  1. Basically... functionalism is really a good way to think about stuff. What's neat is "reality" takes a whole new meaning and something that's seemingly "virtual" or "not real" suddenly becomes just as valid a reality as "real" reality as long as it satisfies certain conditions, for exemple being complex enough and providing enough possibilities (a better way of putting it : it should be turing-complete or as close to it as anything can get in the universe). This gives a lot more importance to a virtual world like minecraft as people normally think we should give it... and makes us question the nature of the universe and everything that's in it, including ourselves... Very deep stuff.
  2.
  3. I really don’t know what it is with some people;
  4.
  5. For me, that ending poem for Minecraft, in a strange way, is one of the best things I’ve ever read.
  6.
  7. In fact, I’m inclined to believe that that conversation/poem has roots in existentialism and that all it may really be saying is that, given how smart we humans are and how much smarter we will inevitably become in the future, whether or not we realize it, we are all more powerful than we know.
  8.
  9. In general, we humans are lucky enough to have been made of just the right elements and ingredients to be able to exist at all; however, on top of that, we have the amazing abilities of being able to utilize our surroundings and create...
  10.
  11. To be able to care about things at all...
  12.
  13. To be able to love things...
  14.
  15. To be able to recognize that we exist within a universe...
  16.
  17. Also, think about it:
  18.
  19. Billions and billions of years ago, we humans didn’t exist... and now we’re here - not just as human beings, but as beings that spawned from the universe itself...
  20.
  21. Beings that just so happen to inhabit this planet, continuously advancing as a species that is bound to end up leaving and expanding beyond Earth, and, at some point, actively utilize and create with whatever else the universe has to offer, such as other planets and even the stars themselves.
  22.
  23. Lastly, along with the poem mentioning how life is a “long dream” and Minecraft is a “short dream”... just like the theory explains in this video, I really would like to think that that’s implying that playing video games, in general, is not really a waste of time and that they can be a valid alternative for us to try and understand our place in this world, or even this universe, from very different perspectives.
  24.
  25. So, you could say that that conversation that serves as the “ending” for Minecraft provides some much needed perspective and context for a game that, basically, has you playing a simplified version of real life, if you exclude the fictional monsters.
  26.
  27. Overall, I really wish many other people would realize that there truly is even a little bit of meaning to this game we call “Minecraft”;
  28.
  29. That, essentially, it’s part of our human nature to create... To bring things into existence via utilizing nature itself.
  30.
  31. Because we can.
  32.
  33. Because, in a strange way, it’s almost as if the universe made us this way on purpose...
  34.
  35. Anyway, I enjoyed this video - very thought-provoking. :)
  36.
  37. In fact, it’s so thought-provoking that I very much believe most of what’s said in this video are factual statements about this near-philosophical “ending” to Minecraft.
  38.
  39. To me, it’s not just a theory;
  40.
  41. I don’t think there’s currently any other video on YouTube that could have explained this ending any better.
  42.
  43. This isnt life. The real life is after we die , we either get eternal suffering or eternal paradise based on our deeds
  44.
  45. Transcending real life is eternal life.
