- A rusted-out hatch blocks the path. Kamran is starting to fade—his mind won’t make sense of what he’s seeing. The creatures chirp and scream in the distance. They’ll be finished with Noah soon enough and come after them.
- Marsalis bangs against the structure, forcing the spade of her tail into a crack to wedge it open. More flaking metal comes away with each hit, but Kamran can’t keep his eyes open. Mary is probably dead. Tiran might make it.
