| "..." The soldier just stared at Kynthia as she shouted back. It would normally have made sense, but the way she was handling it was so far beyond anything else that she could not even think straight. That is, think straight long enough to interrupt her. She was definitely ready when the time came to retaliate.
| ||
| And retaliate she did, shoving her up against the tree once more and outright screaming now. "Fine! I'm f***ing crazy! I'm some goddamn lunatic! But you listen here!" She pointed back at Greg now, not even bothering to hide it any longer.
| ||
| A growl before she began. "Maybe I want to take the fall because I care about the well being of my team! Because I always have left! And I don't care how you interpret that! What it means to me is that I give a sh** about putting myself out there to protect the few people I might, maybe, actually give a sh** about! And another thing! I never said that you were all he ever thinks about! I said he was only concentrated on one woman who he loves! Real big difference there, and not getting a hell of a lot of points out of that 'self-centered' category! If he only cared about you, he'd have left me in Fairport for good or not followed my trail! He wouldn't have stayed with me until I was able to walk alone without fear someone would jump out and take a bite! Wouldn't have stayed behind to make sure people recovered decently on my last op in New Mombasa, just gone back to worship at your feet, your highness! Don't know if you realized, but he's a f***ing person!"
| ||
| A breath before the next topic. "I don't care if you think you're all grown up, you little sh**. You've been out there for what, a century by what you told us before? I'm so sorry that I'm not on your level, but if you're over five times my age, grow the f*** up!" She was aware she was basically exploding now, but had no intentions to stop. "I'm in my twenties and I've seen teenagers more mature than you, more willing to just look their problems dead in the eye right on instead of running first! Regardless of if you came back, that's what a ten year old would do! Oh, and about those teenagers? I see one of them right back there, talking to your boyfriend. How about you ask them what it means to be a decent person!"

| - | [Namine and Kairi talking about what Azumi and Kyn are actually saying.] |
| + | Then on to her personal complaints about what she had been through, ignoring the one that she had already spoken of out of both her own mental block and her hatred. "If it's Greg here, those are his problems! Let him deal with them! I don't go telling people about other people's pain unless I absolutely have to, and I haven't heard him say a false word since I saw him again! You want him to make his own decisions? Let him live his own life!" The last comments, however, were the worst, and drove her pretty much past the edge. |
| ||
| She didn't give any warning, just punched hard into her abdomen. "You want to say that? Want to say you'll catch up, like this is some kind of f***ing game to me?! Fine! How about we get your planet completely, permanently, irrevocably made completely uninhabitable? At least you have a family! I'd count it as a blessing to be able to call some family mine!" She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She was getting worked up, her comparatively fragile mental state not helped by her shouting.
| ||
| So she spoke rather plainly instead, though loudly for any of the others to hear. It wasn't a threat, just a fact, as she yanked her gun out of the tree's dent roughly, wiping it off with a glove and putting her helmet back on. "The way I see it, you have exactly two options. Either you grow up and accept your own faults, or we will all leave you. Maybe not him, for reasons we know, but I have better things to deal with than a spoiled brat who thinks it's within reason to yell at and reprimand a woman who has explained her own instability and is trying to explain to said brat her own faults in what she did. I know you don't respect my authority as your commanding officer, and I doubt you respect me at all, do you? After all, I'm 'the one who just wants to sacrifice herself'. 'Wrong'. Have you ever heard that word? Did anyone teach you it? Because if you don't grow up, you'll find yourself with no-one, everything crumbling around you, completely alone. Even love has its limits, and I know this. Then, maybe, when you're crawling on your hands and knees, away from everything, maybe then you'll understand what I deal with daily. Maybe then you'll have 'caught up', as you felt the need to tell me, you ungrateful, unfeeling, unrepentant b****. And when you come asking for help, when you continue down this self-destructive path, I'll simply explain that I told you all of this before, and leave you to whatever filth you debase yourself to."
| ||
| She grabbed her by the shirt again, keeping her back and speaking softly once more. "I've seen more heroics and selflessness over the course of twenty seconds in a Covenant squad trying to kill me than I've seen from you in the last few minutes. Maybe that'll tell you where you stand, princess." With that, she shoved her back, storming off toward the others once more.

| ||
| [Audrey's comments about Kira and such]
| ||
| Greg was silent for several seconds. His eyes showed shock... then defeat, as he lowered his head. "I... I know..." He sighed. "I know I don't deserve forgiveness, I know..." He was holding back a tear. "She'll never forgive me, but... but I wasn't in my right mind. I had lost Kyn, I'd lost Aska, lost everyone..."
| ||
| Even as thou tries, thou must accept responsibility.
| ||
| "I know, Aska..." he was on the verge of tears. "I'm trying to be better, but... but I don't know if I can ever be forgiven. If you want to kill me... just take me around the back, okay? Don't make her see it."
| ||
| [Audrey's response]
| ||
| [Namine and Kairi talking about what Azumi and Kyn are actually saying, possibly coupled with the former coming over and crossing her arms silently, refusing to even look at Kynthia, wanting to know if she'd attack her back.]
| ||
| At that, Greg's demeanor shifted then, both from the second chance (which he had to hug the Dream Mage for) and the revelation of the topics of the conversation. Unusual for him, he was not in favor of Kynthia's position at all here.
| ||
| "She doesn't have a right to act the way she is now," he said to Kairi and Audrey. "Azumi went through Fairport, a nightmarish world. She was there for four months before a few others and I could get her out. When I was trying to help her, she was taken away for an unknown amount of time with the woman they're talking about who may have assaulted her in more ways than we'd like to think of, and has very few to turn to for aid. Kyn escaped and has me, my family. This was all not long between each other."
| ||
| His mouth turned to a frown, just short of a scowl. "Even if I do love her, there's basic facts at play here. Prior to that woman they talk of, there wasn't much trouble as far as I can see on her end aside from having to deal with Urd here for a while. Yes, that was traumatic with that woman. But after that, I was the one who needed to be talked to, and we worked things out together. Then I was taken away by Ron Rivers' reincarnation named Cain Flueves and a rather unintelligent, evil version of the hydromancer Will Tarin who goes by the name of Styx. I was tortured, and she and Naito -- our son, long story -- freed me and we went on a date with Naito, his girlfriend Jasmine, Isaac, and Cheryl Mason. Kalas was there too. Then we split up a little longer and I meet her here. I don't know about you, but I don't see how that's so bad and merits her to yell at the obviously psychologically damaged soldier for those reasons. Not defending herself is different from assaulting someone else. Just because I love her doesn't mean she's right." |
