'The mouths of the silver lions are made to pour fourth cosmos...'
I asked the Princess to tell me more about the fountain in the courtyard, the beautiful Silver Tree, for my account for the Pope.

A detailed explanation
'One of the gilded serpents is primed with cara cosmos the clarified mares' milk, on celebratory occasions. The other three pour forth wine, and bal, which is a drink like mead made with honey, and rice mead, which you may know as terracina;. For each a silver bowl is placed under the tree to receive it. These drinks represent the east, west, north and south, all the lands of the Great Mongol Empire...'

The Princess spoke as if she were reciting from an account similar to my own. I wrote down her words exactly. But she laid a hand on the silver flank of one of the lions, and caressed it affectionately as she spoke.
