  1. >This dream was different.
  2. >It wasn't a nightmare, that's for sure. It definitely wasn't bad.
  3. >But it wasn't a nice dream, either.
  4. >It just sort of was, neither harmful nor helpful to the pony that was dreaming it.
  5. >Luna had never found a dream like this before, in her thousands of years of dream-walking.
  6. >Obviously, she decided to see what it was about.
  7.
  8. >Her hooves touched down on an endless expanse of field.
  9. >The grass felt wrong, somehow. Almost like the dreamer didn't know what it was supposed to feel like under hoof.
  10. >"Hello?" she said.
  11. >Somepony screamed right in her ear.
  12. >Luna whirled around, and beheld an abomination.
  13. >It was giant, and deformed, but unmistakably equine in nature.
  14. >Its face was elongated, like it had been squeezed into a tube and never recovered.
  15. >The eyes were small and beady, giant nostrils heaved with every breath, and its coat was entirely the wrong shade of pink.
  16. >The equine thing screamed the word "NEIGH", spread over-muscled wings that had to be twelve feet wide, and took off into the air with a great WHUMP, WHUMP, WHUMP.
  17. >As it flew, its hooves dangled like dead leaves on a tree, entirely lacking in any sort of aerodynamic merit.
  18.
  19. >Then orange juice pours from the walls, rising higher and higher as Luna struggled to stay afloat.
  20. >She could feel the sticky liquid staining her coat.
  21. >As the juice threatens to overtake her head, she takes a deep breath and dives.
  22. >A school of turtles swims past. Starfish litter the sandy bottom.
  23. >Luna swims upward, and upward, and finds no surface.
  24. >Her breath gives out, she gasps for air…
  25. >And takes a deep, orange breath through her gills.
  26. >Relief floods her mind, and she begins to paddle along, looking for a way out.
  27.
  28. >Instead, she finds a bale of hay. Just dangling there underjuice, like it's the most normal thing in the world.
  29. >All this panicking has worked up quite an appetite, so she takes a bite.
  30. >And is yanked upwards! There's something in her mouth!
  31. >She breaches the waves, and sees Anon, huge and in an equally huge boat.
  32. >A moment passes, dangling there, in the air, on a hook, above a brook.
  33.
  34. "You are the weirdest fish I've ever seen."
  35.
  36. >He unhooks her and throws her back, into the orange juice.
  37. >But the waves are gone, and there's nothing but sky beneath her, and she falls.
  38. >She frantically waggles her fins and tail before she realizes she doesn't have wings anymore because she's a fish and she's out of water and she's falling and falling and falling–
  39. >CRASH
  40.
  41. >"Luna! Are you okay!"
  42. >She gasps for breath, with her lungs, and quickly checks to make sure she's got wings again.
  43. >She does.
  44. >"You were tossing and turning until you just fell off the bed. Did something happen?"
  45. >Luna looks upward, to see Celestia's concerned features staring down.
  46. >She grasps her sister's face with her hooves and pulled her closer, until their noses were almost touching.
  47. >"It didn't mean anything."
  48. >She looked very far away, Celestia realized. Like Luna was staring all the way through her skull and out the back, to the castle wall behind.
  49. >"It was a cascade of complete nonsense and it didn't mean anything."
  50. >"I don't–"
  51. >"Anon is a nut! He's crazy in the coconut!"
