  1. >"P- Please."
  2. >You remain silent, leaning against your door
  3. >Just like the last ten times
  4. >"You're- You're all I have left, Anonymous."
  5. >She's even admitting it now
  6. >Chrysalis had fallen mightily from the first time you met her
  7. >Then, she was a queen
  8. >Ruler of the Changelings
  9. >A dangerous magical entity who was holding you captive
  10. >You could still remember the fear you felt in that cave
  11. >Although, in the face of the current circumstances, it was comical
  12. >Sighing, you open the door
  13. >You did this to her
  14. >Might as well help her cope
  15. >If Celestia knew about this, she'd probably exile you
  16. >Or try to, anyway
  17. >You didn't really care
  18. >Chrysalis timidly takes a step inside your apartment
  19. >"Th- Thank you Anonymous."
  20. >She looked like hell
  21. >Chitin scuffed
  22. >Hair a mess
  23. >But her smile
  24. >Wider than you'd ever seen it
  25. >Which, honestly, was kind of pathetic
  26. >"Rough week?"
  27. >You try to stay casual
  28. >"Yes. It has been... Difficult."
  29. >You nod
  30. >"Let's just get this over with, okay?"
  31. >She nods, trying to contain herself
  32. >You think of a sandwich
  33. >A decent sandwich that you'd got at a bar back on Earth
  34. >Not fantastic, but good
  35. >She collapses onto the floor, gasping
  36. >You smile sadly
  37. >You remembered the first time that happened
  38. >You were sitting in your cell when a guard fetched you
  39. >Brought you up to Chrysalis
  40. >She was trying to mock you
  41. >You weren't sure why
  42. >Prideful gloating, maybe
  43. >Which was her fatal mistake
  44. >See, you took pride in one of the things she tried to insult you on
  45. >You can't really remember what
  46. >Something about how "No matter how good friends they are, they can't save you here"
  47. >The thought that even this monster recognized that you were actually friends with people on the strange planet -- That they'd accepted you, just like you dreamed-- Felt amazing
  48. >Really good
  49. >Chrysalis passed out
  50. >Most of her nearby drones flat-out died, their systems overloaded
  51. >You just walked out
  52. >You never told Celestia or Twilight exactly what happened
  53. >They didn't really want to know
  54. >They probably thought that you were secretly some kind of Eldridge abomination
  55. >After all, the hive was there one day, then you went there, then it was gone.
  56. >They had to have suspicions
  57. >When, ironically, it was just a small feeling that did everything
  58. >Since then, Chrysalis had called on you once a month
  59. >Always in progressively worse shape
  60. >You were pretty sure she was physically addicted at this point
  61. >You lift her up and put her on your couch, trying not to feel anything
  62. >You didn't want to hurt her
  63. >She trembled slightly, eyes half-lidded
  64. >"Thanks..."
  65. >Her words are slurred
  66. >You smile sadly at her
  67. >"Any time."
  68. >You sit next to her and try to read
  69. >You actually enjoyed her company
  70. >When she was able to hold a conversation (which typically happened a fear hours after she'd had a dose of your love), she was pretty intelligent
  71. >Funny
  72. >A total asshole, but in a good way
  73. >Which, in a way, made everything worse
  74. >Suppressing your feelings was difficult
  75. >Because, while you weren't sure, your stupid heart seemed to be falling for her
  76. >Just a little bit
  77. >But enough to notice
  78. >And, well, if you had knocked her unconscious with just a small feeling of hope in a desolate place
  79. >If a fucking sandwich was enough to make her into jello for hours
  80. >You knew exactly what just a smidgen of your love directed at her would do.
  81. >Slowly, her eyes flutter closed
  82. >She's asleep
  83. >You'll stay up
  84. >Until she leaves
  85. >Just in case you have some kind of dream involving her
  86. >She'd have to stop this eventually
  87. >She had to know that it was destroying her
  88. >But you were starting to have your doubts that she cared.
