  1. puwexil's Thanksgiving 2024 Final Fantasy Legend Trilogy Charity Fundraiser FAQ - 12/1/24
  2.
  3. Q: Who are you?
  4. A: I'm puwexil, longtime speedrunner of classic JRPGs such as the Final Fantasy series & Chrono Trigger, and staff member for Games Done Quick and RPG Limit Break charity speedrun events.
  5. Full listing of all of my speedrun personal bests & live speedrun marathon performances: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jtfB8dFILLWeCrT_RVAhY0bBZKrjdtra_a_Q9F1EDK0/edit?gid=0#gid=0
  6.
  7. Q: What are you doing?
  8. A: I've been wanting to do a personal charity stream for quite a while, and decided to finally give it a try for Thanksgiving this year with a Final Fantasy Legend glitchless trilogy speedrun in support of Feeding America (http://www.feedingamerica.org). I've been speedrunning the 3 Final Fantasy Legend series pretty heavily this year, and since the speedrun routes for all 3 games involve getting stronger via eating meat, doing a trilogy run of all 3 games felt like a fun idea for a Thanksgiving-themed special event to support providing food for the less fortunate.
  9.
  10. Estimated schedule (in US Central Time/GMT-6):
  11. FFL1: 2:00PM-3:20PM
  12. FFL2: 3:20PM-5:20PM
  13. FFL3: 5:20PM-8:20PM
  14.
  15. I'll personally be donating $10 for each meat drop over the course of the trilogy run, and would love to see some similar pledges (like $1 per meat drop). For perspective, I'm expecting around 15-25 meat drops in total (depending on random factors).
  16.
  17. Donations of $10 or more are eligible to name one of the following characters used during the run (subject to my veto power, nothing crude please). Just let me know via Twitch chat after donating what your choice is:
  18. FFL1 (Character name limit: 4 letters):
  19. Hero Monster (Redbull>Woodman>Imp>Beholder)
  20. Monster 1 (Albatross>Oni)
  21. Monster 2 (Albatross>Slime>Jelly)
  22. Female Mutant

  24. Female Human 2
  25. Monster 3 (Chimera)
  26. Monster 4 (Stoneman>Pudding)

  41.
  42. Q: How do I donate? How do I know the donations are going to Feeding America? Are donations tax-deductible?
  43. A: Donations will be through Twitch's charity tool (which routes the donations to the charity without me needing to personally handle the money at all), so to donate click the Donate link on my Twitch channel (below the video player), or use the direct link https://www.twitch.tv/charity/puwexil. See https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/twitch-charity-faqs?language=en_US#viewer for Twitch's FAQ on their charity tool and how donations/tax receipts work.
  44.
  45. Q: What is the Final Fantasy Legend series? Why do you joke about these games not being "real" Final Fantasy games?
  46. A: The Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend II, and Final Fantasy Legend III were turn-based JRPGs released on the original Game Boy in 1989, 1990, and 1991 respectively. These games are actually the first 3 games in SquareSoft's SaGa series, and were renamed to Final Fantasy Legend for their Western releases in order to boost sales (Final Fantasy being Square's best known game in North America at the time). SaGa is a long-running RPG series that distinguishes itself with its quirky/unconventional progression systems for levelling up your battle party, and after the series' start on the Game Boy continued with games like Romancing SaGa, SaGa Frontier, and SaGa Emerald Beyond.
  47.
  48. Q: How are you playing/streaming these games?
  49. A: I'm playing on original Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 Game Boy cartridges, using a cartridge adapter called the Super Game Boy 2 to play them on my Super Nintendo console, capturing the audio/video output with a capture card in my PC, and streaming to Twitch with OBS Studio software.
  50.
  51. Q: Can I subscribe to your Twitch channel and/or support you personally?
  52. A: I work full-time in business IT and prefer to keep speedrunning/streaming purely as a hobby, so I don't accept Twitch channel subscriptions or other forms of personal donations/tips. Twitch does not allow me to completely opt out of Bits/Cheering, so I have the Cheering minimum set to 10,000 Bits (the highest possible setting) in order to discourage it.
  53.
  54. If you enjoy my content then just watch & have fun!
  55.
  56. Q: What's your favorite Final Fantasy?
  57. A: No
