- short summary of my first run: everyone redeemed themselves. I didn’t kill Shroud because I didn’t want Chase to hate me for it after he flamed me for wanting to kill him and reminded myself what being a hero means. AND I romanced Visi, not Blazer. Why? Let me explain:
- I knew from the first time we met Visi that our character would become closer with her in some capacity. When the 4th episode happened and I see Visi at the cinema alone I knew at that point I had to join her no matter what. But I had a feeling a choice would come up shortly, and when couple seconds later Blazer asked me out, I paused the game for 2 minutes to think as I didnt want to rush with a decision. Conclusion: In my eyes, I thought I had already made up my mind, as I saw Visi all alone in the theatre and the least I could do is being there for her, to show up, even in a non romantic way, be a friend you know (honest thought: although she isn’t perfect, I liked her messiness somewhat too) ... that being said making sure I help Visi to be seen, to be heard, and loved. So I didn’t necessarily go to the movies for it being just a date, but more like to be there for her, showing up when no one would. And to be fair Blazers text came a little bit to late (for me) when I had already made up my mind to be there for a (work) friend during difficult times. Keep in mind at this point I didnt know about Blazers struggle with her BB image and only saw the struggles of Visi.
- At this point, I was NOT 100% sold (yet) on a relationship with Visi and thought if me and Blazer were ever going to be a "thing", then this dinner invite rejection wouldn’t be the end of it anyways, as she would have understood and probably done the same.
- The cinema scene came, happened, and went by, and I actually did start to like her much more to the point that if there had been another turning point where I could have chosen Blazer as the final romance option, I still would have probably gone with Visi because of how things went when we were close together. So although I went into the cinema date with an open mind, I fell for her because I saw the real Visi, the person she actually is: hard on the outside, but cute and sweet on the inside with alot of trust issues and insecurities. (and I kind of like cinema dates, im 28 but call me old fashioned if u will)
- I never cut her from the team. I leaned in for the kiss too, and I did untie her because I knew the real Visi would never let me or the team down, even if her actions or words didn’t make sense all the time. Thank god she did not disappoint.
- Now my fair confession: since I didn’t know Blazer is actually a brunette and is about 2 inches shorter (and somewhat sweeter as Mandy), you can imagine how surprised I was at the end seeing her all innocent and helpless without her powers (especially since I am a brunette guy — this was a little sting, haha and after I replayed the date with her, just wow what a girl, what a woman, a real gem for sure)
- To sum it up, I believe there is no wrong romance as long as you get the good ending for everyone.
- Both Visi and Blazer have similar struggles. Both are only seen for one thing only: one as the villain girl who always messes up and cant change for the better, and the other as the big superhero who everyone is so fond of that it made her actual self, Mandy, feel like she is not enough because BB set such high standards.
- But all they want is being seen for who they actually are, being loved by someone who sees their true self, and being accepted, ... feeling enough ...
- When you romance Visi:
- Mandy clearly is fine with it because she showed her vulnerable side in front of everyone by giving up the amulet, and this act alone helped her to come out of her shell. She did that by herself — no Robert date needed for that. She finally felt relieved and accepted and was obviously happy for Robert and Visi too. So in that case she got her peace of mind.
- When you romance Mandy:
- Visi learns at the end that it’s fine and that she too doesn’t need the love from Robert and even pushes him to move towards Mandy, as she clearly cares for his happiness as he cared for her as a mentor. Visi, in this situation, similar to Mandy in the other scenario, finally found peace — finally got the last thing she needed to feel accepted and seen by everyone. Because although she and Robert didn’t end up together, she knew she could count on him as he was always by her side, and she has the team, which in the end obviously had her deeply in their hearts.
- This game, man…
- It had me by the guts since EP1, and I am happy I finally had the time to play this masterpiece this week.
- The music, the characters, the plot — this had it all. Now I can’t wait for Season 2 (fingers crossed), and in the meantime, I’m looking forward to another season of Invincible in March and whatever new season of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein is being cooked up by Critical Role on Prime.

- I’ll comment here so I don’t provoke a shitstorm on Reddit. I completely agree with you. I chose the movie theatre in episode 4 for exactly the same reasons. For me, that choice wasn’t primarily about romance, but about simply supporting a lonely, insecure person who, for the first time in a long while, managed to succeed at something and is only just starting to open up a little.
- As for romance specifically, I realized that my Robert would choose Visi back at the end of episode 3, if given the chance. I just didn’t expect to like their dynamic (and the game as a whole) so much that I’d still be active in its community months after release. Dispatch even made me open AO3 for the first time in eight years.
- Blonde Blazer is a good character too, and I can understand why people like her more than Visi - at least until they start lecturing others and acting like they occupy some kind of moral high ground. The Visi route and the BB route simply tell slightly different stories, and there’s no point in arguing about which one is “better”: it all comes down to personal perception and preference. Unfortunately, a lot of people in the fandom don’t seem to understand that, especially on the main subreddit, which periodically turns into a crusade against Visi.

- Hey Pixelbug, I made an account just to be able to reapond to you. I made the post above with a free account.
- Anyways, thanks for your message, I heard from some already how Anti Visi this Subreddit has become.
- I understand that some might not like her because of how she treats others or by her actions. But I think people miss the point of her character development. She starts out as an Ex-Villain, which turned out to be doing villain shit on the side. Of course she will be unstable and hard to read or talk to. But she actually cared about the team and Robert.
- her Redemption arc at the end tanking a bullet for you is worth mentioning. I strongly believe that after the end she actually turned her life around. But keeping her messed up humor and showing her delicate side while only with Robert.
- I just have a feeling that most of those people who went with BB as romance option, have failed Visi as a mentor and had seen her turn into a villain in the end. And thats why they have a strong opinion about it.
- You can send me a direct message on Reddit if you want to chat about it more :)
