  1. Anon makes Celestia some Tenderloin.
  2.
  3. >"None of my chefs really know how to cook it, but... Well, I thought it would be something special I can do for you."
  4. >You desperately try not to visibly salivate
  5. >Standing in front of you is a long, delicious, non-butchered cut of tenderloin
  6. >The entire fucking muscle
  7. >You have no idea where she got it from
  8. >You don't care
  9. >It'd been a full year since you last had meat
  10. >You've almost forgot the taste
  11. >You turn to her
  12. >"That- How did you-"
  13. >She blushes
  14. >"Magic, Anonymous. I thought it would make a good anniversary gift."
  15. >You turn back to the meat
  16. >Well, it wasn't even close to fit for consumption in its current state
  17. >But it was just some TLC away from being one of your absolute favorite foods
  18. >"You're amazing. I can't believe..."
  19. >You try to control yourself
  20. >"Thank you. So much."
  21. >She nods in return
  22. >"Tell me, Anonymous, how does one prepare this, uh, 'cut' of meat?"
  23. >You try to remember an old Good Eats episode on the topic
  24. >"Well, first, we have to cut off some stuff. Then you typically fillet it, and cook it, and then maybe pour some gravy and eat it with potatoes and asparagus."
  25. >"I do like asparagus. Hopefully I'll enjoy how it pairs with this 'beef' as well."
  26. >You turn away from the meat, back to her
  27. >"Wait, what? You're eating this?"
  28. >She nods, looking slightly embarrassed
  29. >"Yes. I planned to. I figured that you would enjoy some company while eating, and I must admit, I am rather curious about the taste."
  30. >You bite you lip, still a bit confused
  31. >"Can you... Digest meat?"
  32. >She nods again
  33. >"Magic, Anon."
  34. >Right
  35. >You really should have guessed
  36. >"Do you mind terribly if I assist in your preparation? I would hate for you to have to do it all alone."
  37. >You smile at her
  38. >"I'd be honored to cook with a Princess. Now."
  39. >You look around the kitchen
  40. >"Where's your sharpest knife?"
  41. >She fetches you a wicked-looking knife from a nearby cabinet as you lift the cut off the counter and into the sink
  42. >You rinse it off with cold water as a red liquid seeps from it
  43. >"Is- Is that blood?"
  44. >"No, actually. It's most like... Protein-juice."
  45. >You turn off the water and let it drain
  46. >"Now... Let's see.. Cutting board?"
  47. >Celestia magicks a wooden board onto the table
  48. >You would have preferred marble or plastic, but it would do just fine
  49. >You place the knife to the side of the board, and turn it so the silverskin is facing upwards
  50. >You turn the board so the large end is in front of you
  51. >You slowly start to peel away the fatty membrane on top, working carefully
  52. >Celestia watches you intently
  53. >"What are you doing?"
  54. >"This stuff isn't good to eat. It's... Well, not something that really hits the tastebuds correctly."
  55. >She nods, looking slightly nervous
  56. >You finish your work and grap the knife next to you. Now to remove the chain...
  57. >You knife slowly sinks into the flesh of the steak. Celestia makes a small gasp beside you
  58. >You immediately stop
  59. >"Are you sure you want to watch this? I mean... I can see how this would be disturbing for you."
  60. >She shakes her head
  61. >"No, I- I understand that the animals on Earth are very different from those here. I shouldn't be so squeamish."
  62. >You have no fucking idea how she's going to handle actually eating this
  63. >You finish running the knife along the length of the steak, pulling away the chain
  64. >"Is that also undesirable for eating?"
  65. >You shake your head
  66. >"No, it's amazing. It just has very little meat on it, so it typically isn't served. Most of the time the cooks eat it."
  67. >You set it aside and turn the main cut over
  68. >Carefully, you run your knife down the side
  69. >"And what's that for?"
  70. >You keep your attention on the cut as you respond
  71. >"It's fat. Pure fat. Not really something that people eat. Now, some degree of fat is good -- You can see veins running through this meat, actually -- But pure fat is rather gross."
  72. >"Hmmm..."
  73. >Celestia still sounds a bit uncomfortable
  74. >"It's... Kind of weird to be thinking about eating fat. I mean- I have fat. You have fat."
  75. >You nod
  76. >"It's... Different, I guess. We're omnivores. We're designed to eat those kinds of things."
  77. >You finish removing the fat and turn to her
  78. >"But- Could you, in theory, eat..."
  79. >She's really struggling to say the next words
  80. >You decide you might as well finish it for her
  81. >"Other humans? Yes, but that never happens. It's considered to be a supreme evil."
  82. >She blinks
  83. >"I- I was actually going to say 'ponies,' but that's... Interesting to know."
  84. >Well, fuck
  85. >Whatever
  86. >"Can- Could you eat a pony?"
  87. >She looks apprehensive
  88. >You consider lying
  89. >No
  90. >Not to her
  91. >"Yes. I probably could. But why would I?"
  92. >You try to smile softly, desperately hoping that you don't accidentally give a serial-killer grin
  93. >"Ponies are my friends. Besides, I'm fine with beans and vegetables. And, uh, the species of animal that most closely resembles ponies on my world is known to be rather gross tasting."
  94. >She nods, still uncomfortable
  95. >You had a feeling that the taste of this would probably ease her fears
  96. >"You still okay with me cooking this?"
  97. >"C- Certainly. Yes. I do want to try it, even if it does seem a bit... Strange."
  98. >You nod and turn back to the steak
  99. >"Now... The most important part. I have to remove this stuff."
  100. >You turn the meat so the silverskin is facing up again
  101. >"It's connective tissue. Sort of like a tendon. When cooked, it tastes... Well, horrible. So I have to remove it..."
  102. >Carefully, you make several incisions, exposing all of the tissue
  103. >You slowly slip your knife into the tissue, perpendicular to the cut
  104. >You pull it tense and slowly glide your knife down to the end, then flip it over and pull the other way
  105. >It smoothly slides off
  106. >You set it aside
  107. >Celestia slowly leans in as you make another cut
  108. >"So... Methodical. Precise."
  109. >You nod, continuing to slide your blade slowly down the meat
  110. >"This cut of steak is considered one of the heights of luxury. Certain foods on Earth are reserved for special occasions, for the rich and famous and the royal. The tenderloin is among them, along with some types of seafood, and maybe a few other dishes. Personally..."
  111. >You pry the next strand free, going to work on another one
  112. >"I think the Tenderloin is king among them. Or maybe Lobster. Do ponies eat lobster?"
  113. >"The- The sea-bug?"
  114. >Celestia's nose scrunches in confusion
  115. >"That's considered a luxury? It's so... Gross-looking."
  116. >You try to not laugh as you pull off another strand
  117. >Not a good place to lose your concentration
  118. >"Yes, it is. But it's actually quite good."
  119. >She shrugs, continuing to watch you work
  120. >"Perhaps we can try it another time."
  121. >"Yeah. Now..."
  122. >You turn the meat over, silverskin completely removed, then turn back to her, knife loose in your hand
  123. >"How do we cut this..."
  124. >She looks at you, eyes slightly wide
  125. >Not in a frightful way. More of an inquisitive one.
  126. >"There's multiple ways to prepare this kind of meat. We could roast it, sear it, probably make it into burgers if we mixed it with a tougher cut..."
  127. >Her brow is lowered in confusion
  128. >It's honestly kind of cute
  129. >"Uh- Let's just say there's a lot of ways to make it. However..."
  130. >You grasp your knife slightly tighter
  131. >"I think that Filet Mignon is probably the best fit for one's first time eating meat, and for a princess."
  132. >She nods, relaxing somewhat
  133. >"Prepare it, then."
  134. >You smoothly slice off the side muscle, then turn back to Celestia
  135. >"Do you have a slicing knife?"
  136. >She nods. Without even looking behind you, she magics it out of a knife-holder on the counter opposite the room and hands it to you
  137. >"Thank you. Now, to fillet."
  138. >You slice off the tip and place it next to the chain. You briefly ponder portion sizes.
  139. >It's really consistency that matters
  140. >And you were cooking for Celestia, for God's sake
  141. >You had to be as accurate as possible
  142. >"Do you have a ruler?"
  143. >"A... A ruler?"
  144. >"Yes. A ruler. I need to cut this into pieces with equal size."
  145. >You hear the noise of magic behind you. In seconds, there's glowing white lines in regular intervals along the meat in front of you
  146. >You nod
  147. >"That's... Quite helpful. Maybe make them around... an inch and a half, with the very first one being three inches?"
  148. >The size adjusts to your specification
  149. >You cut the three-inch piece off and quickly butterfly it, then turn to Celestia
  150. >"Would you like to try?"
  151. >Her ears flatten against her head immediately after you ask
  152. >"I- I'm not sure I should-"
  153. >She swallows.
  154. >"I can try it."
  155. >You feel the knife being gently taken from your hands as you step out of the way
  156. >Celestia stands over the meat, a single bead of sweat moving down her brow
  157. >"Just smoothly cut through where you have marked. It won't give much resistance."
  158. >She does
  159. >The blade is shaking slightly, and her wings unfurl about an inch when the first cut hits the board with a *plop*
  160. >Soon, however, the tenderloin is fully butchered into beautiful Filet Mignon steaks
  161. >Celestia looks at you, squinting slightly in concentration
  162. >"How'd I do?"
  163. >"Like the finest French chef, Celestia."
  164. >"Now. We need to make the rest of this meal. Do you have any peppercorns?"
  165. >She opens up a nearby cabinet and places a jar of them on the counter
  166. >"Sea Salt?"
  167. >She does the same
  168. >"Okay. Cool. Now, we need a bowl..."
  169. >There's one on front of you shortly
  170. >"Awesome. Do you have a hammer? I need to smash some of these peppercorns into coarse pieces so I can put them in this bowl..."
  171. >Celestia smirks, and magicks about a handful of peppercorns into the air. As you watch, they are broken apart, and placed in the bowl.
  172. >"Thank you. Could you possibly coat those fillets with a bit of salt?"
  173. >She sprinkles some on, casually leaning up against the counter as she does so
  174. >She'd relaxed quite a bit ever since you stopped cutting into the meat
  175. >"Cool. Now..."
  176. >You grab a steak and carefully pat it down into the pepper, coating both sides
  177. >"Hey, Celestia. While I do this, can you get started on the mashed potatoes?"
  178. >"Can do!"
  179. >You hear her humming as she fills a pot up with water. As you continue to coat the steaks, you can hear potatoes being rapidly peeled, then tossed casually into some water.
  180. >"Okay. Those just need to cook. What next, Anonymous?"
  181. >You finish up the last steak and look up. You're greeted with steam.
  182. >"Is- Is that water already boiling?"
  183. >She grins
  184. >"Magic!"
  185. >Should've guessed.
  186. >"I need a steel pan, on a burner. Preferably stainless steel."
  187. >Almost immediately, Celestia retrieves one and puts it on
  188. >"Awesome. Turn that to low."
  189. >The flame light up as Celestia magically turns the knob
  190. >"Okay. Let's melt some butter in that. Maybe add some olive oil..."
  191. >You hear a fridge open as she magically whips some butter into the pan. It starts to sizzle nicely.
  192. >"Mmm... Awesome."
  193. >You let the butter melt, then raise the heat. You retrieve the steaks and bring them over to the pan
  194. >You gently place one onto the pan, pepper-size-down
  195. >They sizzile slightly, and soon the room smells of beef
  196. >"Mmm... That's..."
  197. >Celestia shudders slightly beside you
  198. >"Why... Why do I like this so much?"
  199. >You try to stop your own mouth from watering
  200. >"Probably the magical changes to your body. For omnivores, that smell is... Irresistible."
  201. >You shake out of it
  202. >"Now. You said you like asparagus?"
  203. >"Very much."
  204. >"Go steam some, if ya could. I can handle the steak."
  205. >You turn them over and watch Celestia as she works. She's adorable when she's busy.
  206. >Humming some song slightly
  207. >Lightly trotting everywhere
  208. >Smile on her face
  209. >You eventually remove them from the pan, and holler to Celestia
  210. >"Yo! You got something to keep these warm while I make the sauce?"
  211. >She just encases them in magic and goes back to her business, cleaning off some very thick stalks of Asparagus
  212. >You turn your pan over into another pot, removing all the fat and leaving semi-burn steak residue behind
  213. >Perfect seed for a sauce
  214. >Now... Let's see...
  215. >Cognac next, right?
  216. >"Celly!"
  217. >"Yes?"
  218. >"Ya got any Cognac?"
  219. >"Uh- Yes! In my private reserves! One moment-"
  220. >She flashes out of existence, teleporting somewhere else. With another flash, she's back in the room, bottle in tow
  221. >"Will this do?"
  222. >She hands it to you
  223. >The bottle is marked "Naponyian"
  224. >Probably the equivalent of Napoleon-grade in your world
  225. >A bit over-doing it, but it'll work
  226. >You turn the heat up as high as possible, waiting until the pan is at near-dangerous temperatures
  227. >That should do it
  228. >Now...
  229. >"Celestia?"
  230. >"Yes?"
  231. >She turns away from a pot she's working with
  232. >The steam in the air has caused her hair to go all frizzy
  233. >"I need some fire."
  234. >"Fire? What for?"
  235. >"To make this sauce."
  236. >Celestia trots over to you
  237. >"I can light whatever you like, Anonymous."
  238. >"Okay. Cool. So..."
  239. >You measure out about a third of a cup of Cognac and hold it over the pan
  240. >"Now. When I pour this in, light it on fire."
  241. >"On fire?"
  242. >"Yep."
  243. >You pour it in
  244. >Very quickly the steam it gives off turns to flames
  245. >Celestia admires it, head tilted slightly
  246. >"Can I have a wisk?"
  247. >Wordlessly, she magicks one over to you as the flames die down
  248. >"Thanks."
  249. >"Anytime."
  250. >She hums as she trots back to her asparagus
  251. >You scrape off the residue from the steaks as the sauce lightly steams
  252. >Soon it's a harsh, almost black color
  253. >Now...
  254. >"Celestia?"
  255. >"Yes?"
  256. >"Heavy cream?"
  257. >You find it on the counter next to you
  258. >Fucking magic
  259. >You wish you had it
  260. >You pour the cream into the pan, about a cup in total
  261. >You stir for about eight minutes, bringing it to a boil
  262. >It slowly becomes a delicious, thick brown sauce
  263. >You taste it
  264. >Fucking
  265. >Perfect
  266. >You add another small hit of sauce, then toss the steaks back in, breaking them out of their little magical heating bubble
  267. >You hear Celestia walk up behind you as you coat them
  268. >"Well. This is finished. How's the potatoes and asparagus?"
  269. >"Equally finished. Shall we eat? I already have the royal dining hall prepared."
  270. >You nod, then take the steaks out of the pan and place them on a plate
  271. >She does the same with the mashed potatoes and asparagus behind you
  272. >After pouring the sauce into a gravy boat, you face the door with her
  273. >Together, you enter the dining hall, food in tow
  274. >You both quickly get plates set up
  275. >Mashed Potatoes next to a portion of Asparagus
  276. >All framing the main course
  277. >The best-looking steam you'd ever made
  278. >Celestia nervously sits down next to you.
  279. >You grasp your already filled wineglass (must have been the palace staff), raising it
  280. >"To a wonderful year in a wonderful kingdom, ruled by a wonderful Princess."
  281. >She blushes, and taps her glass to yours with magic
  282. >You sit back
  283. >"Go on. Try it."
  284. >She eyes the food
  285. >Her mouth is dipped slightly downwards, but it's still watering
  286. >She cuts off a small piece of steak
  287. >The fork trembles as she brings it up to her mouth
  288. >She opens it
  289. >And takes her first ever bite of steak
  290. >You can see the relaxation spread through her body
  291. >Her wings flare out slightly, muscles holding them in relaxing
  292. >Her posture worsens
  293. >And her eyes slowly move to a half-lidded state
  294. >"Oh... Oh... Woooowwwww...."
  295. >She cuts off another bite, savoring the taste
  296. >"I- This is-"
  297. >Another bite
  298. >"This is better than cake."
  299. >You smile, taking your own bite of steak
  300. >It really was fantastic
  301. >You don't talk with her during dinner
  302. >She's too into the food
  303. >Every bite sends a very small shudder down her spine
  304. >You both take about half an hour to finish, savoring the taste
  305. >Celestia smiles at you over the table
  306. >"That... That was the best thing I've ever ate."
  307. >You can feel yourself blushing slightly
  308. >"It was quite good, but, then again, it was made by a Princess."
  309. >"Oh, hush. I was barely involved."
  310. >"I still couldn't have done it without you."
  311. >She fidgets slightly in her chair
  312. >"I- Thank you."
  313. >"No, thank you. You're the one who magicked up some tenderloin for us to eat."
  314. >"You cooked it!"
  315. >"With help."
  316. >She just nods in return
  317. >"I hope your one-year anniversary was satisfactory."
  318. >"Very."
  319. >You take a sip of wine
  320. >"This has been the best meal I've had since I got here."
  321. >"I thought it might be. I just... Wanted to give you a taste of home. I know it's hard."
  322. >The room is suddenly very quiet
  323. >"Hard to... Not fit in."
  324. >You take another drink
  325. >"Your subjects have had infinite kindness towards me, Princess. They've really made me feel like..."
  326. >Your voice trails off
  327. >You wanted to end that sentence with 'like I belong'
  328. >But, really, that would have been a lie
  329. >Celestia gives you a knowing look
  330. >"They are very kind ponies, yes, but I am well-acquainted with being an outsider."
  331. >You smirk
  332. >"Really? You are a princess."
  333. >"Exactly."
  334. >She ruffles her wings slightly
  335. >"I am an Alicorn who controls the sun. I am not, well, a typical citizen."
  336. >"Although you are royalty."
  337. >"Yes, but... I do sometimes feel as if I do not belong, and that's with all my power."
  338. >You nod
  339. >You knew the feeling
  340. >They were kind to you
  341. >Very kind
  342. >But you still felt different
  343. >Magic didn't work on you unless you wanted it to
  344. >Dragon's fire barely felt like a breeze
  345. >You could fall from heights that should have reasonably killed you
  346. >All around you were reminders that you were from off-world
  347. >Another world with different rules and workings
  348. >Of course, everybody was nice, but you still felt some distance
  349. >"Yeah..."
  350. >You avoid Celestia's gaze
  351. >"Yeah... I know the feeling."
  352. >"However, tonight..."
  353. >You look up at Celestia
  354. >"Tonight, I felt... I mean, you were so casual with me, Anonymous. Nobody does that. They're all scared of offending me. But you..."
  355. >She takes a deep breath
  356. >"You weren't. I'd- I'd like it if it could be like that more."
  357. >You arch an eyebrow
  358. >"If I could- Be with you. More."
  359. >Celestia stares at the floor
  360. >You feel your face break into a smile as you go tomato-red
  361. >"I'd like that."
  362. >She looks up with bright eyes
  363. >"Really?"
  364. >"Yes. Maybe we can have dinner again next monday?"
  365. >"Yes! I'd very much like that. It's a date."
  366. >You make a noise of surprise as you drop your fork onto the floor
  367. >"Like- Like a 'date' Date?"
  368. >She blushes
  369. >"I- Guess. The meat we had today was delicious, but..."
  370. >Her smile turns mischievous
  371. >"You're not a bad piece of meat yourself."
