1. Tiankui
(天魁);
Leader Star / Chief Star of Heaven
The original Tenkai Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Song Jiang, also known as Kongming, Filial and Righteous Dark Third Son, Timely Rain, and Protector of Righteousness. Jiang was a historical person from China's Song dynasty, transformed into a legendary folk hero like Robin Hood even before the novel was written. Like his counterparts in the games, Song Jiang led a band of rebels with a stronghold in the middle of a wetland, gathering the other 107 stars to him.


2. Tiangang
(天罡);
Strength Star / Star of Conflagration
The Tengou Star has a significant role in the game. They are usually the Skilled General or Leader of a village or country. They are second in command after the Tenkai Star.


3. Tianji
(天機);
Knowledge Star / Star of Wisdom
Usually found in the War Room, this star is commonly associated with a strategist NPC. These characters guide the plot and decide major battles with their impressive intellect and cunning.
They have a habit of planning and preparing attacks or the next mission, while the hero is off in some dungeon, generally keeping him out of the loop.


4. Tianwen
(天閒);
Leisure Star / Star of Idleness
Tenkan Stars are usually powerful magicians associated with True Runes, in some way. They are also the Tablet Guardian, except for Ted. Lots of Tenkan Stars are the loner type, and in later games, their names start with Z.
The original Tenkan Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Gongsun Sheng, also known as Single Purity and Dragon in the Clouds. Like his counterparts in the games, Sheng was a powerful magician, but he was also one of the head strategists for the Liangshan bandits.


5. Tianyong
(天勇);
Brave Star / Star of Bravery
Song Jiang, Liangshan's chief, is impressed with Guan Sheng's might and is eager to have him join the Liangshan band. He sends Huyan Zhuo to pretend to be a turncoat and lure Guan Sheng into a trap. Guan Sheng falls for the ruse, arms himself with a bow and arrows, and brings only a few men with him to meet Huyan Zhuo. He is captured in the ambush and decides to join Liangshan after being persuaded by Song Jiang. He becomes one of Liangshan's Five Tiger Generals later.

Emperor Huizong sends Shan Tinggui and Wei Dingguo to eliminate the outlaws after Guan Sheng's defection. Eager to prove his loyalty, Guan Sheng volunteers to lead the attack on the imperial army, along with Xuan Zan and Hao Siwen, who have also joined Liangshan. Unexpectedly, the first battle ends in disaster when both Xuan Zan and Hao Siwen are captured by the enemy. Guan Sheng confronts Shan Tinggui outside Lingzhou (凌州; present-day Ling County, Dezhou, Shandong), where the two engage in man-to-man combat. Guan Sheng feigns defeat to lure Shan Tinggui to pursue him, and then suddenly turns around to catch Shan off guard, knocks him off his horse and captures him. Song Jiang manages to convince Shan Tinggui to join Liangshan, and then Shan goes to persuade Wei Dingguo to join Liangshan as well.


6. Tianxiong
(天雄);
Majestic Star / Star of Heroic Ferocity
Lin Chong resembles Zhang Fei in appearance. He stands just over six chi, with glaring eyes and a head like a panther's. He is thus nicknamed "Panther Head". Before becoming an outlaw, Lin Chong served as a martial arts instructor of the Imperial Guards in the capital, Dongjing


7. Tianmeng
(天猛);
Fierce Star / Star of Swift Courage
Qin Ming is an imperial general serving in Qingzhou (青州; in present-day Shandong). His ancestral home is in Kaizhou (開州; believed to be present-day Puyang, Henan). He is nicknamed "Fiery Thunderbolt" because of his almost barbaric temper, which is continuously emphasised in the novel, and his thunderous voice. He is peerless in the use of his wolf-toothed mace.


8. Tianwei

Both Huyan Zhuo and Pesmerga develops a counter plan for a seemingly formidable formation from the enemy


9. Tianying
(天英);
Hero Star / Heroic Star
In game many Tenei Star play as the Sworn Protector. They protect the protagonist of the game or another character and they are willing to risk their life for them.

He is actively involved in numerous battles between Liangshan and its enemies and his prowess in archery always proved to be a blessing to his fellows. For example, he once shot down an enemy signal lantern and enabled the Liangshan forces to retreat safely. In another incident, Hua Rong shoots down an eagle high up in the sky with a single arrow shot. His charisma also makes him an important figure in persuading several other heroes to join the Liangshan cause.


10. Tiangui
(天貴);
Noble Star / Lofty Star
Almost all of the Tenki Star play as the Town Mayor or is associated with them. They play a vital role in the game.

The original Tenki Lofty Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Chai Jin, a nobleman of royal descent who was also known as Little Whirlwind. Like his counterparts from the games, especially Warren, Jin was wealthy and famous. He made friends of many bold men, and he was known to be generous with them and to help out fugitives from the law.


11. Tianfu
(天富);
Wealth Star / Star of Wealth
The novel describes Li Ying as a unique-looking man with eyes like those of a hawk, a head like a tiger's, arms like an ape's and a waist like a wolf's. He dons a red robe, rides on a white stallion and wields a steel spear in battle. He is best known for using his flying daggers, which he uses to accurately strike enemies a distance away from him. He is nicknamed "Striking Hawk" for his superb accuracy and speed with using his daggers and for his prowess in combat skills.

Li Ying is from Yunzhou (鄆州), Zhongshan Prefecture (中山府), which is around present-day Dongping County, Tai'an, Shandong. He is the master of the Li Family Village, one of the three villages near Lone Dragon Ridge (獨龍崗); the other two villages are the Zhu and Hu family villages. A wealthy squire with scores of servants and a small militia under his command, he is friendly and always willing to use his wealth to help those in need.

12. Tianman
(天滿);
Fulfillment Star / Star of Abundance
Since then, Zhu Tong's civil career has undertaken a slight deviation as he is inclined to side with his outlaw friends instead of performing his duties as a law enforcer.


13. Tiangu
(天孤);
Solitary Star / Lone Star
The star is generally known to take the role as the protagonist's mentor and usually use swords, or another warrior type weapon, such as a poleaxe.

The original Tenko Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Lu Zhishen, born Lu Da and also known as Sagacious Lu and Flowery Monk. Lu has very little in common with his counterparts from the games, except that like Viktor he is a prominent character important to the plot. In Water Margin, he was an army major who fled and became a Buddhist monk after killing a man. He made a very poor monk, with his outrageous temper, love of meat, and alcoholism, but he often came to the aid of friends with his enormous strength, prowess, and Shaolin spade.


14. Tianshang
(天傷);
Harm Star / Wounded Star
The original Tensyo Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Wu Song, also known as Pilgrim and Tiger-Fighting Hero. He has almost nothing in common with his counterparts from the games, being best known for becoming the blood brother of Song Jiang, for murdering his sister-in-law and her lover, and for beating a man-eating tiger to death.

15. Tianli
(天立);
Steadfast Star / Star of the Standing Spear
Dong Ping is from Shangdang (上黨), Hedong (河東), which is around present-day Yuncheng, Shanxi. He serves the imperial army as a general in Dongping Prefecture (東平府; present-day Dongping County, Tai'an, Shandong). He wields a pair of spears in combat – hence his nickname "General of Double Spears" – and is feared by many for his prowess in battle. Apart from being an accomplished warrior, Dong Ping is also a connoisseur of music and the arts. He can play many musical instruments and is described by women as a romantic man. As such, he is also nicknamed "Refined and Cultured General of Double Spears".


16. Tianjie
(天捷);
Agile Star / The Swift Star
The novel describes Zhang Qing's appearance as such: a handsome, energetic and agile warrior with a waist like a wolf's, arms like an ape's, and a body like a tiger's. He is from Zhangde Prefecture (彰德府; present-day Anyang, Henan), and is first introduced in the novel as an imperial general serving in Dongchang Prefecture (東昌府; in present-day Liaocheng, Shandong). He is nicknamed "Featherless Arrow" because of his "flying stones" technique, which he uses in combat. This technique allows him to, with the mere flick of a finger, fling pebbles and small stones at an opponent's face with extreme accuracy. When his opponents are stunned and temporarily disabled after being hit, he will use the opportunity to kill or capture them.
Tensyo stars tend to be recluse, or just don't deal with people very often, they have their own agenda.


17. Tian'an
(天暗);
Dark Star / Dark Star
The original Tenan Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Yang Zhi, also known as Blue Faced Beast. Like his counterparts from the games, Zhi is associated with an important sword, a precious heirloom that he attempted to sell; instead he was forced to kill a local bully with it. He is better known for failing to prevent a convoy of valuable birthday presents from being stolen, which made him an outlaw.


18. Tianyou

19. Tiankong
(天空);
Flight Star / Empty Star
"Impatient Vanguard" because of his hot temper and tendency to always charge ahead of his men in battle


20. Tiansu

There are Tensoku Star that doesn't bear a Godspeed Rune but they are absolutely fast, but they are not as fast as the one who has the Godspeed Rune


21. Tianyi
(天異);
Deviance Star / Strange Star
The original Teni Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Liu Tang, also known as Red Haired Devil. He has little in common with his counterparts from the games; Liu Tang is best known for instigating the robbery of a convoy of expensive gifts.


22. Tiansha
(天殺);
Killer Star / Murderous Star
The Tensatsu Stars are the beastly or berserker fighters, meaning that they are often quite tough and strong, except for Utze, who does not really fit the image. Of them, Fu Su Lu, Hallec and Gau all wear animal skins over their head, a common trait of berserkers.


23. Tianwei
(天微);
Minute Star / Lowly Star
He has been fascinated with martial arts since childhood, and spends his time training or befriending other jianghu figures. In doing so, he neglects his duties of running the village.


24. Tianjiu
(天究);
Investigative Star / Lewd Star
The novel describes Mu Hong as a handsome and talented looking man with an impressive appearance and eyebrows that resemble silkworms. He has a younger brother, "Little Unrestrained" Mu Chun. The brothers are from a wealthy and influential family in Jieyang Town (揭陽鎮; believed to be in present-day Jiujiang, Jiangxi), near the Xunyang River. Mu Hong is famous for his bravery and prowess in martial arts.


25. Tiantui
(天退);
Defence Star / Retreating Star
The original Tentai Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Lei Heng, also known as Winged Tiger. Like his counterpart Pahn, he worked for the government in the early part of the story, but out of loyalty he would help heroes escape the law.


26. Tianshou
(天壽);
Longevity Star / Star of Longevity
The novel describes Li Jun as a man eight chi tall, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, a reddish face, wire-like whiskers and a loud booming voice. He is from Luzhou (蘆州; present-day Hefei, Anhui), but lives in Jieyang Ridge (揭陽嶺; believed to be in present-day Jiujiang, Jiangxi), near the Xunyang River, with his younger brother, Li Li. He is not only well versed in martial arts, but is also a powerful swimmer capable of performing many feats in the water. He is thus nicknamed "River Dragon".

27. Tianjian
(天劍);
Sword Star / Dagger Star
The Tenken Star are always seen with Tenzai Star and Tenpai Star. This Trio can be related by blood or they can be a group of people.

The original Tenken Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Ruan Xiao'er, also known as Ruan the Second (as in second child), and Tai Sui Who Stands His Ground (Tai Sui being a term from Chinese astrology). Like his counterparts from the games, he is associated with the Tenzai Star and Tenpai Star, as the three are brothers and inseparable. Moreover, the brothers are skilled boatmen native to the waters around the Liangshan stronghold.


28. Tianping
(天平);
Balance Star / Leveled Star
The novel describes Zhang Heng as a man seven chi tall, with triangular eyes, yellow whiskers, red hair and crimson eyes. He is an excellent swimmer and can leap out of the water from wave to wave like flying fish. Even harsh weather conditions do not deter him from performing superhuman feats in water. He is nicknamed "Boatman" for his abilities.
Zhang Heng lives in Jieyang Ridge (揭陽嶺; believed to be in present-day Jiujiang, Jiangxi), near the Xunyang River, with his younger brother, Zhang Shun. The brothers engage in illegal trading and piracy on the river. Later, Zhang Shun moves to Jiangzhou (江州; east of present-day Chongzuo, Guangxi) and works as a fisherman there. A compulsive gambler, Zhang Heng disguises himself as a ferryman and robs unsuspecting travellers to support his gambling habits.


29. Tianzui
(天罪);

The Tenzai Star are always seen with Tenken Star and Tenpai Star. This Trio can be related by blood or they can be a group of people.

The original Tenzai Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Ruan Xiaowu, also known as Ruan the Fifth (as in fifth child), and Short-lived Second Brother. Like his counterparts from the games, he is associated with the Tenken Star and Tenpai Star, as the three are brothers and inseparable. Moreover, the brothers are skilled boatmen native to the waters around the Liangshan stronghold.


30. Tiansun
(天損);
Damage Star / Broken Star
The novel describes Zhang Shun as a man six chi tall, with a fair complexion and a beautiful beard. He is nicknamed "White Stripe in the Waves" because of his powerful swimming and diving skills.

Zhang Shun and his elder brother, Zhang Heng, live in Jieyang Ridge (揭陽嶺; believed to be in present-day Jiujiang, Jiangxi), near the Xunyang River. He used to join his brother in engaging in illegal trading and piracy on the river, but moved to Jiangzhou (江州; east of present-day Chongzuo, Guangxi) later and works as a fisherman there.


31. Tianbai
(天敗);
Defeat Star / The Vanquished Star
The Tenpai Star are always seen with Tenken Star and Tenzai Star. This Trio can be related by blood or they can be a group of people.

The original Tenpai Star, from the novel Water Margin, was Ruan Xiaoqi, also known as Ruan the Seventh (as in seventh child), and Living King Yama (Yama being a Buddhist judge of the dead). Like his counterparts from the games, he is associated with the Tenken Star and Tenzai Star, as the three are brothers and inseparable. Moreover, the brothers are skilled boatmen native to the waters around the Liangshan stronghold.


32. Tianlao
(天牢);
Secure Star / The Goal Star
One day, Yang Xiong receives gifts from the locals after performing an execution on a criminal. On the way back, he runs into a group of hooligans seeking trouble and fights with them. Shi Xiu appears in the nick of time and he helps Yang Xiong drive away the hooligans. Yang Xiong feels that he has a special affinity with Shi Xiu and they become sworn brothers.

Yang Xiong brings Shi Xiu home and lets Shi work in his butcher stall. Shi Xiu discovers Yang Xiong's wife, Pan Qiaoyun, having an affair with a monk called Pei Ruhai and he informs Yang about the incident. Pan Qiaoyun accuses Shi Xiu of molesting her when her husband asks her about the affair. Yang Xiong believes his wife instead and he drives Shi Xiu away in anger. Shi Xiu is unhappy and is determined to reveal the truth to his sworn brother.

Shi Xiu ambushes Pei Ruhai and kills him. He shows the monk's body to Yang Xiong. Yang Xiong brings his wife to Mount Cuiping (翠屏山; in present-day Jizhou, Hengshui, Hebei) and interrogates her. Pan Qiaoyun confesses her extramarital affair when she sees that her lover is dead. Yang Xiong kills her in anger along with her servant Ying'er.


33. Tianhui
(天慧);
Wisdom Star / Star of Intelligence
He is brave, daring, and has a strong sense of righteousness and justice. He always helps those who are oppressed or in need and even risks his life to do that sometimes. He is thus nicknamed "Daredevil Third Brother".

However, Shi Xiu's nickname does not personify him fully. Besides being humble, he is also witty and sharp. During the battle between the outlaws from Liangshan Marsh and forces from the Zhu Family Village, Shi Xiu acts as a spy for Liangshan and evades capture from the enemy. He disguises himself as a firewood seller and persuades an old man into telling him about the traps set by the enemy. He reports the traps to Liangshan forces and leads them out of the danger zone safely. He rescues that old man after the battle.

36. Tianqiao

The novel describes Yan Qing's appearance as such: a handsome youth over six chi tall, with red lips, thick eyebrows, broad shoulders and a narrow waist. He sports flowery tattoos all over his upper torso, which appear prominently due to the contrast of his pale complexion. He loses his parents at an early age and is raised by the wealthy squire Lu Junyi, who lives in Daming Prefecture (大名府; in present-day Handan, Hebei). In return, Yan Qing serves as one of Lu Junyi's stewards and is very loyal to his master.

Apart from being an accomplished martial artist and wrestler, Yan Qing is also a talented musician who plays a variety of instruments and sings ballads and songs. With his personal charisma and expertise in various fields, he blends well into society and is seen as the perfect candidate to go on stealth and espionage missions.
