  19. Traits:
  20. Lyke is a female griffon. Her feathers and fur are slate in color and her feathers ending with white tips, with soft purple eyes. Lyke is followed by the spirit of her husband. Her husband, formerly known as Culver, was deeply loved by Lyke. The two had been together for over thirty years, unfortunately unable to raise kids due to Lyke having a condition leaving her infertile. The two were scholars, their small cottage they owned could have even passed as a library. Both dabbled in magic, but neither were too talented.
  21. Unfortunately, one winter day during a particularly bad snowstorm, Culver was out, bringing firewood from a nearby town to the cottage, while Lyke stayed home. When Culver had not returned and night quickly approaching, Lyke pulled on a cloak and stepped outside, calling out for her lover. She had spent nearly hour outside in the bitter cold before first noticing the first sign of trouble: drops of crimson amidst the snow. Worried, Lyke followed what she assumed to be blood further and further, calls for her husband became shrieks, muffled heavily by the snow. She she finally came across her husband, is was far too late. His body laid mangled in the mouth of a wolf the size of a bull. This was no ordinary wolf, it's shaggy fur dark green and eyes a pure white. Seeing the horrified Lyke, it dropped the body of her husband, almost sneering as it backed away, disappearing into the snowstorm. Devastated, Lyke collapsed in the snow, falling limp clutching Culver's corpse.
  22. She awakened buried under a drift of snow, gasping as she burst forth from the white blanket. The snow had mostly subsided by now, flakes falling slowly now as she could see her cottage in the far distance. She began to notice she was shivering -almost convulsing- from her night spent in the night, her body undergone extreme hyperthermia. As she tried to master her body from the shaking, she once again noticed the body of her husband, now frozen stiff. She began to work, bringing the corpse slowly towards her house, her tears from the previous night still frozen to her feathered cheeks. After finally making it to the house, she left Culver outside, stumbling into the door and once again collapsing onto the ground, finally sheltered from the cold.
  23. When she woke an unknown time later, once again the dead of night. Her first thought was of Culver, but that quickly changed as she felt strong pains from her stomach. She quickly consumed the now very stale dinner that had been left there an untold time ago. After this lonely communion, Lyke brought her husband's remains inside the cabin, once again weeping as she had more time to view her husband's remains in more detail. It was a gruesome sight: he was covered in bite marks and scratches, his left foreleg showed bone, and his right wing was completely missing. There was no hope of resuscitation. In a fit of anger and false hope, Lyke poured through the tomes she and her husband kept, looking for a way to regain her lover. She took to dark arts, practicing from the Equine-omicon, until finally one night, she awakened something from the depths below.
  24. At first, it had looked like a spirit that looked griffon-esque in nature. Lyke immediately rejoiced, calling out her husband's name lovingly. When it turned to see Lyke, however, it let out a piercing wail, it's translucent feathers boiling into a tar-like substance, the creature clearly in pain. Lyke quickly listed off several incantations to help it, but it was too late: The creature no longer resembled anything except a translucent horror, constantly contorting in pain and unable to speak. Lyke was deeply saddened, but she still felt as if it was Culver. She took pity on it, and decided she would find some way to restore Culver back to his former self, and reap revenge on the creature who killed him.
  25. Now Lyke roams the world with the former Culver, constantly delving deeper into dark arts and the study of mythical creatures. She hardly ever sleeps, haunted by the wails of her husband in her dreams, as well as the vicious barking of his murderer, whom she now knows as Cù Sìth. While mentally changed, her physical state has changed much over her travels as well. The tips of her feathers have turned white, and her voice once high and friendly now raspy and depressed. She has become accustomed to the macabre and morbid, and has a hatred for dogs. While she will occasionally join parties of adventurers, her only true devotions are to Culver and seeking revenge.
