..dang and i was hoping everything was holographic and screens projected onto the wall." Her ears lowered. "Thanks for the let down." She teases.
- Terry, who had just gotten off the phone walks back in, “Congratulations Luke. The Smithsonian will gladly take that money off your hands… although we’ll have to get your name changed as well. The ID I need to do that by court order. “
- Luke nodded. “Give me a couple of days, let me adjust to all of..this and I’ll get back to you. Not like it’ll be hard.”
- Luke walked up the stairs, then looked back down.
- “I guess ‘Welcome home’ wouldn’t be too inappropriate eh? I’ll adjust, don’t worry about me. I know as strange as this sounds I have good friends and good help.”
