- ok so I felt like writing and some people ask me how I practice
- So if you wanna practice efficiently but not spend alot of time with it this is a pretty good way to practice
- Consistency > Risk
- This is something I see quite often that people do alot of risky strats but often end up losing more time by failing which can end up to huge timelosses or runkillers, always do consistent strats because it will be easier for you to finish runs and practice the later parts in the run. Doing risky strats can be good when your time is getting optimized but it can still be bad at times.
- If you're practicing a new trick, make sure to understand why it works and what can go wrong, are there any backup strats? can I avoid it if its too hard? theres alot of things to a trick and its good to know everything(or most of it) to be able to know what can happen.
- When you're new to a speedgame and just started out, do a run, finish it and then practice everything that went wrong in the run until you can get it 3-5 times in a row, this is useful even when you're derusting a game or even if you're an experienced runner.
- Movement is hard to practice and it will just come by time, so dont worry about that, but if you think your movement is bad, try watching a world record and see how they get from point A to point B.
- Try to find streamers that run the same game as you, they might do some strats that you might not know about and its good to find other strats as backups.
- Never practice something too much as you will just overrestimate the trick and think its gonna be easy, when in reality its not.
- The reason behind this is because the more you expect from yourself in runs, the worse your performance will show.
- Sure practicing something alot is good but you need to balance it out with doing runs, doing a trick in practice and doing a trick in a run are two different things because in runs you will have pressure whereas in practice theres nothing hindering you.
- And most importantly, mindset, you need to have a good mindset in order to stay confident in how you play
- good example: "I failed a trick, its okay that was just a human error, and I can still PB so Ill keep going!"
- bad example: "dangit I failed a trick, the run sucks now theres no way I can PB, stupid RNG!"
- The good example will keep you positive, there is going to be mistakes in a run and theres no way to avoid it, just play your best!
- The bad example will put you in a negative state, you wont focus as much and you will just keep complaining and this usually spirals into worse mistakes and a worse mindset.
- If you have a bad mindset but still wanna do runs, take a quick 5-10 min break to relax and you will be back on track again.
- ok i cant think of anything else but this is how i practice and i seem to be pretty successful with it.
