DUFFY AND THE FRIEND SHIP (UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT)

DATFS is a Duffy and Friends stage show that is performed on the Disney Adventure cruise ship.

First instance of all Duffy and Friends (DnF) characters (up until 2026) speaking in English simultaneously.

NOTE - This was made by referencing various recordings of the stage show and might contain various inaccuracies and/or gaps, especially during songs.
Speaking roles (i.e. who said what) are estimated based on voice inflections and on stage character movements.

TUTTI denotes the set of all non-TIPPY characters currently visible on stage.
A / B denotes the set of things in A but not in B.
A + B denotes the set of things in both A and B.

Individual entities are considered singleton sets. So DUF + SHE is the same as {DUF, SHE}

On-screen displays will be denoted using the square brackets.

1. Hi. You're on a rock, floating in space.

[Curtain. The backdrop opens to pure sky.]

[The backdrop changes from pure sky to a grassy sea outlook with a lighthouse]

TIP: Well, hello there friends! Welcome to BEAUTIFUL Cape Cod! I just finished my mail delivery for the day, which means YOU'RE right on time! For what, you ask? Why, a story!

TIP- See, I'm not just a seagull, who carries the mail.
I'm a bird with a talent, for telling a tale!
And I've got a good one, of DUFFY AND FRIENDS!!!
So come settle in... it's the tale of the FRIEND SHIP!!! [Friend-ship is written on the backdrop]
You can help me begin...

TIP: Nothing sets the scene like the sound of the waves. Whoosh! Whoosh! ... [Whoosh! is written in water on the backdrop.] Come on!

TIP + AUD: Whoosh! Whoosh!

TIP: It all starts on a lovely summer day, at DUFFY's PLAYHOUSE.

[Lower center stage transforms into the LIVING ROOM of DUFFY's PLAYHOUSE. The roof floats down on top of it.]

2. Tidal Wave by Onilink and verified by Zoink

Enter DUFFY

DUFFY- There is blue, stretching as far as my eye can see.
What a view, all the waves make the water look wild and free!
As I stare at its beauty and wonder, I wonder so thoughtfully...
What does the ocean, what does the ocean...
What does the ocean... mean??? To me....

[The roof expands to show the second floor interior, taking up the entire upper stage level. There is an easel with a canvas.]

Enter GELATONI

GEL: Ta DUFFY!
DUF: Hi GELATONI!
GEL: What are you looking at?
DUF: I don't know. The ocean is SO BIG!
GEL: That's true!

[Scene changes into a pastel painting of a sunset over the ocean, replacing the entire playhouse interior. Meanwhile, a drawing of a sailboat appears on the canvas.]

GEL- When I paint the ocean, I never can decide...
Oh where, oh where, to pain the sea, the ocean is so wide!
And when I choose the colors, it's more than shades of blue...
The ocean's green and pink and grey, and... and sometimes purple too! [The ocean in the backdrop changes color accordingly]

[The scene reverts back to the interior]

DUF: I never thought of that!

TIP: Soon more friends came over to play.

Enter COOKIEANN

DUF: COOKIEANN!
COO: Hello!

TIP: DUFFY asked what they thought of the ocean out the window.

[Scene changes to a pastel drawing of a sky. Palm trees show up in the foreground.]

COO- I look at the ocean and breathe in the beauty...
It smells like the tropics--so fresh and so fruity!

DUF: Wow! The ocean makes you think of tropical fruits?
COO- Oh yeah!

[The scene changes back to interior. Upon the next verse, it changes to a felt/knitted scene of the ocean, with birds flying in the foreground.]

Enter 'OLU-MEL

DUF: 'OLU-MEL! ... How about you?

OLU- Watching the birds play tag with the tides...
I think it's a melody forming inside...!

[Back to the interior]

DUF: The ocean gives you ideas for music? That's amazing!
TUTTI- [Singing. The next few events occur while this happens]

Enter LINABELL

DUF: Well you all are inspired by the ocean.
And oh, that is plain to see...
But what does the ocean?
TUTTI/LIN- What does the ocean? What ... does the ocean ... mean (what does the ocean) ...
TUTTI/{LIN, DUF}- what does it mean?
DUF- ...to meee????
TUTTI/{LIN, DUF}- what does the ocean, what does the ocean, what does it mean ... to me????

[By this time the house's 2nd floor has already reverted back to the roof]

3. I can see a hat! I can see a cat! I can see a man with a baseball bat!

DUF: Hi LINABELL!
LIN: Hi!! What are you doing?
DUF: Everyone's sharing the wonderful ideas they have when they look at the ocean! Well... everyone but me.
LIN: Don't worry DUFFY, sometimes there's more to see!

[LINABELL takes out a spyglass, which the eyepiece appears on the backdrop, displaying her POV]

LIN: Oh! I see something! On the cove, in the distance! I wonder what it is...
DUF: Maybe it's something wonderful!
[The spyglass drops from the backdrop, reverting to the house roof]
COO: I have an idea! Maybe we should go I N V E S T I G A T E !
LIN: That sounds like fun.
COO: Yes!
OLU: Come on, leeettt'ssss... go!

TIP: And so, DUFFY AND FRIENDS left the PLAYHOUSE and went to the beach. Meanwhile, at the beach, SHELLIEMAE was making a seashell bracelet for a friend. She wondered who she should give the bracelet to...

Enter SHELLIEMAE

4. Diamond armor, Full Set!

[The scene is now a beach.]

TIP: But she didn't have to wonder for long...

Enter STELLALOU

SHE: STELLALOU!
STE: Hi SHELLIEMAE! What are you making?
SHE: A bracelet out of seashells. Just listen to the sound it makes!
STE: Beautiful!
SHE: Maybe you can add this sound to your dance!
STE: Great idea! Thank you!

(STELLALOU starts dancing)

SHE: Ahh... your dancing reminds me of the waves!
STE: Then dance with me!
(SHELLIEMAE and STELLALOU are now both dancing)

TIP: ...Makes you wanna dance along, doesn't it! Come along!

Enter (in this order) LIN, DUF, GEL, COO, and OLU. [Broadway-esque signage appears from the top, with neon flashing lights and labels reading each of the DnF's names and then "FRIEND SHIP" in big capital letters]

TUTTI- Da da da da da da ... (singing, humming, etc.)
TUTTI- (Giggling)

5. Welcome back, mah friends. Skrrt~

[Scene changes into ocean]

SHE: Hi everyone!
STE: What are you doing here?
DUF: We were at the playhouse, looking out at the ocean, when we spotted something m y s t e r i o u s . . . in this c o v e . . .
LIN: So we came here to investigate!
COO: Ah! There it is!
(From a cylindrical-looking object in the center, a tarp is pulled off, revealing the tip of a boat.)

TUTTI: (whispering)

TUTTI- What do you think it issssssss......?????
GEL- Do you think it's a plane? (TUTTI- Do you think it's a plane?)
STE- Do you think it can float? (TUTTI- Maybe it can float?)
OLU- Do you think it's a drum?
TUTTI- Ba-dum-bum, bum! Ba-dum-bum, bum! Ba-da-bum, ba-bum, ba-bum!

[Each time something is questioned a visual of that concept is drawn on the backdrop: A plane, a water wave with a question mark above it, and a drum]

SHE- Wait! I think it's ...
DUF- A boat!
TUTTI- A boat, a boat, a boat...

TUTTI- A boat!!! A boat!!!

(SHELLIEMAE comes out with a bucket of tools)

SHE: I have an idea! Maybe we can fix it up and decorate it, so that we can get on the boat and use our imaginations to go on an ocean adventure together!

<Again, some of the song lines might be inaccurate>

SHE- Everybody get in line, I've got roles here to assign...
GEL- I can make the boat's design...
OLU+LIN- We'll make it strong!
STE- I can check the face for damage...
COO- By combining all our talents...
TUTTI- We'll create our boat together, all the way...
Cause working together, always wins, the da-a-a-a-a-a-ay!
Cause working together always wins the day!

[DnF now begin working on the boat.]

DUF- We all have skills to spare... and great ideas to share!
So with hard work and care, we can repair what's broken too!
TUTTI- And dream of something new!!
DUF- It's amazing how togetherness comes true!

SHE: Great job everyone! It won't be long now before we're on our adventure!
TUTTI: (cheering)

<TODO - Most of the lines here are unintelligible>

GEL- I'll paint with care...
COO- I'll give us scrap <???>
STE- I'll mend this chair <TODO ???>...
LIN- I'll fill that gap!
OLU- To the rhythm that I'll tap...
TUTTI/OLU- We'll tap along...
TUTTI- Working quickly and so steady... <???>
Now our boat is almost ready!
Soon we'll board our boat together...

TUTTI: (All cheering)

TUTTI- With all our curiosity, and all our creativity, and all we dream our BOAT could be, the best of FRIENDS by land or sea!
We're on our way...
Cause working together always wins the day!!!

TIP: The boat was finished. Well ... almost finished.
STE: Wait, who's gonna steer the boat?
OLU: And how?
TIP: The answer came with a gust of wind.
DUF: Look! A ship's wheel!
LIN: That's just what we need to complete our boat.

[A ship's helm enters the backdrop and "blows" to the right]

GEL: Oh no! Where's the wheel going!
STE: Look! The wind's blowing it...
LIN: It's over there! I can still see it...
OLU: DUFFY can save it!

[The helm bounces behind the panel on the second floor which is made to look like the top bridge area of the ship. DUFFY emerges shortly afterwards with an actual ship's wheel in hand]

GEL: He got it!
COO: Great job!
TUTTI/DUF: (Cheering)
STE: Spectacular!
OLU: I knew it!
COO: Thank you DUFFY!
GEL: You know? You look very official at the ship's wheel.
LIN: Captain DUFFY, take us on a voyage!

TIP: But DUFFY was a bit ... hesitant...

DUF: I went on a lot of ocean voyages with Mickey, but he was the captain... I don't know quite what to do ... but I have stories to share!
TUTTI/DUF: Yes!!

6. Tell me a duck story. Bum bum bum, ba-dum ba-dum...

DUF: Once upon a time...

[The sail of the boat opens like pages of a book, showing various visuals. Meanwhile the backdrop gets more warm colored and darker.]

TIP- A story can take you to waters unknown, without ever leaving the shore.
OLU: Where did you sail DUFFY?
TIP- A story can sweep you right off of your feet, to places you've not been before!
DUF: We sailed all the way across the ocean.
TUTTI/DUF: Oooohh!!
TIP- A story transports you right from the start, if you open your mind and your heart!

(In the next line when DUF reaches a word in all caps all the others i.e. TUTTI/DUF sing that word)
DUF: There were BIRDS flying over our heads, a beautiful BREEZE, and the SUN shining so brightly

TUTTI- I hear the birds, I feel the breeze, I see the sun... It's like we're there too...
TIP- See, that's what a story can do...!

SHE: Then what happened DUFFY?
DUF: Well ... Then...
TIP- The boat rocked them gently, and they listened intently, to DUFFY's spectacular tale!
DUF- We sailed cross the sea, Captain Mickey and me...
TIP+DUF- Just blue skies and billowing sails!!

DUF: And one day, we made it all the way to the other side of the world!
TIP- As they imagined the waters below, the story enraptured them so!
Oh how they LAUGHED! Oh how they DREAMED! Oh how they SMILED!... (TUTTI- LAUGH! DREAM! SMILE!)
And how the time flew!...
As that's what a story ... can do!

TIP- With every
TIP+DUF- once upon a time
TIP- They wished the day could be longer...
And with every
TIP+DUF- Come hear this story of mine...
TIP- Their friendship grew stronger...
DUF- And stronger and stronger and stronger
(TUTTI harmonizes DUF in the preceding line)
TUTTI- ... and stronger!!!

TIP- But just like a story, the day has to end...
TUTTI- The sun is beginning to set...
LIN: I wish we could stay here forever...
TIP- But memories continue, and stories stay with you, in ways you'll never forget!

STE: Maybe tomorrow, we can do this again!
GEL: I love hearing your stories DUFFY!
DUF: ... really?
TUTTI/DUF: We do! Yeah!
DUF: Then tomorrow it is! You know what? I really had fun telling you about my adventures. Thank you all for listening...
TUTTI/DUF- We're thankful for yoooouuuu....
TIP- Yes, that's! ... what a story... can ... do.... (TUTTI- doo-ooo-ooo...)

7. Closing remarks

TIP: Thusly it was time to go home. For just before they left...
DUF: See you tomorrow, little boat!
OLU: Wait! We forgot to give our boat a n a m e...
COO: That's great! What could it be?
SHE: I have an idea!
TUTTI/{DUF, LIN}: (whispering) ... Great idea! Yeah! Let's do it!

TUTTI- With all our curiosity, and all our creativity, and all we dreamed our boat to be, the best of friends the <???> can see...

TIP+TUTTI- They named it the ... FRIEND --- SHIP !!!

DUF: We did it!
TUTTI: (cheering)
GEL: Awww... pretty as a picture!
OLU: That name is music to my ears.
DUF- Well, the time that we all spent together...
and making this memory... (TUTTI/DUF- (harmonizing))
DUF: The Friend Ship!

DUF- That's what the ocean, that's what the ocean...
TUTTI- That's ... what the ocean...
TUTTI- means... (TIP- That's what it means...)
TUTTI- TOOOO ... MEEEEEEEEE!!!!
