- <@DTC> themantyke I have a challenge for you
- <@DTC> make a vgc 2012 team that (ab)uses stealth rock well
- <@DTC> do you think you can make it work
- <TheMantyke> There's a bit of potential for Stealth Rocks what with everyone running focus sashes and EVs to brave ultra specfic hits.
- <TheMantyke> It'd be hard and I might not be the man for the job, but I guess I can try
- <TheMantyke> first though, gotta get my autumn friendly team ready !_!
- <@DTC> I will award you with vops if you can do it
- <TheMantyke> I'll see what I can do
- Use Stealth Rocks to weaken Metagross's common counters (Zapdos, Rotom-H) and ruin sashes and such.
- Metagross is the star!
- Mesprit looks cool and pairs well enough with metagross.
- cS Breloom to make them switch a bunch!
- Fake Out support helps Breloom do stuff and Mesprit too!
- Specs Rotom Seems like a cool choice. Helps vs rain
- And a Sub Garchomp because WHY NOT.
- Note, this is a very bare bones list of stuff as I am currently frantically putting the final touches on my autumn friendly and have no time to flesh it out. EV spreads probably stink thanks to how attack stats work at level 50, but I'm to lazy to pull out a damage calculator and make super in depth EVs. Try it out and see if it works I guess.
- The whole point of the team is to try making Stealth Rocks reasonabley good. The team trys to focus on getting opponents to switch be it through Trick, Status, or Intimidate, and have Pokemon that love having there checks softened up just slightly.
- Metagross @ Shuca Berry
- Clear Body
- Adamant
- 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Speed
- -Meteor Mash
- -Zen Headbutt
- -Bullet Punch
- -Protect
- When I think of Metagross counters, the first things I think of are stuff like Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Rotom-H. Stealth Rocks puts them all in range of Zen Headbutt 2HKOs so they don't rain on his parade anymore.
- Mesprit @ Sitrus Berry
- Levitate
- Calm
- 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 6 Speed
- -Ice Beam
- -Thunderbolt
- -Stealth Rock
- -Trick Room / Protect
- Mespirit synergizes really well with Metagross in a similar way to cresselia. Mesprit however has a pretty cool movepool including the all important Stealth Rock! Ice Beam and Thunderbolt gives her coverage Cresselia goes green with envy for. Trick Room is to invert opponents or to set up your own if you have something like just Metagross and Mespririt left in the game.
- Breloom @ Choice Scarf
- Technician
- Jolly
- 252 HP / 252 Speed / 6 Speed
- -Spore
- -Bullet Seed
- -Ankle Sweep
- -Mach Punch
- Oh my god, this thing is annoying. This is what happens when you play a rule set without sleep clause. You get stuff like this sporing everything while its partner attacks. All you do is outrun stuff and spore, hopefully forcing switches or allowing stuff on your team to wail on the foes.
- Hitmontop @ Chesto Berry
- Intimidate
- Adamant
- 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Speed
- -Fake Out
- -Close Combat
- -Sucker Punch
- -Rest
- Intimidate support that will hopefully get even more stuff to switch. Works well with Mespirit and Breloom, allowing them to Stealth Rock / Spore in relative peace. Rest is pretty standard Hitmontop stuff I don't think I need to explain!
- Rotom-W @ Choice Specs
- Levitate
- Modest
- 252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 6 Speed
- -Thunderbolt
- -Hydro Pump
- -Hidden Power Grass
- -Trick
- This gives the team some much needed defense against Rain. Everything hurts with a pair of Choice Specs on. Trick forces more switching nonsense and is great for screwing over metagross and tyranitar.
- Garchomp @ Haban Berry
- Rough Skin
- Jolly
- 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 6 HP
- -Dragon Claw
- -Earthquake
- -Substitute
- -Protect
- I had just enough levitating pokemon to have the excuse of using an Earthquake users. Truth be told, I never use Garchomp, so it's really on here for me to play around with, so it might be dumb or pretty cool. Sub works really well with Hitmontop and Breloom too.
