- *** ARCHIVES SECRET AGENT & 00 AGENT ***
- Q: Why are you still playing this? Didn't you already get 54?
- A: I got 54 on 00 Agent. I still need it on Secret Agent. This counts as a distinct, separate World Record. Each level has three distinct difficulties which are ranked individually. On a very few of Goldeneye's levels, the Secret Agent and 00 Agent objectives, and therefore levels, are very close to being the same, but you still need to get a time on both difficulties. Getting a time on a higher difficulty does not give it to you on a lower difficulty, (in fact, historically, Statue 00 Agent has often been 1 second faster than its Secret Agent counterpart due to higher likelihood of getting boosts.) Levels like this include Facility, Surface 1, Statue, Archives, Streets, Egypt, etc.
- If you go to the-elite.net world rankings ( http://rankings.the-elite.net/goldeneye ) you can see that on some of these levels, the WR times and WR holders are not always the same. Surface 1, Streets, Jungle and Statue are good examples of this phenomenon. It is not always easy to get "the same" WR on both Secret Agent and 00 Agent!
- Q: Is 53 possible?
- A: Yes, we believe it may be possible now. A new strategy has been developed and refined, which gives a shot at 53, and certainly makes 54 easier.
- On my 54 00 Agent ( http://www.twitch.tv/rwhitegoose/c/3391649 ) I was lucky to get a grenade. This happens roughly 1 in 50 runs. Until this run, we severely underestimated how much time being able to cut off the corner after the safe would save. To compare, this is Boss' Archives Secret Agent 0:54, a run using the "old strategy" of going around the box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdIdbYc56fo
- But on top of this, using the box to damage boost yourself forward is even faster. A boost saves roughly .2 to .35 depending on its quality. So blowing up the box as you pass through it is actually the fastest ending for Archives SA/00A.
- The box requires 5 damages to explode. There are 3 current methods which leave different amounts of damages on the box for the ending (the more damage left, the longer you need to spend damaging, the less time it saves.) To be clear, I will link all the 5 possible ending styles with the according time saved.
- "Old" Method (No Box Boost or Destruction) | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdIdbYc56fo | BASE TIME: +/-0.00 SECONDS
- "Old" Method (Grenade Destroys Box) | http://www.twitch.tv/rwhitegoose/c/3391649 | TIME SAVED 0.40 SECONDS
- "New" Method (5 Damage Left on Box) | http://www.twitch.tv/theelitegaming/c/3392700 | TIME SAVED 0.25 SECONDS
- "New" Method (4 Damage Left on Box) | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQRQDKe3i1A | TIME SAVED 0.35 SECONDS
- "New" Method (1 Damage Left on Box) | http://www.twitch.tv/flickerform/c/3394980 | TIME SAVED 0.50 SECONDS (REQUIRES GRENADE)
- Note that the 1 Damage method is very close to the TAS method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTafBzc5RcI#t=15m20s
- The advantage of the 5 Damage and 4 Damage methods is that no grenade is required. A grenade will save more time than these methods, but as I said before, it is a rare occurrence (roughly 1 in 50 runs.) On any run, you can now save a significant deal of time even without the grenade.
