- Darkest Dawn Review
- First of all, no, my soul is not crushed. You'll have to do better than that.
- Let's start with the prose. It's very uniform and generally solid. It doesn't get stale either. Your grammar has no particular flaws that I noticed. There's a few typos here and there, but I won't tell you where because A) it's a long story and going back through it isn't really feasible and B) you should proofread it yourself and find the mistakes and fix them, it helps you improve.
- So moving onto the more important bits, the characters are generic. The protagonist is an angry, naive, betrayed elf lady who is going to resist as much as she can but is straight-up out of her league and is destined to be broken. The villains are typical near-to-perfect predicted-everything sadistic masterminds. It's a classic smut scenario, but perhaps a bit dry.
- The main twist is by no means poorly executed, and there actually is foreshadowing and hints the reader can pick up on to figure out the twist before it happens. You get points for that. The plot itself isn't all that unique or different from a billion other fics about people getting taken captive by PEOPLE WORSE THAN HITLER - naive girl is captured and subjected to terribly sexy tortures and sees some terribly sexy shit until she eventually (presumably) breaks.
- The smut's good. Great even. My only concern is that the smut-to-plot ratio is a bit lopsided in favor of the smut. It's not quite the golden ratio that Henric and Alex has per chapter, to name an example of something I feel got it just right.
- My main gripes with this are that it's not actually a complete story (why'd you stop), and the characters feel more like a vehicle to create the smut scenarios you want than fully actualized characters.
- Overall, I'd give it a 3/5, on the higher end of threes.
