  5. ROUTE REVISION 2 (05/14/2021):
  6. - The routing is mostly the same, except for TinyMedals - instead of walking around the Beginner Gate, this route will use the Bazaar
  7. Gate to spawn a special treasure floor that gives either 6 or 8 chests, each with 1% chance of TinyMedal.
  8. - When in a gate, and entering a floor that is a multiple of 3 (e.g., walking from floor 2 -> 3, or 5 -> 6), there is a 50% chance
  9. of getting a special floor. Then, based on the entire Gate the player is in, there are different percentages for which room
  10. spawns. The Bazaar and Peace Gates have the highest percentage chance of yielding a treasure room (40%), and the Bazaar Gate is
  11. the best choice because of its accessibility to the Bazaar for shopping.

  14. ROUTE REVISION 1 (02/20/2021):
  15. - TinyMedals are retrieved as soon as Gate of Anger is completed, rather than arbitrarily putting it off:
  16. - TinyMedals give access to the strongest Gate for EXP
  17. - The only limiting factor for getting TinyMedals is having access to money to buy Repellents, and money is most easily farmed
  18. while having access to BookMarks, which is after Gate of Anger.
  19. - Rerouted clearing gates to use both Wizard NPC for getting to the end floors earlier, and defeating bosses with strongest party
  20. - Rerouted catching most monsters until post-game Gates are available, which have low level monsters on lower floors
  21. - Original planning was to travel through each gate and catch monsters throughout the game, but this was slow in practice

  24. - Use any% strats with minor modifications for Gate of Anger
  25. - After Gate of Anger, access to Bookmarks allows for efficient money farming
  26. - Collect TinyMedals and hand in for Medal Man's Gate
  27. - Use Medal Man's Gate for efficient EXP to breed final party
  28. - Using final party (Transform & Bikill strats), steamroll available Gates and gain EXP on final party
  29. - Complete Tournament, access post-game
  30. - Using post-game Gates, catch monsters while descending into bottom floors *

  33. * This in particular is perhaps the best part of the reroute. In the post-game Gates, the monsters in floors 1-5 are very easy to catch monsters, then the encounters change in floors 6-10. Further, you want to get to around floor 6 to use the Wizard to warp 20 floors. You specifically want to do this earlier in the gate than later, because the encounters are less dangerous and easier to run from. So for these final Gates, you descend floors 1-5 and catch monsters, get to floor 6 and catch different monsters, then find a Wizard, warp to the end floors, then defeat the boss of the gate.

  37. - What is this category?
  38. This category is effectively "all bosses" (without fighting the Master Monster Tamer optional boss). Getting Watabou (an important story character, and recruitable ally) requires completing all gates. Time starts on NEW GAME, and ends when Watabou flies off screen closes after recruiting to your party.

  40. - What are the requirements?
  41. On top of completing all gates and defeating the boss or bosses at the end of each gate, there are a few overarching tasks that must be done throughout the game:
  42. - 100 unique monsters must be recruited, either via direct recruit or through breeding
  43. - 13 TinyMedals must be collected, 6 of which are readily available in the homeworld, and the other 7 must be found in gates
  44. - A GoldSlime must be created
  45.  
  46. This makes each run very different. For 100 monsters, recruited monsters can be chained into each other for breeding, but breeding chains largely cannot be routed out fully in advance because of the randomness of genders for recruited allies. So during runs, the player has to chain together whatever they can to get closer to recruiting 100 monsters. This leads to spontaneous strategy. For 13 TinyMedals, every gate has a 1% spawn rate for TinyMedals, and there are some additional ways to get them, such as fighting foreign masters.

  48. After the credits roll, the game unlocks numerous more gates that have final bosses from Dragon Quest 1 - 6, which are significantly harder than bosses leading up to the end of the standard run. The last boss fought in the run is Deathmore (DQ6), who has the most health.
