Your girlfriend, who is a woman of color experiences discrimination in the workplace. Following the incident, she is concerned if she could just be a fling to you, if maybe because of her skincolor you wouldn’t be able to see her as a real, long-term partner. By trying to put yourself in her position and being honest about how you feel, you help her to overcome her fears. Now you can enjoy your long-awaited date night, which includes your secret plan of a super sweet pic nic at the beach, where you guys cuddle and have some more deep talk.
This script is about appreciation and addressing the challenges and insecurities that can occur in interracial relationships. It was important to me, while recognizing the beauty in differences e.g. skin color, not to fetishize any color, or putting it in a specific, stereotypical characteristic. While embracing the differences, the focus remains on all humans being equal.

Baaaaabe, are you ready for our date night?
Why are you still in your bath robe?
I got us a table for eight o’clock.
[getting annoyed] You don’t want to go? What do you mean?
I was looking forward to this the whole week,
I even prepared a special surprise for tonight.
[upset] And now you have something better to do or what the hell is going on?

(listener starts crying)
