  2. Breath of Fire II
  3.
  4. Platform: Snes
  5. Released (d.m.y):
  6. 02.12.1994 (Japan)
  7. 12.1995 (NA)
  8. 25.04.1996 (PAL)
  9.
  10. Based on: PAL-version (SNSP-AF2P-EUR)
  11.
  12.
  13.
  14. - The game does not show you your play time. Consider tracking it
  15. manually.
  16. - Check the BoF2 guide by Ben Siron for information on the mechanics
  17. of the game. Do note, however, that it's got numerous typos in the
  18. numbers. Over the years, corrections have been made and additional
  19. information has been uncovered by others, mainly Nitrodon.
  20. - The game's game over policy is the "golden parachute;" when you die,
  21. you lose half of the money you're carrying and end up at the last save
  22. point you used. If you can't return to that save point, you'll end up
  23. at some other location.
  24. - Inventory slots: 48 | Storage slots: 126
  25. - Stats
  26. Strength | Base ATP
  27. Stamina | Base DFP
  28. Agility | Base Vigor, chance to flee
  29. Wisdom | Magical damage and defense, debuff hit rate / resistance
  30. Luck | Chance to flee, Cond. changes
  31. Guts | Special abilities
  32. Cond. | Critical hit rate, Counterattack rate, Evade rate
  33.
  34. - Vigor = Agi - armor weight. Vigor determines acting order during battle.
  35. - The actual Guts value is not visible. Instead, the game shows flames,
  36. with each flame representing 32 points. Guts is the only stat that
  37. features some random variation in how it increases on leveling up.
  38. - The actual Condition value is not visible. Instead, the game shows a
  39. description (Poor / OK / Good / Super) that changes every 64 points.
  40. Condition increases (or possibly decreases) as you spend time on the
  41. field (with Luck playing a minor role as well).
  42. - Super Condition gives you a base critical hit rate of 37,5%, a
  43. counterattack rate of 50% and an evade rate of 18,75%.
  44. - A counterattack will be a critical hit if the character has landed a
  45. critical hit earlier that round.
  46. - Counterattacks ignore elemental variables.
  47. - Defending decreases damage by either 50%, 36%, 25%, or 19% and affects
  48. both physical and magical damage.
  49. - When a character dies, they have a small chance of being revived with
  50. 12,5% HP.
  51. - Depending on your formation, the game applies additional multipliers
  52. to damage dealt (Dmg a), damage received (Dmg b) and critical hit rate.
  53.

  69.
  70. - A few enemies are highly resistant to magic, but they'll still take
  71. normal damage from spells that are triggered by using items.
  72. - The Exp figure you see at the end of battle is the combined total
  73. amount of Exp all characters gained. Exp is not divided.
  74. - You can surprise the enemy, but the enemy can't surprise you.
  75. - There are three different encounter rates: low, medium and high, as
  76. indicated by the goblin in the menu.
  77. - The overworld consists of 256 (16x16) map sections. By default, each
  78. map section on the overworld has a medium encounter rate (K7 being the
  79. one exception), but it drops to low if Ryuu has reached a certain level.
  80. - Encounters have a fixed set of enemies, but a random variable often
  81. removes one enemy or more from the set.
  82. - Elemental resistance provided by equipment is often quite insignificant.
  83. - Spells can deal critical hits (1,5x damage).
  84. - Equipping two items that grant regen will not increase the effect.
  85. Regeneration will not occur when moving as a frog, rolling, surfing,
  86. flying or when in Huntsvil.
  87. - If you want to stack items without messing up your custom item
  88. arrangement, put them into storage.
  89.
  90. - Common healing items Uncommon healing items
  91. Herb s| 40 HP Roast s| 100% HP
  92. HelpBL s| 100 HP Extract | 100% HP

  97. TearDr s| Heal Rotting/Zombie
  98. CureAl s| Heal status s: stackable
  99.
  100. - Status ailments:
  101. Poison | -1 HP per step (nothing in battle).
  102. Sleep | Unable to act until hit with a physical.
  103. Rotting | Turn into a Zombie at the end of the next round.
  104. Zombie | Character attacks own party members.
  105. Curse | Cond 0
  106.
  107. - Enemies generally inflict ailments using either a single target or
  108. a multi-target attack. The single target one also deals damage, while
  109. the multi-target one does not. Both have what seems like a 50% success
  110. rate.
  111. - Many spells produce visual effects that you shouldn't look at.
  112. - The game gives you the option of turning the music off (one of the
  113. very few RPGs on the Snes that lets you do that). While I'm certainly
  114. very fond of the soundtrack, I do turn the music off during longer
  115. grinding sessions. The field music restarts after a battle, so you
  116. might want to turn it off because of that as well.

  165.
  166. - You can rest for free in your apartment on the second floor of the
  167. building near the front gate (not the inn).
  168. - You can't explore the northern part of the town at this time.
  169. - Some buildings are locked at night, and there are also fewer NPCs
  170. around at night. Aside from that, the day and night cycle only really
  171. has a cosmetic effect.
  172. - You can exit the menu instantly by pressing X.
  173. - Don't forget to save your game at the dragon god statue.
  174. - Use L and R to switch the lead character on the field.
  175.
  176. - Don't forget to make use of the handy Auto-Battle command.
  177. - Using L and R during battle gives you the Switch and Defend commands.
  178. - You should buy a Bronze Sword and a SteelAR (370 Z).
  179. - I recommend against updating Bow's equipment. He'll soon end up MIA
  180. and will stay that way for quite a long time.
  181. - Ryu's special skill, Guts, allows him to heal some of his HP.
  182. - Bow's default special skill, Shot, has him attempting an instant kill
  183. (success rate goes down for higher level enemies). His field ability is
  184. hunting.
  185. - Press Select on the overworld to view the world map. It employs map
  186. section-based fog.
  187. - The encounter rate in the HomeTown map section drops from high to low
  188. once Ryuu hits Lv5. The neighboring map sections (that have the same
  189. encounters) will still have a medium encounter rate at that point, and
  190. it doesn't drop until you hit Lv8.
  191. - After every battle on the overworld, there's a chance that a fishing
  192. spot or hunting spot will become available. Fishing spots have fixed
  193. locations, whereas hunting spots appear in a random tile. After getting
  194. a kill while hunting, pick up the item as quickly as possible or the
  195. item will degrade in quality or even disappear. When an animal is in
  196. a bush, it can't see you, but you can't damage it.
  197. - If you feel that accumulating money from fighting battles is too slow,
  198. you can sell fish and items obtained through hunting. Hunting in particular
  199. can be a significant source of income at the earlier stages of the game.
  200. A full batch of Roast will net you 1800 Z, although you should probably
  201. hoard up on it as well, seeing as it fully heals a single character's HP.
  202. - Don't bother traveling east across the bridge yet. Not only are the
  203. enemies tough, but there's nowhere to go, as there's a guy blocking
  204. your way north, and the Exp isn't much better than what you get in the
  205. mountain.

  208. Lost & Found: SteelAR (Corpse), Charm (S Goblin)

  210. - You can probably survive here at Lv3. Stay by the healing spring and
  211. level up to at least Lv5. Leveling up on the overworld will get you
  212. more money, though (assuming you're okay at hunting).
  213. - You'll stop getting encounters in the outside areas once you've fought
  214. 15 battles there.
  215. - You'll fight the boss after passing through the first cave area.
  216.
  217. [Boss]
  218. - 80 / 40 / 40 HP, 150 Exp, 27 Zenny in total

  228. - 100 HP, 64 Exp, 15 Z
  229. - There's a good chance it'll regenerate its health upon hitting 0 HP.

  232. - As I mentioned, Bow will soon leave the party and remain off the

  253. - Maniro A can be caught at the fishing spot outside of Coursair, but
  254. you really shouldn't use a Coin on that. You can't afford the stuff anyway.
  255. - If you donate to the church 20 times (2000 Z) either here or in
  256. HomeTown, you'll obtain the elusive, yet ultimately useless, key item
  257. EvansBib.

  266. - Lv7 is enough to survive here, but you need to stay near or at max HP
  267. at all times.
  268. - Make sure you hang on to that piece of Gold. We'll need it for fishing
  269. later. It's not even possible to sell it, so...

  280. - Go deposit all your money at the bank. Heal up and save while you're
  281. at it.
  282. - Check back with Rand at the pub. After that, you're free to enter
  283. the Coliseum.
  284. - After fighting Dir. HR (169 xp) and getting the key, head for the
  285. dress room, but do NOT open the chest (the one in the right room. The
  286. left one is a dummy, but feel free to try and get it). Ignore it for
  287. now and just try to open the door beside it to make Rand appear. Once
  288. he's taken all your money, it's okay to grab the chest.
  289.
  290. [Boss]
  291. - 220 HP, 200 Exp, 80 Z
  292. - After the battle, you're supposed to cover Katt, so she doesn't get
  293. hit by the needles (simply hold up on the d-pad). If you succeed, she'll
  294. join you right away. If you screw up, she'll join you after Augus.
  295. |
  296. [PC: Katt]
  297.
  298. - Get new gear (690 Z) and 2 levels for Katt. You can also get a BronzeHT
  299. for Rand.
  300. - Katt's default special skill, Dare, tries to force enemies to attack her.
  301. I've never gotten any use out of it. On the field, she can hunt and smash
  302. things with her staff.
  303. - You're going to need the money, so you should learn how to hunt properly
  304. with Katt. Don't approach the animals directly and time your attacks well.
  305. - Katt learns three powerful spells early in the game, but won't have
  306. enough AP to cast them for a long time (Hail (17) at Lv39, Fireball (20)
  307. at Lv61, Bolt-X (30) at Lv74).

  314. charge attack. With a little luck and prompt healing, you should be okay.
  315. |
  316. [PC: (Katt)]
  317.

  333. - There's a little puzzle here involving the name of the boss's nephew,
  334. but you can easily just ignore it. Getting it right allows you to skip
  335. one of the event battles.

  371. - Stay away from the well for now.
  372. - The Tokens / Tolens will have no use, so you don't really need to pick
  373. them up. No big deal if you do. They stack, so, at most, they'll take
  374. 2 slots of your storage.
  375. - You'll likely have to level up for a while before you can take out the
  376. next boss. Lv10 is enough, but I would recommend a little higher than that.
  377.
  378. [Boss]
  379. - 1300 HP, 300 Exp, 500 Z
  380. - Fire Breath: 30 pod to all. Quake: ~20 pod to all.
  381. - Brainwav will force one of your characters to attack your own party.
  382.
  383. - After the battle, Ray asks you to rescue the villagers in the well.
  384. There are 6 people in total and four of them have been attacked by
  385. facehuggers. You don't actually have to rescue any of them. Just talk
  386. to Ray and tell him you're done.
  387. - Whatever you do, do *not* save more than 4 villagers.
  388. - If you use a multitarget spell, the villager will get hit first and
  389. inevitably die, forcing the battle to end before the Chiroru is even
  390. hit by the spell. In any case, these battles are always worth 0 xp and
  391. Zenny.
  392. - Afterwards, Ray asks you to take him to your hideout (henceforth
  393. referred to as TownShip). Better not save your game in case you get
  394. the wrong spell.
  395.
  396. PC: Rand \\\ TownShip ||
  397. Special: Cure 2 / Renew
  398. - Ray will offer to teach one of your characters either Cure2 (0-4
  399. villagers saved) or Renew (5 or 6 villagers saved). I'd say it's a
  400. choice between Sten and Nina, so go with whoever you're planning on
  401. using more often.
  402. - Rand can now join the party again.
  403. - Rand's field ability allows you to move more quickly, although hitting
  404. something will force you into a random encounter.
  405. - Rand's special skill, Wake, has a chance of reviving a dead character
  406. with 1 HP. You can also use it to wake up a sleeping party member.
  407. - From now on, you can change party members at dragon statues.
  408.

  414. - After the Union experiment, head back to Capitan. Talk to the guy
  415. next to the inn to get warped back to TownShip, where Granny asks you
  416. to go and find a carpenter in Capitan.
  417. - The three new spells you received are quite powerful, but they will
  418. always drain all of Ryu's AP when used.
  419.
  420. \\\ Capitan ||
  421. - The carpenter you want is definitely the guy in the east-most
  422. building (the regular-looking house). Do *NOT* choose any other

  434. - Watch out for those Stone Idols. ColdBrth tends to hurt (~50 pod to
  435. all).
  436.
  437. - From now on, you're more likely to run into Beaks and Grizzlies while
  438. hunting. Coming into contact with them will initiate a battle (and thus
  439. end the hunting session). Beaks will actively pursue you, take 6 hits
  440. to kill, leave no items, and to top it all off, they respawn after 10
  441. seconds. They're not common yet at this point in the game, but eventually
  442. they will be. If you hit them at the bottom of the screen, you can
  443. basically take them out with a single hit (they'll move off-screen and,
  444. thus, despawn, but they'll still respawn).

  454. - You'll find Maniros in certain fishing spots. When you catch one, you
  455. can access their shop. The only bait that works is Gold. It takes 18
  456. seconds for Maniro to show up. Keep your lure close, and you should be
  457. able to catch him with little effort.
  458. - You can get a free Wise Robe at the Witch's Tower, so don't buy one.
  459. - You'll find a SokletAR in the cave behind the waterfall (available
  460. after the Witch's Tower). It's one point higher than the NationHT,

  502. - This is where I (somewhat briefly) get to use my usual party:
  503. Ryu, Katt, Jean, Sten.
  504. - Jean's field ability allows you move in inland waters and hop over
  505. small obstacles. At Level 14, he'll also learn the spell Warp, which
  506. *may* come in handy.
  507. - Jean's default special skill, Jab, is an attack that targets all
  508. enemies (low damage).
  509. - STAY AWAY FROM SIMAFORT! You'll lose Jean very quickly upon entering

  517. the Dragon spells have the indicated elements, but at the same time,
  518. the damage is simply unaffected by elemental resistance.)
  519.
  520. Special: Chopchop / mHP +16 \\\ WildCat ||
  521. Boss: Wildcat
  522. - We're now going to pick up a hidden technique called Chopchop from
  523. one of the friendly chefs at the Wild Cat Restaurant. The process is
  524. a little tricky, though, as you'll have to fight a difficult boss with
  525. a number of penalties (such as no items), and even if you survive, you
  526. might end up getting the HP boost instead. The HP boost is certainly
  527. worth considering as well, though (unless you're planning on using a
  528. party with Bow, Spar and Bleu). Using something like the Fire Ring as
  529. an item gives you essentially the same effect as Chopchop, and anyone can
  530. use it. The only cost is that it'll take up one slot in your inventory.
  531.
  532. - First off, you'll have to leave your items, no exceptions. Then, you'll
  533. be asked to take off your equipment (numbers 2 - 4) and replace them
  534. with items that have virtually no power whatsoever. This really isn't
  535. going to help you take out the boss, so this is where we're going to
  536. refuse to follow the instructions and fight our way through the Bouncer
  537. (I'm sure you can handle him). HOWEVER, you can only afford to do this
  538. twice, otherwise you'll get the HP boost. I suggest you skip numbers
  539. 3 and 4 (you don't even have to read the sign, you can just ignore it),
  540. so you'll only lose your accessories and headwear. If you want the HP
  541. boost instead, ignore the signs from 2-5.
  542. - The salt and pepper thing doesn't do anything.
  543. - Number 6 defines how much HP you'll lose before the boss. Go with Rare,
  544. and you'll only lose 25%. If you ignore the sign, you'll start the boss
  545. with only 1 HP.
  546.
  547. 1. Items (forced, includes accessories)
  548. 2. Hats
  549. 3. Jackets [armor] (napkins)
  550. 4. Weapons & shields (plate + fork)
  551. 5. Salt & pepper

  554. [Boss]
  555. - 610 HP, 700 Exp, 400 Z
  556. - With the new Dragon spells, you should be fine. Without them, your odds
  557. aren't great. Try hitting him with Pwr.Down and Def-Down in that case.
  558.
  559. - After the battle, go talk to the chef in the kitchen and choose the
  560. following dialog options:
  561. 7. Are you mad that I tried to turn you into steaks? ---> No
  562. 8. You are soft-hearted aren't you? ---> Yes
  563.
  564. - And that's it. I gave the skill to Katt.
  565. - The HP boost increases the max HP of all active party members by 16.
  566. It's not much, but it's something.
  567. - Talk to the bouncer on your way out to get your items back.

  575. - Keep in mind, you'll lose the bonding if the character's HP drops
  576. below 25% or if the character is Zombiefied. There are a few events
  577. that will cancel them as well (such as when you first visit SimaFort).
  578. - Nowhere in the camp menu does it specifically tell you what (if any)
  579. Soul Union a character has.
  580. - The DivideBL can be used infinitely to unbond from a Shaman. I don't
  581. pick it up myself, since I don't really need it.

  583. - Time to go get some tenants. Here's what I strongly recommend:

  701.
  702. - Head down to the kitchen storage to pick up Yua / Patty (and don't
  703. forget to loot the treasure room).
  704. - The Sol Blade is one of five weapons that can inflict instant death

  706. it does work on all non-event enemies (Death spell resistance is not a
  707. factor at all). It doesn't work, though, if the enemy is at a higher

  829. Sea of Trees) is a cape with a lone house at the end of it (Akky's
  830. house). This fishing spot appears a bit east from the house.
  831. - Really the only thing of interest here is the Holy Scarf, which is
  832. supposed to lower the encounter rate a little (when equipped on the
  833. lead character), but I'm not sure if I can really notice much of a
  834. difference.

  861. - Fire-elemental weapons make this a good place to grind until you can
  862. survive elsewhere. You might even get lucky and score a Shiny Bracelet

  870. overworld, but the Champion Sludge encounter seems more common. That,
  871. combined with the healing spring in the first cave, makes this a little
  872. better for grinding (unless you still have some hunting to do).
  873. - There's nothing particularly important here, so you could get the
  874. items later, when you're actually supposed to do the dungeon.

  879. Lost & Found: ThornWP / GlassDR (Titong \ 1), EarthAR / LoveBR (Cancer \ 1)

  881. - Once you get closer to Level 40, you should be able to survive in
  882. this neighborhood.
  883. - There are some nice drops here, but nothing you can't manage without.
  884. I always get at least one Love Bracelet at some point. Also, the Earth
  885. Armor is a good one for Sten. The GlassDR is a nice weapon for Katt,
  886. but it's easier to get in the Fog Valley.
  887. - I get one drop from the Cancers before HighFort. If it's a Love
  888. Bracelet, then I'm done here. If it's an Earth Armor, I'll come back
  889. after HighFort. Then, if I don't get the bracelet within a few drops,
  890. I'll just come back with Sweh.
  891.
  892. \\\ Thieves' Tomb ||
  893. Lost & Found: ElmoreSD / DemonDR (Sheef \ 1), HolySH (Anubus \ 1)
  894. - You'll find it easier to survive here than out in the desert, as
  895. the enemies are mostly undead, so you can easily do double damage
  896. with every character (the enemies also have less HP and DFP). You can
  897. survive even a little below Lv30, but I'd recommend closer to Lv35.
  898. You should also get Spar first, so Ryuu can have the Life Armor. It
  899. helps a lot. You'll still likely get some game overs, but it's not a
  900. big deal.
  901. - You're likely looking at enemies doing 50 pod per hit, double with
  902. criticals (less for Ryuu). You'll mostly be fighting Undead Thieves
  903. and Anubis Mummies. The former have a high critical hit rate, and the
  904. latter can cast Freeze (100 pod).
  905. - Although you can't actually explore the dungeon yet, there's a very
  906. good reason we're here, and that is the Demon Dagger, Sten's ultimate
  907. weapon. So, if you're using Sten, you might as well get it now. You
  908. won't even need Sweh, as Thieves are fairly common.
  909. - The ElmoreSD (usable by Ryu and Jean) is the strongest Holy-elemental
  910. weapon you can find at this point in the game.
  911. - And let's not forget the Holy Shield, the third strongest shield in
  912. the game, which can be used by everyone except Rand. It's the strongest
  913. shield for Nina, Bleu and Spar. You can buy these later in the game,
  914. but I suggest you get at least one of them now (for Katt).

  916. \\\ Giant's Island ||
  917. Lost & Found: Extract / Van.Ext (A.Sludge, Gonghead b),
  918. Charm / ShinyBR (Chorking \ 3), SacredSH / ArmyGL (K.Sludge \ 3)
  919. - Better deposit all your money into the bank before coming here. If
  920. you have too much trouble with the enemies, just come back a little
  921. later. Lv40 should be good.
  922. - Rounding up the world tour is the infamous Giant's Island (or whatever
  923. you want to call it), found by sailing south from Guntz. Let's have a
  924. look at the four enemies you can find here, and how to deal with them:
  925. 1. Chorking | 25 HP
  926. - Use Chopchop. If you don't have that, use a Fire Ring (you know,
  927. as an item). Bring some Antidotes to counter Poison Breath.
  928. - Your second source for Shiny Bracelets.
  929. 2. Gonghead | 1000 HP
  930. - Likes to use Cure 4 but only has enough AP to cast it twice.
  931. 3. A.Sludge | 900 HP
  932. - These guys have absolutely no resistance to Death (the other ones
  933. are immune)(might still fail at lower levels), so cast that if you
  934. can. When needed, you can also use the DemonSH to drain their AP.
  935. They're really not that hard to beat up either, and I always go with
  936. melee whenever Jean's refilling his AP.
  937. 4. K.Sludge | 1000 HP
  938. - The encounter has three of them by default, The encounter chance is
  939. probably 1/32.
  940. - They only have two moves: their normal attack and Death, which has
  941. a 100% hit rate (unless you're wearing a certain elusive accessory).
  942. The odds of Death being cast is low at first, but increase as their
  943. HP goes down. Get them below 500 HP with other attacks before you hit
  944. them with a Dragon spell.
  945. - The Sacred Shield is pretty much the best body armor in the game.
  946. Aside from boasting very high DFP, it also gives you a 25% chance of
  947. nullifying magical damage (the SilverHT and DreamBR have the same
  948. ability). It can be equipped by Ryu, Jean, Sten and Bow.
  949. - Using Sweh, you can typically get a Gummy Ou encounter in about 5
  950. minutes.
  951.
  952. - None of the enemies here have elemental affinities, so that's one
  953. thing you don't have to worry about.
  954. - Sell, drop, or use the Extracts, but whatever you do, don't start
  955. hoarding up on them, as Roast is so much more space-efficient.
  956. - Hoarding up on some Van.Ext, on the other hand, is a pretty good
  957. idea, especially if you don't have Bow or Rand in your standard party.
  958. In any case, don't let them fill up your inventory. If your inventory
  959. is full, enemies won't drop anything.
  960. - This is the place where you'll want to build up to Lv99 (assuming
  961. you're a bad enough dude to do so). You can get one level in about 20
  962. minutes. You should of course do it after getting all the rare drops
  963. you want. The SacredSH is indeed one of them, but I wouldn't bother
  964. trying to get those without Sweh.
  965.
  966. Fish: LoveBR \\\ Fishing Spot ||
  967. - This one's on Giant's Island.
  968. - Love Bracelet gives you regen, which can keep you healed up quite well.
  969. Until you get more of them, you can just pass along this one as needed.
  970.
  971. - As soon as you have the money, you should start cooking stat-boost
  972. items. If you're already at Lv50, you can go ahead and max out anything
  973. you want. If not, you should take the upcoming stat gains at least up
  974. until Lv50 into consideration (your stat gains are very minimal after
  975. Lv50). Hopefully, you've already decided on your final party.
  976. - No need to max everything out. Here's what I recommend:
  977. × Str: Max (255).
  978. × Stm: At least 200.
  979. × Agi: 250. Agility maxes out at 511, but few enemies have more than 200 Agi.
  980. × Luck: Max.
  981. × Wisdom: 207.
  982. × Guts: Pass.
  983.
  984. - Maxing your Agility not only has few benefits, but it also makes it
  985. a little harder to run away from enemies (except the super fast ones).
  986. This is likely due to a programming error.
  987. - In any case, start by depositing all your items, then fill your
  988. inventory with the stuff you can buy at Guntz depending on which stat
  989. boost items you want to create. See the recipes below.
  990. × Stamina's a little tricky, as the recipe involves Tuna, so if you
  991. didn't sign up Daiye, you're out of luck (and I *did* tell you to pick
  992. him up). Plus, you have to manage the quantities so as to ensure a
  993. smooth cooking process. I myself went with 39 F.Spice + 78 Tunas
  994. (8 × 9 + 6).
  995. - By no means do you need to get all of this done right now. If you can
  996. at least take care of your Strength (you'll need about 100k or so),
  997. that's good enough for now.
  998.
  999. Strength | PwrFood | 3× ShaveIce (300 Z)
  1000. Stamina | Stamina | F.Spice + 2× Tuna (700 Z)
  1001. Agility | Dinker | 2× Frizbee (200 Z)
  1002. Luck | LuckCndy | mix (eg. F.Spice + ShaveIce) (200 Z)
  1003. Wisdom | MisoSoup | 2× F.Spice (200 Z)
  1004. Guts | GutsBL | 2× ShaveIce (200 Z)

1067. Lv50, but you should probably try and get the fishing spot to appear
1068. once you're about Lv30. You can take out G.Idols with a dragon spell
1069. and you can probably just beat up Marble Golems. The Mamots have 736
1070. HP, so a dragon spell alone won't cut it. If there's only one, you
1071. should be able to finish it off. You can also use Death. If there's
1072. two of them, you might want to try and run away. You certainly want
1073. to run away from the Chimera. So, yeah, you need to get fairly lucky,
1074. but the armor is well worth it.
1075. - Also, if you haven't fished a treasure chest before, go practice with
1076. the one near TownShip. Any input when Ryu is pulling the chest up will
1077. be ignored, so you need to get a hang of the rhythm. If you fail too

1130. bottom of the eastern tower, but you can't get back to the item shop
1131. or storage since the bridge is out.
1132. - The next six items are found in Sten's solo section. After passing
1133. behind the throne room, there are three paths. The left and right ones
1134. have treasure. Next, there are two paths. The left one has treasure.
1135. - After being reunited with your three other characters, you can finally
1136. start encountering Soulflickers (common in the areas after the Portal).
1137. These guys drop the elusive Dream Bracelet, which gives you magic evade.
1138. There's one of these in the final dungeon, but aside from that, this
1139. is your only chance to actually get more of them. I get one myself (for
1140. Katt). Rand is the only character who can only get magic evade off a
1141. DreamBR. If you want him to get magic evade before the final dungeon,
1142. your only choice is to score one here. Then again, with his HP, he doesn't
1143. really need it as much as, say, Katt or Nina.
1144. - The SkullBR makes the wearer slightly more susceptible to Death.
1145. - Eventually, you'll find a room with three teleporters
1146. × The left one will take you back to the second healing spring (near
  1147. the MoonMask).
1148. × The right one is the emergency exit. Although you still can't leave
1149. the castle, you can use it to return to the save point or revisit Sten's

  1578. B C: 538 HP, 504 AP
  1579.

  1581. - A: Freeze (~100 pod) (10 AP)
  1582. - B: Flame (~50 pod \ all) (12 AP)
  1583. - C: Cure 3 (heal 120 HP \ all) (20 AP)
1584. - If low on AP, the eyes will drain AP from Ganer. This is considered
1585. Ganer's action, so the eye still gets to act that round.
1586. - The eyes may rarely defend.
1587. - The machine has an increasing probability to force Ganer to cast a
1588. spell on you. This can only happen when all four targets are alive.
1589. Whenever Ganer casts a spell, the eyes don't get to act. He can cast
  1590. Hail (~100), Fireball (~120) and Bolt-X (~180).
1591. - It's easy to hit Ganer unintentionally due to automatic target switching.
1592. If you accidentally kill him, there's no need to reset. Just get a game
1593. over instead (you can just attack your own characters if the eyes aren't
1594. doing it). You should kill one or two of the eyes before that, as this

  1603. AmberRG 11 000 Z ShinyHT 16 000 Z
  1604.
1605. - Baretta's last set of wares is quite impressive. The Shiny Helmet
1606. is the strongest headwear for Jean, Sten and Bow, the Kaiser Knuckle
1607. is Rand's ultimate weapon, and the Death Bow is Bow's ultimate weapon
  1608. (kind of).
1609. × I bought only one ShinyHT, and that was for Bow. Sten would get a
1610. free one soon, and Ryu and Jean would receive updates not long after
  1611. that as well.
  1612. × The BreakSD is Ryu's strongest non-elemental weapon, but there's
1613. really no need for it. Only Spirits resist Thunder, and you should
  1614. use a Holy-elemental weapon for those.
1615. × The Hero Armor is the strongest armor you can buy (usable by Ryu,
1616. Jean and Sten). If you've failed to procure any Sacred Shields, you
1617. may want to grab one of those.
  1618. - ShinyHT, KaiserKN, DeathBW = 64 000 Z.
1619. - If you saved Ganer and told Eichichi about the machine under your
1620. town, head into the well and your town will be able to fly. It's quite
1621. slow, though, and it's too big to land on the area where the Empire
1622. Sword is, but it's still something (especially since you lose the
1623. ability to call Mina soon).
  1624.
  1625. Shaman: (Seny) (Holy) \\\ Bando ||
1626. - Revisit Bando for Seny (if you missed her the first time around).
  1627.
  1628. Shaman: Solo (Earth) \\\ FarmTown ||
1629. - Pick up Solo at Daisy's backyard. Solo is the best shaman for Rand
1630. and Spar. The Sproutling form's Bud allows Spar to deal great damage
1631. (albeit uncontrollably and with a slight delay).
  1632.
1633. - WARNING: You will lose the ability to fly on the Great Bird once you
1634. trigger the next event at Gate! If you saved Ganer and got TownShip
1635. to fly, this isn't that big of a deal (assuming you got the EmpireSD).
1636. However, if you killed him, make *absolutely* sure you have nothing
1637. left to do in the areas that require the ability to fly. Here's a recap
  1638. just in case:
  1639. × Evrai island (CharmRod)
1640. × Fishing spot east of TownShip (EmpireSD)
  1641. × Island armory / N.Rider Island
  1642. × Maniro H

  1644. Shaman: Shin (Devil) \\\ Gate ||
  1645. Lost & Found: SilverHT / WisdomRB (Babaruku \ 5)
  1646. Boss: Babaruku / Habaruku
1647. - When you're ready, go talk to Father Hulk at the dragon.
1648. - Explore the little areas of the final dungeon available to you now
1649. to find the last remaining shaman, Shin.
1650. - At this point, you're supposed to go chasing after Patty (CotLnd,
1651. WildCat, ThvsTomd, TownShip), but it's not strictly necessary to talk
1652. to all the NPCs who give you clues on her whereabouts. Simply talking
1653. to the first one at CotLnd should be enough. After that, you'll find
1654. her on the second floor at Niro's place.
1655. - After locating Patty, return to Hulk, but make sure you save your
1656. game first. (Well, actually, the game lets you walk away and leave
1657. right before you fight Babaruku.)
  1658.
  1659. [Boss]
  1660. - 2500 HP, 3800 Exp, 5000 Z
1661. - He can cast the most powerful spells, including Bolt-X, but he tends
1662. to go for something harmless like Drain. Better bring some Van.Ext just
  1663. in case, though.
1664. - I recommend you get your second SilverHT here, as Habaruku has a
1665. decent enough chance of dropping one.
  1666.
1667. - After the battle, you're looking at a fairly important dialog option.
1668. If you choose 'Wait,' you'll get the bad ending. Might as well check
1669. it out. However, in order to receive closure...

  1691.
1692. - You probably can't get all the items in a single trip. I need 2 myself.
1693. - All the items up to the Final Knuckle are found in "upper" Infinity.
1694. - You'll have plenty of use for your Holy weapons, especially in upper
  1695. Infinity.
1696. - About halfway through, you'll reach Dologany. This is where you'll
1697. find the first save point (there are two more in lower Infinity). You
1698. can also rest and shop, but you don't have access to your storage.
1699. - Before you go learn Anfini in the shrine below Dologany, I suggest
1700. you pick up a Meow Staff. I do it in the area where you find the RiotST.
1701. - When you get Anfini, your soul unions will be undone.
1702. - If you use Exit in lower Infinity, you'll be taken to the save point
  1703. in Dologany.
1704. - There are two paths you can take in the final area. You should take
1705. the southern ladder first and get the two items on that path (Dragon
1706. Helm and Holy Shield), then return to B1 and take the northern path.
1707. - If you still need SilverHTs, you can encounter Magic Masters in pairs
1708. in most areas in lower Infinity.
1709. - Once you reach an area that's completely dark, you're about to encounter
1710. Barubary. Do not proceed without a good supply (~10) of Van.Ext (if you're
1711. not using Bow or Rand).

  1748. [Boss]
  1749. - 5000 HP, 4000 Exp, 5000 Z
1750. - At first you'll fight him with your full party. However, the battle
1751. ends after inflicting some damage. You then have the choice of fighting
1752. him with Ryu alone (not recommended).
  1753. - Bolt X: ~130-180. Fire Breath / Cold Breath: ~100.
1754. - Even his normal attack hits all your characters, so expect heavy
  1755. damage every turn.
  1756.
1757. - In the next area, you'll find the final save point. The final boss
1758. is just around the corner (straight north after using the teleporter).
1759. - The little rooms you can reach from the area with the King's Helmet
1760. are the only places in the game where you can encounter Pendragon and
1761. Zodiac (not in the same rooms, though). They have a low encounter rate
1762. and the items have low drop rates. I suggest you forget about them.
1763. - Return to the area where you fought Barubary with Katt and Sten in
1764. their basic forms. Look for a rock you can smash on the right side.
1765. After taking care of that, you'll have to cross a gap with Sten in
1766. order to reach the Life Bracelet.
